  1. Hey nhbassin, I was out on that lake this past weekend. First time I fished it. The State Park side has a lot of deep clear water/rocks. You'll find a lot of SMB's over there. Hit the markers (rock piles) for suspending SMBs (Red rapala yo yo effect). I pulled them out of 8 - 12 ft of water. For the LMBs go to the shallow areas. I fished a lot of downed timber and there are some big fish hiding up behind the logs and brush piles. (Jig n Pig) I assume you'll be dropping your rig in at the boat ramp? I didn't get that far because I dragged my jonboat in at my campsite, but I did find a lot of tiny bass and a few 2-3 lbers (KVD square bill, orange Craw color) as I started to head over that way. The water temps started on Friday in the mid to high 50's and by Sunday it was from 59 - 63 at the end of the day. They weren't going after any senkos, drop shots, or grubs. The boat ramp side I heard is your best bet for LMBs. But there are downed timber all over the lake. The crappie are spawning and I don't think the bass are yet.
  2. I love the KVD 2.5s....Been killing bass on them for the last month.
  3. Wow what a pig! What pond did you pull him out of?
  4. Haha…nice I pulled out a pickerel yesterday at 2.88lbs and then a couple days before at 2.93lbs. Those guys really fought all the way in! 2.93lbs
  5. Nice healthy fish! Some night fish action! What did you guys get him on?
  6. Got out today for the first time in the jonboat. It's nice to have that depth/fish finder back to see the water temp and how deep the fish are gathering at. A few bass, a lot of pickeral, couple crappie, and a lot of perch.
  7. I've had about 50 LMBs so far. Been ripping them it out with KVD 2.5's and 1.5's. Natural colors and rattles work great. Also the Sexy Ghost Minnow or Shad. Retrieve slow, pauses. jerk. I was out today and I had the Jonboat in and the water was 59-61 all over Russell Millpond, so the water is plenty warm for the Bass right now. I'm also located right next to Lowell in Billerica, Ma. Been catching all sizes from under a 1lb up over 4.5lbs. Also a pig n jig or just a senko, texas rigged or wacky rigged. You can find the KVD series at Walmart in Lowell or drive all the way to Hookset, NH at the Bass Pro and they have a much larger selection of the KVD series. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.
  8. You could just say it's home made. ask your insurance company to make up a slip and say the trailer is homemade and it cost you 100 or so to make it. Take the form to the DMV and you should be all set. Bingo Bango...
  9. Pulled this 4.5 lber last Sunday along with a bunch 1-2 lbers. He was stuffed and had a tail hanging out of his throat.
  10. I tried the Concord River today and not even a bite. I tried slow rolling a spinner bait, KVD 2.5 sexy ghost minnow, senko, and pig n jig. Nothing so I headed to Winning Pond and killed it on a KVD 2.5 sexy ghost minnow. Thanks TC235 Caught about 10 LMB and had 3 more LMB's got off. The biggest weighing in just under 3 lbs. I had about 2 more around that size and the rest being about 1.5 lbs and a few at under a pound. The biggest one of the day
  11. Growing up in Newburyport I always fished for stripers. I found clams and whole herring worked the best. I always had the best of luck during outgoing tide in the rivers. I mainly fished in the Merrimac on the flats or the mouth, parker river by the ipswich yacht club, or off of Cranes beach in Ipswich. But like I said outgoing tide always produced more fish because the bass were coming in to eat the baitfish as they are swept out with the current and the temperature of the water would raise 10+ degrees from the warm rivers! For blues I look for bait fish jumping, usually a good sign they are there. Steel liters are a must because of their teeth. And I've caught blues on Rapalas trolling near or through the baitfish jumping. And once you've hooked one, hang on for a hell of a battle.
  12. I need to use some KVD action myself. Gonna pick me up some tomorrow. What colors do you recommend this time of year?
  13. Has anyone ever fished the Concord River that runs through Billerica, ma? Have any luck there? What did you use? I've never fished a freshwater river before. I'm usually in a pond or Lake, but since its 1 minute from my house I would like to try and pull some Bass or Pike out of there. The water is really high and stained right now and I tossed out a black spinner bait and a black senko from shore but no luck. I plan on taking the canoe down there this year when the water levels drop a little. Seems like it would be tough to fish right now since the waters are so high. But I could be wrong. Any info would be much appreciated…Thanks!
  14. I fished Greenough pond in Billerica today for a few hours. I only had luck on a black/blue senko. 1 LMB at about 1.5 lbs. A few more bites on the senko but nothing else.
  15. Oh can I?! I had no luck today in a bigger body of water at Russell Millpond or at Greenough pond last night. No bites or nothing. Tried the jig and my gf tried a black spinner bait all day out in the canoe but no love. Anybody head out this weekend?
  16. Thanks Jugfishin10. It was at Winning Pond by the jail on Treble Cove rd. I've always pulled dinks out of there 2lbs max. I did not expect that size to come out of there. Jigfishing is the best fishing! You may not catch tons of fish, but you'll hook up with some beasts. Started using the pig n jig technique last year and haven't stopped. I've fished a few times at Nutting Lake and have yet to catch anything. I usually hit up Russel MillPond in Chelmsford and I've had pretty good luck over there. I will be heading over to Russel Millpond tomorrow. You do need some type of jonboat or canoe to be able have a chance over there. A lot of downed trees and along the banks perfect for the big boys to hang out.
  17. I was fishing over in Billerica, Ma today. Ended up throwing the black/blue football jig with a Orange Havoc craw trailer and came out big. My PB LMB, had to be over 6+. Still a little bit of ice on the pond but the bass don't care! Fish on the warmer side of the water and thats where you'll find them.
  18. I was fishing over at Winning Pond in Billerica, Ma today and it was pretty much open except for about 1/4 of it. Ended up hooking up with my PB LMB! He had to be 6+, I will never know though because I had no scale or phone to take a pic! Left it all in the truck! Caught him on a blue and black skirted football jig with an orange Havoc Craw trailer in some logs/branches underwater. Not bad for the first time out. Also saw some monster sized carp in there. Never new there was carp on that pond. So glad the warm weather is here!
  19. I put in by the bridge. Which side is the smaller side? I've fished both sides and I've caught bass on both. The side that leads to the beaver dam is a tad shallower but has more downed trees.
  20. See if this works from my phone....a couple pics from Wednesday 4/11. I caught 3 bass, 2 pickeral, and missed a couple more fish. I was fishing brush piles, and the whole shoreline as I was drifting down the pond. I caught everything on a pbj 3/8 oz jig with a blue craw trailer
  21. Russell Millpond. It's on rt 4 in chelmsford, ma. It stretches pretty far in both directions through rt 4. You need a boat or canoe to get the bass. Fishing from the road is kind of blah. People with live bait throw there bobbers in and hope for the best. But you need to travel up or down the pond for your best chance at nailing bass. Some decent sized bass there. There's a lot of sunken trees and brush piles perfect for the lmbs.
  22. True Bruins fan here! Lol just frustrated with my fishing and the Bs! Haha. Habs lost tonight, so we can take the division tomorrow with a W against the devils.
