  1. I keep a small box of H&Hs along with a short pistol grip rods for when I am fishing out of jon boat deep in the woods where creeks and sloughs are about 20 feet wide. For some reason, these things are deadly for "thicket" fishing.
  2. BPS has the ability to control the price they pay for inventory. This results in the overwhelming majority of the profit accruing to BPS and not the manufacturer. Not many premium equipment/tackle manufacturers are found at BPS for this reason.
  3. Do you do this yourself on a lathe? Sounds like a good idea to me.
  4. Don't use it. If I get skin cancer, so what.
  5. 10#, 12#, or 10# FC. Situation determines which. Always Tatsu though.
  6. Rat-L_Trap makes them in 1/4 oz. as well. They even make an 1/8 oz version that is an absolute blast to fish with ultralight tackle. The tiny ones will limit out the crappie here with amazing quickness.
  7. I have a bunch Sedona 500s and 1000s mounted on my, dare I say on this site, ACC Crappie Stix. They work well for what I use them for.
  8. Been getting emails from Kistler really touting this reel. Looks spiffy enough but am curious if anyone has any experience with these. While on this subject, anybody have any idea who actually makes these?
  9. Different take on the Steez. If you knock it of the deck and it sinks in the water, are you going in after it? If the answer is no then the Steez is not too expensive for you, If you are willing to drown to get your reel back it may be more than you care to spend!
  10. Another personal preference for Daiwa. Like others have said, this my preference and nothing else. Can't wrong with either.
  11. Doesn't Dobyns make a DX 746. Sounds like you really like your 745 DX a lot so stepping it up a power might be the ticket. Don't own a Dobyns rod persona;;y so I could be completely wrong.
  12. Tatsu 12#, but only when I want to catch fish on a Senko.
  13. Been shopping new rods recently and noticed that hardly any new offerings have micro guides. Just a few years ago the tiny things were the greatest things since sliced bread. Am I missing something or is the micro guide fad officially over?
  14. Rick Clunn, whom I would consider elite, stated several years ago that he fished with a 7 foot heavy rod for ALL applications. He uses/d the same rod with the same reel so every setup felt identical in hand. The only item that varied in his setups was the line used. He believed he could effectively fish any technique he used this way, including crankbaits. He's right about this too. I have noticed that the same rod with different types and sizes of line produces completely different actions.
  15. This behavior is ludicrous. Does this justify bass fishermen killing walleye simply by deeming them "trash fish? I certainly hope not. I have caught plenty of gar, gaspergoo, and jackfish which are all considered undesirable in my area. I simply unhook them and let them go. Poor fish doesn't know what species I am fishing for.
  16. Has anybody ever used on the Axis 2.0 metal wobbly lip crankbaits? The manufacturer makes it sounds like all any fisherman needs is this bait in all available colors of course. Any opinions or reviews would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  17. Man, I miss those.
  18. What makes this particular reel an upgrade over the Curado 150 MGL?
  19. Just wait a day, it's gonna close to 70 degrees again today and tomorrow. What really sucks is that the forecast calls for rain for next Monday through Thursday while the temps are supposed to climb into the upper 70s. Louisiana weather changes faster than my wife changes her mind,
  20. What parish are you from Crash?
  21. I have been fishing D'Arbonne since I was ten years which I have been fishing there for 44 years and even have a lake house there. One simply gets used to getting skunked when bass fishing there. Be sure to watch Wednesday because Caney is going to be insane! It's not if someone catches a 10+ but how many are caught. Bussey's going to provide a lot of excitement and produce a great final round. Moral of the story is: If you don't like getting skunked, go to different water.
  22. Just buy a bigger tackle box to carry both!
