  1. I have heard they have great action, but you have to fish it super slow or it wont run correctly. I have also read that they are not durable. I haven't used one, but I have heard from a bunch of sources and I am very hesitant to buy one.
  2. looks like something my ex wife would use...
  3. i pre ordered the gantarel jr in april, and the date for shipment has changed 3 or 4 times yet no shipment. is this fairly normal? has anyone else received their gantrel jr?
  4. i always hold the rod at an angle instead of pointing it at the lure. hold it to the side and if it starts loading up set the hook.
  5. I use 7/0 3/8oz for 4.5, 5, and 6" speed shads, which is the Bass Pro clone. Its a little big for the 4.5, but its perfect for the 5 and 6, and it lets me throw all three on my swimbait rod. Hope this helps. GO CATS
  6. i regret not getting the 40, but i got the 50. i'll just have to get a 40 too lol
  7. its just the 6in bbz-1, so its only about 2 ounces. its just on the larger size of what I'm used to. I'll keep what you said in mind.
  8. With the large baits, I just try and lob it, but I don't feel like I am getting any distance from my casts. I don't know why, but that hadn't occurred to me. next time I go fishing, I'll try that. Thanks!
  9. I have a couple of really large baits that I really want to use, but I'm really intimidated by them. I'm referring specifically to the Spro BBZ-1 Rat, the Lucky Craft Real Ayu and Bluegill, and the Spro BBZ-1 jr. They are the largest and heaviest lures I own. The rod and reel I use are a 7'9 Cabela's swimbait rod rated for 1-4 oz., and an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur STX 5600 spooled with 65lb Suffix braid. I love the rod and reel when I'm using smaller baits such as the 5" Castaic BD Shad and Keitech swing impact fats. When I tie the heavier lures on, it feels like the the rod cant handle it, and I'm afraid to make a hard cast. I haven't heard anything bad about the BBZ-1 Rat but yet I'm too intimidated to use the d**n thing. Does anyone have any advice they can give me on how to approach the big baits?
  10. i caught my personal best on a 1/2 ounce floating bill lewis rat-l trap. the color was orange crawdad i believe. the bass weighed at least 4.5 pounds.
