  1. I have the exact rod you are asking about. Mine is spooled up with 15 pound fluorocarbon and is used primarily as my jig rod. For this duty it is almost perfect due to the sensitivity and the extra fast tip needed to set the hook hard. The sweet spot for this rod, in my opinion, is between 1/2 oz to 1 oz of lure weight. When being used as a bottom contact rod it is has few equals and would highly recommend for such techniques I've mentioned. This rod could be used as a punching rod with lighter weights but an extra heavy would be better suited for this task. Kistler offers an H3 extra heavy that might suit you better. It has a slower tip as well which works better with braid than the H3 heavy. For frogging, the He Heavy is not really the best choice due to the extra-fast tip. Combine this with low stretch braid and you could experience hook set issues. I actually prefer my KLX heavy for frogging due to it slower action.
  2. Hey cgolf, no worries man. I definitely perform my due diligence on tackle purchases as well. Seriously though I have that the rage products have all been great producers for me and I find them to be a great value as well. The rage menace is a very versatile bait though. It can be used as a swim jig trailer, punch rig lure, or even texas rigged by itself. Get a few basic colors and get to fishing them, I think you will be satisfied.
  3. When do I quit the jig? Usually when I put the Skeeter on the trailer. Always seem to have at least one on deck.
  4. Just a little sarcasm. That post is over a year old and I still remember it.
  5. This is me as well. When I find something I like better than what I am currently using, I'll sell off the old and replace it with new irregardless of manufacturer.
  6. I remember those days.....this is why i am in industry accounting now. Tax season used to cause me miss the entire spawn season down here. Don't miss those days at all.
  7. Or the Tatsu and Invizx would find their way into Stren boxes. I did find it interesting to see what the pros actually purchase and use versus what they claim and market for sponsors. Don't fault them for it though.
  8. Interested to know if anyone has used both a Daiwa Zillion SV TW and a Shimano Chronarch Ci4. Specifically interested in which one is preferred for lures ranging from 1/4 up to 1/2 oz. The rod I plan to use will be the same regardless of the reel so this should not be an issue. If you have used both, which one do like better and why?
  9. This may already be old news but I found some 4 inch TRDs and power finesse 1/5 oz. shroom heads at Bass Pro. Thinking the larger profile vs. the smaller size originals should entice the larger ones down here to bite.
  10. Trokar tube hook. Skirt forward.
  11. Been hearing a lot about the lately but have not seen one in person in order to form an opinion. Curious to know if this bait is the real deal or is it another gimmick to never be heard from again like the Laser Lure. For the folks who use these, what color and sizes do you prefer and when you do you find them most prodictive. Thanks in advance for everyone who replies.
  12. Believe it or not but Sufix 832 in 40# test works great for deep cranks. Casts a mile and the thin diameter gets them really deep.Have no any problems with fish coming due to the lack of stretch. An added benefit is the ability to pull a plug loose from a snag 95% of the time due to the strength.
  13. Without knowing any details such as the reel you will be using and what application you plan to be using it for makes it difficult to answer which is better. My personal experience is that the zodias is more comfortable, sensitive, and balanced than the E6X in my hands. This applies to all comparable weights in each offering as well.
  14. What he said.
  15. I don't get paid a commission. I am not a salesman. I have no reason to convince you to buy anything.
  16. Dude. These are awesome in the weeds and grass during the summer. Their motto is "The Hotter It Gets, the Better It Gets" i have bunch of them and love using them.
  17. Snagged a Strike King 6XD last summer so I get my trusty telescopic lure retriever just like many times before. Working it on the lure in about 12 feet of water but lure won't come loose which prompts me to work it harder. While doing this, for some reason I loosen my grip and the pole files into the water like a spear. Forty dollar lure retriever goes to the bottom to never be seen again. This is most expensive fishing item I have ever lost and to this day I still trying to figure out what I was thinking.
  18. The best lights to use are submersible, if it is a green LED then it is even better. Don't know the science behind this but I know these seem to draw the fish better than anything else. Also, bugs seem to be interested in them as well. Have fished many docks during the summer nights in Louisiana so I'm referencing a large sample size to see what works. Lights draw tiny critters which draw little fish that in turn attract bigger fish. Bass will be nearby hanging in the shadows around the light waiting to ambush prey. Work your bait where light fades to dark and you will catch bass. Have done this technique a lot. If you want to buy one there several options online.
  19. Nothing really impressed me this year.
  20. Crank up the SHO throttle it up to 6,000ish RPM and tour the body of water I'm on at 70 or so MPH. You ought to see the look on some jet skiers face when pass them. Getting a little payback on these fools is a good consolation prize for not catching fish.
  21. Hey man, not trying to rain on your parade but all the kayak specific rods' model numbers except one match those found in the elite series line of rods. Seems like existing products are being marketed as kayak specific. You are right that Cashion have shorter handles than most. I have a 6'9" MH and a 6'9"H and both have 8.5" handles but I don't these on the website anymore. Just look through their whole lineup and perhaps there are more choices that fit your style of fishing than those labelled as kayak specific. I really like everything about my Cashion's except the ACS reel seat. If I could get these with and ECS I would probably own twenty of these.
  22. I have a Helium 3 HE3H70XF and use it down to 3/8 oz and jigs and up to 1 oz jigs w/trailer. Rod handles these weights flawlessly so don't think the rod over or under powers your weight range. Irregardless of which one you ultimately choose, you will be very happy with any of the Helium 3 rods you mentioned.
  23. There is no One best Senko rod, UNLESS you consider a Kistler Helium 3 7 foot Light Medium Heavy. Best rod I have ever used for Senkos and Flukes, just love it.
