20yr old rapala baits

Featured Replies

I have a good 50 or 60 Rapala baits that are about 20yrs old and never used, not in the boxes though. Are they worth anything before I throw them on epay and they sell for next to nothing? I know there is some discontinued colors amongst them. Thanks guys.

Lots of guys collect older Rapala baits. The older original minnows, fat raps, risto raps, discontinued DT colors, among others, all are very valued by some anglers.

I'd hang on to some and fish the crap out of em. Talk about something the fish haven't seen. Yes please

Rapala likes to discontinue very popular and effective baits too (original wiggle wart, risto rap, fat rap). So chances are you'll have some good baits in the mix that the fish might not have seen for awhile.

I don't think I have many of the models u named, and some I'm not even sure what they are. I do have a decent amount of minnows that I don't think I will ever use again. Now days it's all 110s, lucky craft ect. I do have a decent amount of shad raps, deep and shallow diving. I moved to Texas recently and have a lot of colors that aren't effective down here esp perch. I also have the jointed stuff that I don't think catch much and have a lot of small sizes that are just too small for down here I think. I lived in PA and the fish were just so much smaller. I'm gonna post some pics and maybe u guys can help me out and let me know if use want any.

If I had the money I'd buy them all from you right now.  But I don't have spare money to spend on that right now.   They all look to be Shad Raps and Shallow Shad Raps.  If I were you and I wasn't broke I wouldn't sell them - just on general principles.  Keep them - they are a good start toward a lure collection.

Yep, all shad raps and shallow shad raps. The bottom left of the top picture appears to be a #5 in the crawdad color. I've caught more fish on that bait than I care to try to estimate. I'd keep them and fish them unless you just want to sell them.

I kept it in that color in the 7 and 8. I posted a bunch in the flea market cuz it wouldn't allow me to post more here, go check em out. Plus I have more that I didn't post in the flea market that I don't know what they are.

I got some older bombers I don't think I want either, will post them tomorrow, check out the flea market.

The Firetiger shallow shad rap in the bottom right of the bottom picture.  Many many bass and pike were caught on the one I had.  Was sad the day I lost that one.

None of those is worth more than a new one, sorry !

If you had, for example, a shallow running Fat Rap that bait would cost like 25 + bucks.

They were deleted cuz I didn't have a price I had make an offer

Some of them might be over 20 years old, as the Shallow Shad Rap came out in the early 1980's. Some of the color patterns are newer though.

Pm me a price shipped on the shallow shad raps, all 8 of them please

Less than 20, it´s easy to spot a 2 decade old lure, in the older generations the lip turns yellow as it ages.

Don't know what to tell u guys besides your wrong the shad raps and 38 minnows I have were all bought around 95, all have been in a box in the house. Never out and about in a tackle box.

All these color patterns are from when I bought them which was around 95, and yes some of the colors are still made today.

I think that depends on where/how they're stored. I have some cranks older than I am that were given to me by a family friend that didn't fish much but like to collect lures. They were stored inside and not in a hot garage and the bills are still perfectly clear (the ones that aren't metal anyways).

Some of them are newer colors (Hot Steel is one that jumps out), but there's some that probably are close to 20 years old. I think the hard part for some of us to remember is that 20 years ago was 1996  Shad Raps were introduced in 1982, so there could be some older ones in there. They aren't worth anymore now than they were then though. Most newer mass produced baits aren't worth much even when discontinued because there's just too many of them out there.
