  1. I will mostly be using strike king square bills like the 1.5 and 2.5. I will also be using lipless cranks and some soft plastics.
  2. It is between Sunline super fc and Seaguar red label. If I were to use it as a leader, what pound braid should I use and what is a good braid? Also, how long should the leader be?
  3. What fluoro should I use for cranks mostly and soft plastics that cost around $15? I am looking for one that has a pretty small line diameter so I can use 14 lb line and still get good depth with cranks. Copoly is fine too, as long as it has a relatively small line diameter.
  4. Here's mine: h20 mettle h20 ethos KVD squarebills bass pro worms (and other soft plastics) bassresource Non fishing my dog (not that I thought he would be a bad thing ever, just never thought he wouldn't be as good a friend as he is to me! lol)
  5. What are the differences between the curado E and G? Is it worth the $100 or so to get the E instead of the G? How much would it cost to upgrade a g to be like an E?
  6. Average depth caught in: <2 (spawning) Rattles/hinges vs silent: silent Natural vs unnatural colors: natural Moon phases: April 12, 2013 - don't know the phase though
  7. I was actually considering doing that a little while ago. Where do you "put it" the kayak? It would be a long drive for me, but it sounds like it would be worth it!
  8. I only use spinning for ultralight pretty much. I can do everthing else on baitcasters. If you don't want to use spinning, look for a pixie or maybe the new revo lgx coming out this fall (it has a "super shallow" spool) that can handle the lighter stuff.
  9. I was just fishing at a local pond and I look over and see this flash in the water. Dirt and sand is getting thrown around in the water. I move a little closer and I see fins so I thought "well its probably just a bass eating a crawfish or something" so I cast past it and try to catch it. I cast 5 or 6 times, wondering why the bass didn't notice my soft-plastic craw, and when I moved closer to get a better look I saw a giant snapping turtle with a 5 pound bass in its mouth. The snapping turtle was probably 2-1/2 to 3 feet long. It had the bass by its stomach area since it probably swam over the turtle and got bit. The bass was just about snapped in half by the time I got a good look. I was pretty PO'd cause that pond is not great and all the bass are small, and the one he was eating was the one I caught 2 times before. I could tell this because he had a broken jaw where his lower jaw was off to the left. Also, he had a scar next to his eye which I remembered from when I caught him before.
  10. Dawn! I love hearing the loud splash noise on my topwater, but not being able to see it. Its so exciting.
  11. Largemouth hit with such vigour and power! It's addicting and I love it! Nothing more satisfying then a good hard hit from a largemouth whether it be on a crank or top water..
  12. If its a confidence bait, I'll buy 3-10 maybe more if I'm running low..
  13. Baby brush hog!
  14. Well I went to academy sports last Friday and I had no choice! So much stuff on clearance! I bought a lot of stuff...
  15. My only concern with leaders on braid is that when I go to cast, the connection knot between the 2 lines will either hit the line guides and over time break from that or the knot will get stuck on a line guide for even a half second and then I get backlash. Does this ever happen with braid -> leaders connection knot?
  16. I fish a lot of ponds so deep for me is usually 6-7 fow. When I do take the boat out on lake Wylie, where deep is probably around 15-30 fow, I fish alot of t-rigs, and jigs. My favorite tech techniques for fishing the lake deep are fishing creek channels and main lake docks. I love dragging a jig too. That is one of my favorite ways to catch 'em. I love feeling them pick it up off the bottom after dragging it. Also, dragging it really stirs up dirt from the bottom which attracts bass.
  17. I just set the drag to where I can pull it and the line doesn't cut into itself which is probably 4-5 lbs.
  18. I read some fishing reports on Lake wylie and it said that the fish are scattered shallow in the coves. This is pretty common I think cause last time it rained a lot, the reports were very similar.
  19. Fishing is my escape from worries and frustrations. I like it more when i'm catching fish, but usually I just enjoy being there. Any natural pond/lake is paradise to me.
  20. Can you use braid with cranks? I know this might be a stupid question to some, but I have never used braid and I kind of want to but I do ALOT of cranking (square bills mostly).
  21. Is there a chronarch 300e or did you mean curado 300e? I would say lexa cause all of those reels can throw really far and daiwa will last long and not cast as much. My second choice would be the shimano cause it is more durable then the lexa but it is more expensive..
  22. Does anyone know how these brakes work? How does the external dial modify the braking settings of the 4 pins? Have any of you used the new metanium (I think that's the one with svs infin., may be wrong) with the svs infinity? Is it better than the vbs in terms of distance casting and casting in wind? Also, how does it do in pitching/flipping?
  23. Totally agree with this. I think that no matter what time of year you are fishing, the bass can still be caught.
  24. Try putting a tiny amount of light oil on the brake race. This will give the centri. brakes less power.
