  1. For me I fish either 1/4 or 1/2 oz jigs and 99% of the time it is 1/2 oz. I have never fished a carolina rig. Also 85% of my fishing is < 20 feet
  2. If you have stained water I would recommend spinnerbaits.
  3. Look at the structure you are fishing to determine type. For example I fish water where and Arkie head style can be fished all the time. Any of the above mentioned companies are great. Also, see if you have a local guy who makes jigs. I am fortunate to have G&G Bates here in Indiana.
  4. In NE Indian we use a smaller jig in the winter because we are on ICE Baby!
  5. You bite your tongue about jigs not working in Indiana! I pitch jigs to docks, lay downs weed edges and always up/down dropoffs. You can also swim them! Some of my biggest bass have come from trolling a jig just above the weed line. The only situation where I truely drag a jig is when I am working up or across a drop off. What features does your body of water have?
  6. I take 3-5. 3 are confidence lures and 1-2 are general purpose or top water.
  7. Have never used a trailer on a spinnerbait. For jigs I always use a Paca Chunck or a Yamamoto DT Hula.
  8. Sorry if this is a dumb question but if u are adding a skirt and weight why not use a jig?
  9. I stand for pitching and top water. I think some people stand more then they thought they would but most stand less. I only stand when anchored and really working cover or a flat.
  10. Fluoro coated is a copolymer. For a jig rod I use braid with a fluoro leader.
  11. Great information everyone! Thanks for sharing.
  12. For LM I pitch a jig to cover a lot. When a jig with a craw trailer is not getting the bite but I am positive there are fish or I am going back through an area I will follow with a big worm T-rigged. What are some baits that others use to follow a jig?
  13. I have the exact set up you are talking about. I got the 7'3" MH and 65# braid. Casts the hollow bodies great and pulls the bass out. I believe the rod is rated up to 20# so you should not have an issue.
  14. I use spiking for soft plastics. Helps to back up a jig and skip the plastics deep under docks.
  15. I will beat the horse and say 7' MH for jigs
  16. Rod: *** *** 7'3" MH Reel: Lews Speed Spool Line: 50# PP Jig: G&G Bait Company 7/16 oz Jig Trailer: Net Bait Paca Chunk or Yamamoto D/T H Grub
  17. I have a friend who makes jigs and spinnerbaits. I use his. G&G Spinnerbaits. Right now I am using a 7/16 and 3/16.
  18. Zoom mag 2 on a 5/0 with 3/16 t rigged pitch to docks behind a jig and trolled.
  19. Net Bait Paca or Yama double tail here.
  20. I use a *** 7'3" MH
  21. I have 2 *** in MH and love them.
  22. I am lucky enough to be friends with a guy who makes spinnerbaits G&G spinnerbaits. They are one of 4 lures I fish a lot. Chartreuse and White is a great combo. I never use a trailer or a trailer hook.
