  1. When other people get hung up and cut their line at the rod instead of breaking it off and my baits get caught up in it and comes back with 100ft of fishing line
  2. Fishing out of a jon boat, went to cast a crankbait and it snagged the tip of another rod that was sticking up. Broke that rod and backlashed my other reel. Lost 2 set ups in one cast. Another time fishing in a jon boat, standing up on the bench somehow one of my rods got knocked over the side. Luckily I was able to tie on a deep diving crank and snagged it the first cast.
  3. Ebay also has referbrished lowrance elite 5 ti for $350, it only comes with a downscan transducer but I could always buy a totalscan at some point.
  4. Any word on the garmin striker 7 sv. Bass pro has them for $499. Description says it has a 400/800khz transducer
  5. Is the transducer with the helix 5 a standard or hd
  6. What is the difference between the chirp and non chirp
  7. Just squired a new boat from my grandfather and I would like to replace the unit up by the bow. The main lakes I fish close to home are electric only so I will only be using that unit by the trolling motor. I would like to keep it under $500. Should I get a sidescan or downscan unit. Or is there one that has both for my budget? Brand does not matter Right now it has an older eagle magna 2, I believe has sidescan and maybe just 2d sonar
  8. Is it hard to fish from the sitting position of a kayak? That is my only concern with it.
  9. My brother in law has a 12 foot jon that we carried and put in the lake without the ramp. If the water levels are up you can back all the way down to the lake, but the last 2 years it has been down so there is about 10 yards of dirt, depending on how wet it is I may be able to back down it without getting stuck. I want to get into some offshore structure fishing. Would this be difficult in a kayak
  10. I need help selecting a boat. First let me start with the lakes I will be fishing mainly. Lake #1 is the biggest and is only 300 acres and electric only and has a good boat ramp. Lake #2 is only about 30 acres and has a terrible boat ramp, I would probably have to drag the boat 10 yards to the water. Lake 3 is 200 acres and I believe a 5 horse limit with a good boat ramp. now for my boat option. #1: my grandfather has a 70's bass boat that I could probably get for 1,000$ but needs the deck replaced and fish finders. The big motor needs a new lower unit but that doesn't matter as much as my home lakes don't allow for it. I also cannot fish lake #2 with it. #2: buy a flat bottom jon, deck it, get bow mounted trolling motor, and fish finder. I could fish fish any lake with this boat without fear of tearing it up to much #3: get a fishing kayak and mount fish finder, again I could fish any of the lakes
  11. For me it is simply finding fish. I have no boat and no electronics and only have a few small lakes in my area that get beat to death by fisherman. The biggest of these lakes is only 300 acres and I literally counted 17 boats on the half that I could see.
  12. Any one been out yet this year. I haven't been able to yet

I whacked a 140 on public land this year
  14. Kvd jerkbait after one cast. It was only 8-9$ but still sucked
  15. Well I don't own a boat so im always fishing the shallows. And I throw a lot of search baits
  16. This past year while looking through photos I noticed all of my biggest fish I was wearing the same shirt. These photos are over 3 years
  17. So every year I pick a new type of bait, rig, or type if fishing that I have had little to no experience with and try to learn how to effectively use it. I think it is a great way to become a more versatile fisherman. Last year for me it was the drop shot and squarebills. For 2015 I want to Learn to fish lipless crankbaits, shakey heads, and start fishing deeper water structure. What is your goal for 2015?
  18. When you fish river systems how do you get back to where you launched? Do you just paddle against the current? I am thinking about getting a kayak to fish some local small rivers and was wondering how that works

Fishing one day with my brother in law in his jon boat. We both had several rods and it was a bit crowded. Well we knocked one of my rods over board. He went swimming looking for it, in the meantime I tied on a deep diving crank bait and snagged it on the first cast
  20. Do you usually cast downstrem, upstream, or across
  21. Over fishing, maybe to much pressure on the fish
  22. how many bites a day do you guys usually get flipping and pitching? and how spaced out are those bites (time)? usually after an hour or so fishing a jig without a bite i give up and switch to something else.
  23. The main aspect I would like is sensitivity
  24. Almost all of my jigs are 3/8-1/2 oz, I would say the cover is moderate, and right now I am using 50lb power pro braid but also have 20lb fluoro
