  1. It wasn't very big. It weighed 2 lbs 13 oz. I took the close up pic to get the details of the coloration.
  2. I went out fishing this weekend for bass and pike. I was fishing out of my truck which I drove on the ice. The ice is still almost 3 feet thick on Lake Champlain. I caught a few bass. This one looks very odd... I caught a couple of these two
  3. Check out this Largemouth
  4. There is still well over 2 feet of ice in Maine and Vermont
  5. The thickest nastiest stuff I can find, weeds or wood, and isolated off shore structure.
  6. I think New England could be its own region. New England is very different then New Jersey, Delaware or the great lakes region.
  7. Hopefully this spring I can get into some big bass. Fall is my favorite time for giant bass though. I am hoping this year to catch more and bigger bass ! Hopefully each month 105 inches or 25 lbs in my five biggest bass. I would like to get into some giant smallies too. Still looking for one of those to mount and add to the collection.
  8. I am going for the Maine record. That fish will have to be at least 11-11 !
  9. Sorry Shane but I am catching a 10 lber !
  10. I like the idea of a New England competition. It would be pretty cool if we got more guys to participate.
  11. My first cast will be with a jig as well. I will also have a suspending jerkbait, a bladebait and a crankbait tied on as well. The bragging rights contest should be interesting this year. Hopefully more people will be a part of it.
  12. When this winter has finally ended and there is open water again what will be your first lure to cast ?
  13. 44ft bladed jig the thanksgiving day two years ago. It was unusually warm and the fish were biting !
  14. Winter here in Vermont and in Maine have been real harsh. There was over 4 feet of snow in the woods in Maine as of last week. Snow on the lakes was deeper then my knees. It has been brutally cold all winter long. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be -20. I think maybe by july there will be open water.
  15. Welcome aboard ! There are a few New England bass fisherman on here. Glad to have another New Englander on board.
  16. Unobvious offshore structure is my favorite thing to fish. I do not have expensive electronics so it takes a lot of time to find these spots. When you do find them they are amazing. A sunken tree out in 10-20 feet of water or a small rock hump, anything like that is exactly what I am looking for, not many people find these spots. Everyone can see the obvious cover such as emergent weeds, shoreline trees, docks, or anything else that is lining the shoreline. Cover and structure both hold bass at times. Sometimes in 6 inches of water and sometimes 45 feet of water. Figuring out what will produce best when and where is what fishing is all about.
  17. I love throwing KVD 1.5s if I am looking for numbers of bass. If I want a big bite I use the 2.5s. Chartreuse black back is my favorite color. The KVD 2.5 has accounted for more bass or 6 lbs for me then anything else in the past couple years. Another crankbait I think works well is the Live Target crawfish square bill both the shallow and the mid depth versions. If bass are feeding on crawfish they are tough to beat.
  18. I was going through some old pictures today and found these two of the 8-9 I had mounted. The picture quality is not the best. Does anyone else have some pics ? Shane ? Deak 6lb smallmouth ? NEjitterbugger ? Mike ? Spyder ? Lets see some photos guys
  19. It could have just been a bad day for them I guess. It was early spring very cold and windy. Its good to hear the bass fishing is better there then what I heard. Any 5 plus pounders in there ?
  20. I would recommend mailing the rods in pvc pipes to where ever your staying. It has worked well for me in the past. I shipped rods from Maine to Alaska, Alaska to Illinois, Illinois to Florida and Florida to Maine. I
  21. Sweet ! Lets see the pic !
  22. An 8 lb largemouth anywhere in New England is quite the accomplishment. Same can be said for a 6 lb smallmouth. Both are very rare fish. Anyone on here catch a 6 lb smallmouth in new england ?
  23. How is the fishing at great east ? A friend of mine had a club tourney there a couple year ago. The winner caught exactly one bass. He was the only person to catch a bass...
