  1. I have some 3/8 drop shot weights. would that presumably work just as well?
  2. I've been told that birds are a good sign for fish in ponds. I usually try to look for smaller baitfish. Did that last weekend and had some luck.
  3. Depth may be it then, because I haven't noticed them cutting the water as much. May try to throw some crankbaits and see if I can get a reaction. I'm not sure how deep the pond gets but it may be worth a try.
  4. Since about May till now, my main fishing spot has been a pond near my house that is about 2 acres in size. I've fished it maybe once or twice a week all summer. Broke off a four at the bank and a six pounder wrapped me around a submerged Christmas tree on a spinnerbait. Have caught a few smaller ones on rattle traps and one on a buzzbait. The main forage seems to be small baitfish, mainly bluegill. My trouble is the last two weeks or so they just wont bite anything. Is it possible that I have over-fished this pond and they have become accustom to my lures?
  5. I don't know how easy this picture is going to be to see, but does anyone have experience rigging these? I couldn't seem to rig the keeper properly, so as soon as I got hung on something the plastic bait was basically ruined. does anyone know how to properly rig this type of keeper?
  6. Good Point. I definitely feel like I need a spinning rod, because some days presentations from my casting set up just aren't catching fish.
  7. I don't really want to spend more than $100. I realized I mistyped originally but the combo im considering is a shimano sellus MH/XF with the cardinal S30 reel
  8. has anyone bank fished bob's fishing hole?
  9. Im more than satisfied with my casting setup. but im looking for a good setup for spinning to be able to have better finesse capabilities. something I can throw lighter tackle on but don't have to worry if I hook a bigger fish.
  10. Hey yall, Im beginning to look at getting a new rod. Im looking for a spinning setup to carry along with my baitcast setup. I would like to be able to throw anything from a 3/16 spinnerbait or rattle trap, to texas rig worms, to shakey heads, to crankbaits, and 3/4 spinnerbaits. Im looking at the idea of a medium heavy, extra fast rod with spinning reel. One pair that I was considering was a medium heavy extra fast dalwa sellus rod and abu Garcia cardinal S30 reel. I ran across an abu Garcia mike iaconelli spinning combo but I was unsure about the tip on it. Does anyone have an input on either setup or any recommendations on other good products to achieve the desired capability?
  11. I may have to plan a time to run out check out those places
  12. they were in the $2 box and were very sizeable lures so I may just give it a whirl
  13. My local walmart had packs of the YUM Money Minnows in one of the discount boxes. Very large baits, but look like some of the swimbaits ive seen on some of the pro videos. Does anyone have any experience with this bait?
  14. Glad I usually don't fish expensive baits. The quantity of cotten cordell rattle traps ive lost adds up and is a scary thought. The lures that bother most losing were the two booyah spinners ive lost the last two weeks. First one was a 6 pounder that wrapped around a sunken tree limb. The second was a four that popped the line as soon as I got him out of the water, and watched him swim off with the spinner still stuck to the side of his face.
  15. for $5 and getting four of them I like the gamble
  16. I bought the Dicks black max combo but ended up switching the rod to an inshore ugly stick and I love it. planning to add the silvermax to my unused vendetta rod
  17. I learned the grass part the hard way as I caught some grass trying to cast which led to a nasty birdsnest
  18. I may have to give that a try. I have spot in mind now where I can walk it close to some brush cover
  19. Where did you find this brand, and where can I get the 4 for 5 deal? Spinnerbaits are probably my favorite lures to throw, so im interested in the $5 gamble
  20. Has anyone had any luck with a super spook jr? I've got a black shiner colored one that I've tried a few times and have had no luck. Ive tried walking and pausing, and tried a continuous walk. Any ideas? Has anyone tried walking it close to cover versus open water?
  21. Thanks yall. Im in the Hampton Roads area. Im still in Virginia for school. My first fish was on Claytor Lake
  22. I mostly just bank fish. I have fished harwood mills. im planning on hitting lone star lakes this weekend.
  23. Hey yall, Im curious aboutgood places to go fish in the 757 area of Virginia.
  24. New on here from Southeast Virginia. Grew up saltwater fishing, but going to college in the mountains I was introduced to bass fishing. Landed my first largemouth in spring of 2012 using a 6" green straight tail worm that I learned how to texas rig from youtube. I have been hooked ever since and only get more and more passionate about bass fishing. My freshwater tackle is now about 4x of what I own for saltwater. Excited to see what everyone has to offer and see where people know to fish.
