Abu Garcia
Have vengeance, had vendetta, and have veritas. Huge fan of Abu, for rods and reels. Rods are on the stiff side but once you get used to them they are awesome. Have only ventured away from abu on one rod and two reels

New Casting Setup?
I would like to add another casting setup to my selection. Looking at a 7' MH setup, with either a vendetta or veritas 2.0 rod. The tougher decision is the reel, whether to go with Abu Garcia orra2 sx, or Quantum accursit. Does anyone have any experience with either reel? Playing with the displays in bass pro doesn't really do a reel justice.

Abu Garcia Vengeance Tip Replacement
This rod is going to get almost exclusively fluorocarbon. Thanks for the info though, Im confident I can tackle this now

Abu Garcia Vengeance Tip Replacement
The tip of my vengeance casting rod got damaged and needs replacing. I bought a tip replacement kit but the tip on the vengeance seems like it may be attached differently than just with glue. Has anyone replaced the tip on a vengeance? Do I just need to heat it up and slide it off or is it more involved?

Line Reccomendations For Spinning Reel?
Im really looking for a line that is manageable across many applications on a spinning reel. It is my only spinning setup. Visibility, manageability, and not overpowering the intended purpose are my main concerns.

Line Reccomendations For Spinning Reel?
For my spinning applications I feel like the visibility factor of fluorocarbon is beneficial. Im just not fond of tying leaders.

Line Reccomendations For Spinning Reel?
I had thought about 8-10lb Invizx. My hesitation with braid is the stretch properties and tying on leaders. I feel like a fluorocarbon would compliment the stiffer rod by offering some shock absorption.

Line Reccomendations For Spinning Reel?
I have a 7' MH Abu Garcia Vendetta spinning rod paired with a Shimano Slade 2000FA reel. Bought the setup for finesse fishing; shakey head, drop shot, weightless plastics, etc. Looking for a good fluorocarbon line to fill with because I don't like messing with leaders. What do y'all use or recommend?

Finding Water Temps?
I did find the usgs historical data for two along the river, one upstream from where I plan to fish, and one downstream. They seemed to be in the range for water temps you'd expect for the time of year.

Finding Water Temps?
there is a usgs guage nearby where I want to fish, but the usgs site doesn't show water temps

You Know You're A Fisherman When:
When you sit on your living room couch practicing your pitching into the old Christmas tree holder because its too cold to fish when you show up early afternoon and the first question you get asked is where you went fishing today when you get asked why you weren't in class and you reply "I was fishing" when you "don't have money" to go out with friends, but you just bought a new rod and reel

Panfish Limit For Meal?
Apologies if the title is kind of vague or anything, not sure how to pose this question. I have a couple ultralight zebco rods that some friends in college gave me because they didn't want to store them anymore, so I was thinking about using them from time to time for panfish. Specifically I have always heard that panfish and crappie are particularly good eating fish. So my thoughts were going to many different places that ive fished and pulling a limit of panfish to prepare as a meal sometime. So my questions are, is any species better eating than others, what should I look for, what are red flags, etc? I managed to catch a very nice crappie on a rattle trap fishing one day in a pond I fish for bass occasionally, but this pond has now taken on a sort of greenish-blue tint that seems to be artificial. I believe its an additive to keep algae and such down. How would this affect the safety of these fish to eat? Ive never gone freshwater fishing with the intentions of bringing home food so this is all new territory to me. Any inputs, tips, suggestions, warnings, etc, are welcomed and encouraged. Thanks for reading.

Oak Grove Lake Park, Chesapeake, Va
I don't have a kayak or boat or anything so bank fishing is how I spend 99% of my fishing time. I always keep my freshwater license up to date, but im guessing the check a lot? Definitely sounds like somewhere I may visit in the spring

Got Baits?
Here is a lure that not many people may know about. I have never used one, and have only ever seen one in a buddy's grandfather's tackle box. It's called a vibra bat. Check out the link, its a neat old lure. http://www.lurelore.com/vibrabat.html

Combo Ideas For 200 Bucks Give Or Take!
I recently added an Abu Garcia Orra SX to a vengeance I had, and bought a Vendetta Spinning rod. Early impressions my next rod will definitely be another vendetta, has been very good so far.
