  1. What butt cap and trim piece is that on the Rodgeeks and where can I find it??
  2. Anyone down size these baits and finesse them? I was thinking about cutting off half the body and fishing it weightless. It should still sink fairly well at a slower rate. Could be killer on pressured fish. I'd like to fish it in open water with an exposed hook, rigged backwards of course. Anyone have any suggestions for a 1/0 hook to use for this? I don't want it to be too light of gauge to prevent bending, plus the plastic is pretty thick. I don't want it to be too heavy duty either to prevent the bait from tearing and to keep from adding weight. I think a straight shank worm hook would be best, but they all seem to be light wire.
  3. I fished a pack and never had any takers. Kinda looked like a tree twig in the water. Like fishing 5 Senkos at one time.
  4. Thx Darren. So how is the stability compared to one of the more popular sit on tops that are known for stability. Yaks like the Coosa, Lure, and big game? Better, worse, same?? Unfortunately there is nowhere remotely close to demo anything.
  5. The XR25 is a killer little bait. I actually prefer it to the larger sizes, especially as a search bait. Small, loud, and casts like a rocket. Great for smallmouth
  6. Keep it down man! Shhh!
  7. Santone lures Got 5 spinnerbait available at TW.
  8. Any owner / user feedback would be appreciated. Stability, fishability, durability, etc. It seems every yak or canoe I research has one or two things that turn me off. I like this hybrid design, the layout, and the weight should make car topping a non issue. Being only 31 inches wide, the primary and secondary stability have me a little concerned. I'm hoping the hybrid design and the shape of the hull will provide greater stability. I've toyed with the idea of a Jackson big rig, but I don't want to trailer it, plus I know I'd end up dumping a ton of money into it. The Ocean Kayak big game sure looks nice, but I really want slide tracks. So I thought I had decided Feelfree lure 11.5 or even a Moken 10, but I've read a few complaints regarding the softness of the hull, and I really don't care for the seat in the lure. So I guess what I'm looking for is the stability of one of those wide yaks in a lighter more hybrid craft, which is what led me to this. I see there is supposed to be a propel version coming soon. That should really be ultimate. Also, are you guys running a rudder on your ultimate?
  9. I was set to have a drop shot rod built some time ago but did not. At any rate through extensive research the one blank people raved about was the Rainshadow 822.5. Came in RX7, RX8 and plus models. Seemed every thread on rod building forums stated this was the blank to have. I think in the current line up, Eternity and Immortal it is now the 6'10 ml spinning blank. If you're fishing open water you might want to give these a look, but if you're going to be fishing around docks and what not you may want to step up a power. And imo Phenix blanks are not over priced. The Ultra line is better than everything else in that price range. The K2s are wonderful but pricey. The Recon stands in a class of its own at or around 80 bucks. Just my 2 cents.
  10. I've been through more jerkbait dedicated rods than I care to mention. Mentioning your current arsenal including Dobyns, I can tell you one of the better jerkbait sticks I've used was the 6'6 medium heavy Savvy. I'm not a big Dobyns fan, but this rod was close to perfect for jerkbaits imo. The power and action was as close to spot on that I've found in a factory rod for this technique. The handle length was about perfect too, and it fishes more like a typical medium. You could step down to the Fury model but I don't know if the blank will behave the same.
  11. Tackletour did a full review on the medium heavy model. Just click on the review archive link. Plenty of information in the review.
  12. None of those baits pictured are 20 years old.
  13. I'd hang on to some and fish the crap out of em. Talk about something the fish haven't seen. Yes please
  14. 1) Keitech Impact and Easy Shiner 2) Reaction Innovations Dippers 3) Lunker City Ribster / Grubster Bonus - River Rock Baits!
  15. I use a 2/0 Owner Rig-N-Hook Worm hook on 3 inch tubes. I might step up to a 3/0 for a 3.5 inch tube, though all my tubes are 3" or smaller. It has a short shank and a very wide gap, plus it's very sticky. It's an Owner! http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Rig-N-Hook_Worm_Hooks/descpage-ORNHW.html
  16. As much as I hate to admit it having a box full of Duo, Ima, Lucky Craft and Spro, the Rapala X Raps seem to always find fish.
  17. I prefer to use small earplugs. With a little corkie, position it mid way inside the tube so it doesn't interfere with either end of the hook. With a soft earplug you can drive your Texas rigged hook right through it. Obviously with either item you can't insert a tube head jig into the tube in addition. Texas rigging a standard hook or tube head jig is really the only option. You can also use a standard jig head and run it through the earplug if you want an exposed hook.
  18. Thanks guys. Much appreciated
  19. Hey guys. Curious what the natural blanks look like, or if anyone has even used one since the paint option is available and such a big push. I see they have 2 piece options in the carbon 2 line, and I need another travel rod. I've heard from a few folks who stripped down some St Croix blanks that they were rather unsightly upon completion. Not opposed to paint, just curious. Thx
  20. I think if you want a centrifugal system adjusted from the side plate without any need to open it, you'll have to look at Lews and Quantum. Shimano made some old 4X4s where you could adjust the pins with a dial located on the exterior of the side plate. Daiwa is all magnetic. All the adjustments are made with the brake dial, and on most newer reels there are 20 levels of adjustment. If you get a reel with an SV spool it won't be finicky at all.
  21. I knew a guy who incorporate red feathers and red pipe cleaners onto his drop shot baits. Said it made them look like they were breathing. He caught a lot of walleye, so who am I to disagree.
  22. I think they can make a difference into turning a follower into a strike, especially in clear water when the bait is paused.
  23. Is it a sinking jerkbait? It should say on the box.
  24. Option number 1, ml Phenix Recon!
