  1. I have the same rod in a 7 footer. Excellent rod for senkos, soft jerkbaits, and light (1/4 oz) t-rig rod as well. Have a Chronarch CI4 spooled with 12 lb. Tatsu and find this set up to be a dream to cast and fish with. Also have same rod in a heavy action (1/2 oz to 1.5 oz) with same reel with 20 lb Tatsu. Absolutely the best 1/2 to 1 oz jig rod I have ever used.
  2. Kistler custom Z-Bones, Shimano Chronarchs, and Seaguar Tatsu. Best setup I have ever felt. Hate the price tag though.
  3. 7'0 or 7'6" XH Micro Magic will easily cast both 8XD and 10XD. Heavy action in both lengths will suffice for 8XD but is over powered by the 10XD. Can recommend 30 or 40 pound braid as I have had great results using the same producing long casts and the strength to get baits back from snags. This is an awesome summer technigue on Toledo Bend. Have fun with come mid-June through September.
  4. I have a couple of rods with the tour star products grips by Winn and I they feel great. Looks like will be seen on more rods in the future. A company called Hammer Rods offers a line with these grips as well.
  5. Nope...I replace with tour star grips by Winn. Big improvement over eva foam in my opinion and the wetter they get, the tackier they get.
  6. Vinegar. But you'll have to get rid of that smell next.
  7. Do a google search for "Wobble Head Worm". Do not post a website link since the company is not a site sponsor. This rig is DEADLY in North Louisiana during the summer. I always have one tied on from mid June through September. Very popular lure in this region but virtually unknown anywhere else.
  8. Per Tackle Warehouse, 200 yards of 12 lb Gamma Edge is $43.95 whereas the comparable spool of Tatsu is $39.99. Don't let the price of Tatsu deter you from compering these two lines. I compared Gamma to Tatsu recently and found Tatsu to be the better line for me. It is more manageable, has less memory, casts much better, and is more sensitive with less stretch to me. Breaking and knot strength seemed to be even, but Gamma is a thicker diameter.
  9. The Biffle Hard Heads are readily available at "big box" retailers as well as local tackle shops. They should not be hard to find.
  10. How does it compare to the magnesium Quantum EXO you bought? Oh and, what's a tax refund?
  11. Was looking for line on Tackle Warehouse today and saw that 100 yard spools of 12 pound test Gamma Edge costs $22.95 while a 200 yard spool of the same test of Tatsu is $39.99. When comparing these two lines, Gamma costs more per yard than Tatsu, which has commonly been referred to as "the best fluorocarbon made". Considering the adage that you get what you pay for with fluorocarbon line, does anyone have any experience with Gamma line and consider it a worthwhile purchase? Ultimately, how does it compare to Tatsu?
  12. Went to my local Academy Sports during lunch break today and saw the new Curado I 200 HG on display. While I was checking out the display model, the clerk told me had six in stock, so I left with two of them. Just wanted to pass this information on that other Academy Sports might have these in stock for those that might be in the market for this reel.
  13. Sounds like it's time to get a second Champion Extreme.....Problem solved!
  14. Been studying Hammer Rods, particularly 7' MH & H, and am curious if anyone has any experience with these. Interested in hearing opinions about the blanks being used, quality of components being used, and level of craftsmanship. Also, would like to know how they feel in hand, how they balance, and ultimately how the fish. http://www.hammerrods.com/products_detail.php?ProductID=84 http://www.hammerrods.com/products_detail.php?ProductID=84
  15. Lacassine Pool is part of a National Wildlife Refuge and is subject to its own set of rules such as a closed season and horsepower limits. To my knowledge, all lakes and rivers managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are open to fish year round.
  16. A 5,00 acre impoundment in Jackson Parish called Caney Lake.
  17. I have used Super a little bit. To me, it is comparable to Berkeley 100% fluorocarbon in casting, memory, and overall line management. For its price, it is a decent line that gets the job done. Once I purchased my first spool of Sniper, I have NEVER even considered using super again as it is a vastly superior line in all facets. The additional $10 per spool is absolutely worth it to me. If you spend the extra money I think you very happy that you did as well.
  18. As a licensed CPA, I cannot recommend what's mentioned above enough. If you are indeed engaged in this activity with a profit motive, or if income was earned as a hobby, this will need to be reported by you. How this is treated depends your situation and how the business is structured. Actually the IRS applies an activity test to determine if a venture is a hobby or business so it is important to file based their guidelines. Working with a professional will ensure you are reporting correctly this thus avoiding costly penalties and fines. Also, a CPA in your area should have extensive of state and local taxes as well, which are just as important to do correctly as federal. Concerning the use of trademarks and copyrighted material, it is best practices to get express written permission before using such material. Purchasing material from a manufacturer to use in your product typically does not present a problem though.
  19. That particular bait is similar in size and weight to a Strike King 10XD. Look at rods marketed specifically for this bait and you should plenty of offerings capable of handling the SKT 110/120. In the $200 range, Kistler KLX and the Cashion 10XD rod are good choices.
  20. This it what I did. You owe it to yourself to at least look at a Phoenix.
  21. Kinda sounds like it is down here in Louisiana, we have more water than dirt. I never have t travel more than 5 miles to find a place to fish. Heck, my backyard runs into a 200 acre private neighborhood lake. Can get an hour or two before work If I need to.
  22. Kistler KLX Grass Punching - Stump Grinder. I have a seven footer, running 65 pound braid, and use it the exact duties you describe. This rod even does a good job of tossing 1/2 oz buzzbaits and spinnerbaits even though this is not its intended purpose. It is available in 7'0", 7'3", and 7'6" and can be purchased for about $145 with a discount code. Buy one of these and you will not be disappointed.
  23. Lucky Craft Sammy 100, american shad.
