Re: Are Big Fish Good to Eat?
big bass taste like lake water, 12" or less if you wanna eat 'em...thats my opinion anyways. If you eat some crappie you won't ever wanna eat anymore bass anyways. ;D

What Do Bass See In Chartruse?
I've noticed that baby crappies, baby bluegill and baby pumpkinseed's all have a bright belly often yellow or chartreuse. I don't know if that has something to do with it or not.

Getting started
I agree with the crawdad colored crankbaits or any crankbait for that matter. Every place I've gone with a bunch of chunk rock like that crankbaits seem to shine.

Friend wont touch fish
Maybe if you let him read all of these replies assaulting his manhood he would start dealing with his own fish. ;D

You know you bass fish when...
When you call in sick to work because of ideal conditions for good topwater action. ;D

topwater using plastics
I use jet black zoom lizards weightless buzzed on top of the water all the time. A few days ago I caught some nice bass in the middle of a bright clear day doing this, if the bite slows down on that I usually just add a bit of weight and fish it on the bottom. I'm not sure that it's the best topwater bait but many times when they won't hit a waked spinner or a buzzbait the black lizard buzzed on top works. Everything I read says to use brighter colors on a bright clear day like that, but the black works awesome for me. Not sure why it works, but it does.

eating bass?
Once in awhile my father and I will get together and catch some fish to have a big fish fry. Usually crappies and trout on the menu but once in awhile a small bass or 2 end up in the fry. I have never intentionally killed any bass over 17" and I can only legally keep them less than 12" or over 17" and I don't see any harm taking out a few dinky bass 2 or 3 times a year. As far as trout and crappie though I keep alot of them and there are still too many. They stock thousands of trout every year in lakes all around the state and the crappie never seem to drop in size or numbers. I prefer crappie over all other fish, they are DELICIOUS. ;D

do you prefer to fish alone?
As most others stated, I too fish alone 90% of the time. I have yet to meet anyone (except on here) that is in to fishing as much as I am. The last time I took someone out we went out mid-day fishing a few areas, I mainly wanted to show him how crazy some of these fish were getting on the topwater action right before dark but he wanted to leave 3 or 4 hours before dark so he would be home in time for dinner. I guess thats the difference between me and others, when I am fishing there really isn't much that bothers me, or much I think about other than fishing. The downside to fishing alone is I see some WEIRD and CRAZY stuff sometimes that you could never see without being outside alot, and sometimes things are so weird that I think people don't believe me lol. If I had a witness... ;D

definition of a cold front
Thanks alot for all the info, there were bass up in the reeds but i had to throw to spots numerous times and work my lures very slowly then they would just pick it up and sit there with it. It was alot different than a couple days ago but they didn't go far, they just slowed down. Thanks again ;D

definition of a cold front
Thanks for the reply, there are alot of reeds up in these coves that i have been fishing and the wind has been blowing alot of debris and garbage into there it almost seems like it would warm up that water quicker in a way but regardless of that it IS good thick cover I think I'm gonna have to go give it a try. Thanks again.

definition of a cold front
The weather here in eastern washington state has been the same for the past few days, very windy and overcast but in the mid to upper 50's. Last night it got a bit colder and rained very hard all night long but temps never dropped below freezing, now today it is a bit windy but looks as if it may get sunny and warm. The question I have is, would that drop in temperature yesterday be considered a cold front or does it have to get much colder for a longer period of time? Should I fish the areas/presentations that have been working or is it not worth the effort because they may have moved deep? I fish from the shore and have been finding them back in the shallow coves tucked in the reeds and i can't cast to most drop offs or points out in the bigger areas of the lake from the shore. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
