I have been using a brand called sakuma for over a year now, and it is my favorite monofilament I ever used. Prior to that it used to be momoi and yozuri. It doesn't feel like your typical mono either. It's soft, supple, and line memory has never been an issue. The best way I can describe it is that it's floss like. And because of that likeness, it's very easy to tie. I don't even lube it. I think you'll like it.

Good for you! I always wanted to hunt and even paid a $20 fee for a weekeend course. That was 3 years ago, and never ended up going, lol. Actually met a friend who just started out fishing and his parents were not outdoorsman at all. They seemed reluctant about him fishing, but quickly got over it.

I'm an animal lover, but I have to agree about the geese. I'm not a hunter or know anything about it, but sometimes I feel like they should increase the bag limit or season to keep the population under control. I kind of feel the same way about the whitetail deer as well. I had so many close calls the last few years that I try avoid driving at night.

I can fit all 300yds of 10lb suffix 832 on my shimano fj 4000, which gives me good breaking strength and great line capacity. I think going down to 10lbs on a 2500 reel would be more than adequate. It is also more advantageous in my opinion.

mallards are actually wild, but you're right, pretty much any wild waterfowl can be hatched and bred in captivity quite well. Muscovys are indeed a domesticated duck, and quite common to see around city ponds and lakes. I believe there are a lot more domestic breeds than you may think -- most notable of these breeds are the peking duck -- bred to grow large and quickly for their meat -- great egg layers too.

They're everywhere!The only thing that bothers me are the amount of feces. I'm not even talking about the ducks, but the canada geese. The ducks are fine by me.

I went to a bass fishing flea market this past spring and saw a combo with a shimano 4000ix and almost bought it. I kind of wish I did. I have too many rods and reels already!

Bass tackle can handle most stripers if you have the right line capacity and good drag; however, a proper surf setup would be best. If you're going down that route, then do your research carefully. A couple people mentioned some sites, and they contain a lot of good info, but a lot terrible advice as well. Do your research.

i don't think even a subforum is necessary. If this forum was way more active then maybe, but having a pike forum and carp forum, etc would be a pretty lonely place.

I was in the same boat as you. Didn't really work for me, but kept on tryng. It's pretty fun once you get the rythm going and having good accuracy helps too.I know a lot of people think it's boring, but I like it. It's fun. Wacky rigged senko that is.

I've used 6lb and 30lb line. Even the 6lb is very strong for what it is, which I spooled up on my stradic 3000 for fishing flounder using a light jig head. Got hit with a big stingray, which almost spooled me. I had to tighten down the drag and even used some hand pressure on the spool when I had like 4 wraps of line left on my spool. I got the hit on the beach side of the jetty and took me up and around the tip and back down the other side (inlet side) in strong running current. Normally I would have broken it off long ago, but was curious how much pressure I can add to a fight. popped it off when I brought it to the surface. It was big but they get a lot bigger.

If it's not too bad then sometimes it just pulls right out without having to cut your line.
