  1. Thanks, I actually have a 7 ft med/ heavy rod with a baitcasting reel and 12lb florocarbin. Picked it up off CL just for jig fishing. I think I'm just not laying into them. Heading back out in a hour. Hoping for a better hookup ratio, its almost as bad as the Bruins powerplay
  2. Finally landed some bass on my Jig n pig. I started off using a black/blue 1/2 oz wedge head jig w/ havoc black/blue pit boss trailer, but I lost that too a submerged log. Minutes before that I had a monster Bass but I didn't set the hook good enough and he spit the jig! Thats what I need to work on is setting the hook with a jig. Harder than I thought. I wanted to continue using a jig to critique my technique. So I grabbed a PBJ 3/8 oz football head jig with the same black/blue trailer. I only had football styles left even though I was fishing heavy weeds and submerged timber. I had to be extra cautious not to get any hang ups with the football. I probably missed 10 fish on the jig. But I landed 3. Two smaller ones and a nice 4-5 pound chunker. He was only 17" long but really fat! I was surprised when I saw some bass or pickerel hitting my jig and it felt like I was stuck in weeds. I could see them shaking there heads but they would spit the jig out before I could set the hook. Definitely something I need to work on, but man is fishing the Jig n pig fun once I got some fish! I was fishing Russell Millpond in Chelmsford, Ma from 9:30am - 5pm. The water started at 47 degrees and I ended up pulling the boat out and most of the water was 54 but some areas hit 57. I probably didn't get any hits until at least noon time. But bait fishing were schooling and getting spooked by something chasing them once the water was over 52. I'm gonna head back there tomorrow all day since I'm still on vacation until the 15th. Gonna take full advantage of the time I've got left.
  3. Thanks ill have to try those. I'll probably wait a lil bit before I try forge pond since it seems pretty deep and may take a while to warm up with this weather. But flints looks good maybe for monday or Tuesday. I was out on Russel millpond again today and pulled out a pickeral on a black spinnerbait and another pickeral and largie on a big broken back rapala black & white. Been trying the jig n pig but no luck yet.
  4. Well I got a new to me 11' 2" Coleman crawdad with a trolling motor, fish finder, and swivel seats....everything you need to have a good day out on the water. So far I've dropped her in at Nuttin Lake, beaver pond, and Russell Millpond. I only have a couple bass and a pickeral. Been getting lucky on a broken back crankbait, black spinner bait, and I've got a few hits on a rubber crawdad and pbj jig and pig. I missed a bunch on my crankbait today. Big boys following it right up to the boat and then swimming away. The water hit 53 degrees in some spots on the pond today, but I'm sure its gonna drop the next few days with this cold weather blowing in. What have you guys been lucky on in this area?
