  1. Wow, glad you and your buddy made it out ok. Thank you for sharing this story, I'll remember next time I am tempted to take mine off.
  2. Hi, i actually used them for the first time last weekend when I took my Dad fishing. We were using nightcrawlers I ordered from BPS. We were casting towards shore, and slow retreiving with pauses. We caught a lot of Largemouth, Yellow Perch, and White Bass/Perch. (And Bluegill of course unfortunately...actuallu a LOT of Bluegill )
  3. I'm not a big fan of them in my local waters, mainly because they are so small and numerous...but they come in handy when I take a non-fisher fishing and they cath a ton of them. Sometimes quantity over quality is welcome.
  4. I admire your self control. I joke around about how much money I spend on a recreation that should be free once you make the initial investment.
  5. Delivered 30 minutes ago. Weighs a mere 43 pounds.
  6. I'm a kayak fisherman for the past year, but I bought a tandem canoe last week so I could take my father out lake fishing. I bought the Old Town Saranac 160XT from Bass Pro Shops, it is a flat bottom 16 foot canoe and we had a blast. It was extremely stable, enough that I could stand and cast if I wanted to. We brought 6 rods, cooler with lunch, drinks, tackle boxes, bilge pump, really whatever we needed and there was plenty of room.
  7. I think that I would pay for something like that if I was taking someone who fishes maybe 10 times their entire life, or if I had a family member who was interested in my hobby. if there was someplace like that near me I would definitely take my Dad and brother there.
  8. Hi, On a side note...I took my Dad fishing yesterday and he caught his first Bass ever and it was a Smallmouth ! He caught it using a live nightcrawler on a bobber. He was slowly reeling it in past a patch of lilly pads. Mitch
  9. I recently started seriously fishing, and plan on it this winter. Looking forward to less weeds, less shore brush, and less crowds.
  10. Hello, First off, I would like to thank Bass Resource and everyone on the site for all the great information. I just got serious with fishing this summer, and have been catching Bass regularly using all the tips and advice here. (OK not huge fish, but I'm working my way up). So I went fishing yesterday morning, and using a homemade spinner I caught 2 Bass within 5 minutes of each other while fishing in the Delaware and Raritan Canal in New Jersey. They put up the biggest, jumpiest fight I have had so far with Bass. It was actually quite amazing for me to actually witness them jumping out of the water like that. I quickly took pictures and let them go. When I got home and looked at the pictures I noticed they didn't look like all the other Bass I have caught this summer----- > In the pictures one looks like it has the red eyes and both lack of horizontal like along the body. Am I safe to say these are actually 2 Smallmouth Bass ? Thanks for any advice. Mitch
  11. Wow, awesome. You know, I automatically assumed it was a frog. Live and learn !! Thank you
  12. Hi, Anyone know what type this is ? I was checking online but couldn't match it up with anything except maybe a Cricket Frog. Any advice would be greatly appreciated !! (BTW this is in centralish N.J.) Thanks !!
  13. I started kayak fishing this summer, and it has become an obsession. i normally spend up to 12 hours on the water on Saturdays. I recommend bringing an 8 pack of Gatorade. Drink a full bottle and use the empty for your "exiting fluid". I also bring a mini-cooler with a bunch of sandwiches. I use a 1.5 pound anchor on a retractable dog leash.
  14. I use the smaller size Kastmaster when nothing else works. It is my all time favorite. I catch Sunfish, Crappie, Perch, and Largemouth with it.
