  1. I'm personally happy to report that it was a Prism Gill colored Duo Realis Spinbait 80
  2. I think for the price it's an excellent swimbait. It has great action. I used the slow sink version and for spawn it was incredible. Unfortunately late last year mine snapped off on a cast.
  3. No doubt. I don't think I've ever worn a drag knob hard enough to need to verify it's materials. It's got a few small but present upgrades from the Ci4+ but probably none that would be easily noticed if you never knew. However, given the fact that I could get the Sustain for the same price, it was a no-brainer. I put a lot of thought into it after reading this thread on TT Sustain vs Stradic FJ vs Stradic Ci4+ There was no deal of $147 for the Ci4+ or I probably would've ended up with that. I had an FJ prior and it was superb and I feel the Sustain is just a bit smoother. In any case, the Ci4+ for $147 is a great deal for an awesome reel. Evan K and illinifan will not be disappointed.
  4. So, if we (as humans) can't actually SEE air......can fish SEE water? or like us, just the effects of water You'll have to forgive me, I'm really tired
  5. Yea, a lot of it depends on if they're running sales and how the AU dollar compares to the US dollar. The amounts will fluctuate. I must've just gotten lucky because they're up to close to $200 But maaaaaaan I love that Sustain....smooth as butter. They must've used MegaStrike as the grease.
  6. A-Jay and I did some write ups here..... Gliss Monotex Line - A Brief Review Like A-Jay and Clayton, I'm a believer. It might have negative reviews, but I haven't ever experienced those. Maybe they've re-formulated since then. Besides, show me a line with ZERO negative reviews about breakoffs, frays, castability, etc -- I'll buy it tonight Quote
  7. It was an eBay shop, but they also have an actual facing store....called Otto's Tackle World. If you log into eBay with your accout it'll tell you the price in US Dollars. It was easy to do and they provided great service, even packed a JDM topwater lure in with it. The only thing I don't know is how it would work if I ever had a warranty issue. I'm not sure how Shimano handles overseas purchases. I haven't ever had to use their warranty, but it'd be interesting to see how they'd approach it, so I guess as a blanket statement, buy overseas at your own risk since warranty issues might be present.
  8. Depending on the fluctuation in markets, sometimes it's much cheaper to buy overseas, particularly Australia. I was going to bite the bullet on the Stradic FK - about $169 the cheapest I could find, but I ended up getting a Shimano Sustain for $171 +$15S/H from Sydney Australia. I know there's not much feature differences, but I figure why not for essentially the same price give or take a few bucks. Took 10 days to get here.
  9. Cool, I'll try that. I use yellow Gliss on my senko/Ned Rig rig so I'll need to use a flouro leader with it. Glad to know it'll hold that knot.
  10. Which join knot? I typically use an Alberto......do a few more turns with that?
  11. Me too. I use the 24lb last year, this year I'm going to give the 18lb a try. I took it out a while back and was blown away at how far I could whip a TRD. It's insane. I haven't yet tried a leader though, I'm a bit nervous. The NanoBraid seems very similar.
  12. Loon is exactly the color I have, the fish seem to like it
  13. I think about any size is good. Here in Indiana I don't normally see fish north of 5-6lbs, so I went with the 90 size to just get more frequent hookups and I like it very well. Others will say go a size bigger since bass aren't too discriminatory, especially large ones you'll get down in FL. As for color, I got one that was darker in color since my buzzbaits tend to produce more when they're darker, but I don't think it matters quite so much.
  14. You won't be disappointed. I don't know what makes the bass like em' but they do
  15. I saw that article too and it got my attention. I could see this being a dynamite lure in my rocky-bottomed shallow river near me. Squarebills do very well there, but I've never had a squarebill jerkbait to try. I just wish those things weren't $24, that makes me quite a bit more hesitant to try anything, I lose too many lures to risk it
  16. You won't be sorry. Those things look goofy but man they catch fish
  17. I have to say, of all the lures I buy, I am the most skeptical with this one. It seems to border on the line of gimmicky and genius (sometimes that line is VERY thin) It's a great idea, and I can see how being a hollow topwater it'll generate strikes, but I'm just not sure how often. Time will tell. I also thought a Jackall Pompadour or R2S Whopper Plopper would be gimmicky, but they shut my mouth pretty quickly. Mine's one of the colors that seem to be hard to keep in stock, and I'm on a backorder list. Can't fish it right now anyways, it'd just skip across the ice
  18. I have one that I use quite a bit. Does VERY well on the outer edges of weedlines since it would instantly foul up if it's actually IN the weeds. I always think it acts a bit like a more obnoxious cousin to a Jitterbug. I use it any time of day and get hits. It's a good open-water topwater lure. Some of these niche topwaters do very well, the Pompadour, the Whopper Plopper, etc. They have their place and do it very well.
  19. I have the SonarPhone and it works very well. I pair mine to an iPhone and the app is very good and updated effectively. I admit though I've not used the iBobber. I would say though that it's only marginally helpful since it's not the easiest to cast. If manufacturers could get the cast-able portions of their products smaller they would be more practical....in my opinion. As far as functionally, it pretty much works identically to any other $100-150 boat mounted graphing. I really like it.
  20. Excellent! Congratulations Mike, it was just a matter of time!
  21. The Shakespear "Clear Tip" - I'm not sure what the purpose of a clear tip is. Their rods are strong as can be, but both of mine have a clear tip.....for....what exactly?
  22. I'm so sorry to hear this Tom. My condolences and prayers are with you and your family during this time.
  23. And I'm over here just wishing I had a bass boat......
  24. We had a period a couple weeks ago where it rained for days on end sending our local river into flood territory for a few days. Well it's been a week and a half now and the levels are returning to safe-wading depth and flow as the river is falling about 3 inches per day. That means by Saturday it'll be easily wadeable. My question is how this will affect the fishing? I normally do pretty well for smallmouth and some rock bass with a few largemouth thrown in for good measure. At the deepest, it'll be about 4-4.5ft. What will the falling levels do to the fishing, and what kind of structure/cover will they relate to? I've never had conditions like these.
  25. I've used both, and I tend to prefer Sufix. However.... If you've not tried it, the Power Pro Maxcuatro has become my new line. The 50lb version is about the same size as everyone else's 30-35lb braid. I used it all last year and it made a believer out of me.
