  1. JIGS !! Crankbaits and senkos too. Water temps have been around 52-55 degrees. Now is one of the best times of the year to catch your biggest fish of the year !
  2. Thanks. Looks like we finished in 4th place. I will be fishing all of the hooper tournaments also. Kezar is an awesome place to fish, some giants in there. Its my favorite place to fish.
  3. I also fished the Sebago tourney yesterday. That place sure can be tough. We got hailed on where we were too. We managed 7 bites for the day and 1 was a short. We weighed in 5 fish for 13.21 lbs. I have no idea where we finished. 1 st place was 22 lbs, they absolutely crushed them, very impressive. I think second was 18 lbs. Any where I can find the standings ? Any one going to do Kezar next month ?
  4. It IS a magical place. I will be there 2 or 3 days this weekend. The tournament didn't go quite as planned yesterday on Sebago. We finished in 5th place out of 16 boats.
  5. Today was an amazing day of fishing on my favorite lake. Got to the launch, step out of the truck and there is a turkey gobbling at me in full strut 100 yards away. That was pretty cool. I launched the boat about 8 am and the water was 50 degrees. The fishing was amazing today. Fish # 1 19 inch 3 lb 14 oz on a jig While I was fighting this fish to the boat there were two GIANTS that followed her in. They were actually trying to get the jig out of that fishes mouth. So I back off the spot and a couple casts later I caught this fish. Fish # 2 21.75 inches 6 lbs 2 oz on a jig A couple casts later I get another hit. It is huge. Much bigger then the 6-2. I fought it a while. Got it her to the boat. I cant see my jig. She must have inhaled it. I reach down and grab the net. Moments before I am about to net her.. She opend her mouth and y jig just comes out. Bummer. She was around 8 lbs with out a doubt. That was sad. I move up 10 yards or so from where those fish were and I cast my jig out to shore. Bump. another big bass I on. Fish # 3 20 inches 5 lbs 6 oz The fishing was really good for an hour at this particular spot. I caught a lot of fish of this one spot and good ones too. I caught fish over 3 lbs on a jig, spinnerbait, senko, smoked grub and crankbait. After the bite died down I decided to try another spot, to give this spot a rest for a couple hours. After another 30 minute run with my trolling motor.... First cast. Fish # 4 22 inches 5 lbs 14 oz. Unfortunately she was kind of skinny. I wish she had some more girth. After landing that fish and a couple quick pics I cast back to the same spot. Before the jig hits bottom the line jumps. I set the hook. Immediately a big bass around 6 lbs goes airborne and spits my quick back at me. I make my way back to my first spot. I caught a few more fish and was about to go to another spot when I got a nice hit on a crankbait. Fish # 5 20 inch 5 lb 6 oz What a fatty ! Big smallmouth for the day, 3 lbs 1 oz It was an amazing day. Landed 19 largemouth and 10 smallmouth. 11 of the largemouth were over 3 lbs and 1 of the smallmouths. Biggest 5 bass went 26 lbs 6 oz. I am pretty bummed out about losing the 8 lber just as I was about to net it. I caught 3 lb plus fish on every lure I had tied on today. If I didn't have a tournament on Sebago tomorrow I definitely would be going back !
  6. I will be going to my favorite big bass lake tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a few pics.
  7. I fished Sebago today. It sure was pretty choppy this afternoon, kind of like an ocean. Fishing was ok. Landed 7 bass, 4 largemouth and 3 smallmouth. Got a 2-14 smallmouth as well as two decent largemouth a 3-4 and a 3-7. Got a nice sunburn too. Tomorrow I will be fun fishing my favorite big bass lake.

  18. The state of Maine doesn't allow tournaments on Moosehead Lake.
  19. I just saw the 2014 Top 100 bass lakes list. This list surprises me every year. I think it is kind of a joke personally, but thats my opinion. A few lakes in Maine made the list. I was really surprised to see Moosehead Lake ranked in the top 100.. That is crazy. Cobbeesocontee made the list again which doesn't surprise me. China lake was ranked pretty high and it should be. For the first time Kezar Lake wasn't ranked in the top 100, it is every bit as good as China, if not better. Squam and Winnipausaukee made the list too. Lake Champlain and Memphramagog were on the list for Vermont. Its good to see some New England waters make the list but, I think the best waters weren't listed. I am still surprised by Moosehead Lake making the top 100.
