  1. The guides are all straight, it is the blank that is slightly bent. It is easiest to see when I am not looking down the side with the guides on it. I castes the diesel and everything seemed fine. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't cause excessive wear or any other issues.
  2. They were shipped in a tube from TW. No damage to the tube. Now that I look at them it is probably closer to the 1/16" off center.
  3. I just had 2 rods delivered that I ordered. One is an *** Black 7' MF spinning and the other is a Powell Diesel 765 MHXF. Both rods, about 2/3 of the way up the rod are slightly bent. When I say slightly I mean somewhere between 1/16" to 1/8" off center at the tip of the rod. Is this an issue I should be concerned with or is it a non issue? Thanks for the help!
  4. Don't worry about it WV. It is a good idea and has been tried and done before. People just get salty because you end up getting people who take advantage of hte idea and use it as a way to collect tackle and never pay it forward to anyone else. However, if you do have anything you want to give away just post it in the Flea Market forums and it will be gone pretty quickly.
  5. I got back into bass fishing last year and have just been using some old gear that I had and a BPS carbonlite with a PQ reel. I bought plenty of plastics, jigs and lures in the interim but I was ready to upgrade my gear. Thanks to everyone here for all the input over the last year and advice. Here are the 3 new set ups I got along with lots of terminal tackle, line and some lures, jigs and plastics.... Powell Endurance 714 paired with a Lews TPSS 7.1:1 Powell Deisel 765 paired with a Lews SS 6.4:1 *** *** black 7' MF spinning with a Pflueger MGX I am excited to get everything and hit the lake.
  6. I just ordered 3 new reels (2 bait casters and 1 spinning) and I was wondering what most people do to them before the put on line and go fishing. I have read some oil and you are good to go. I have virtually no knowledge of completely breaking down a BC so nothing too crazy. Thanks!
  7. I am trying to decide between a 2000 and 3000 series spinning reel to be paired with a 7' MF *** Black spinning rod. Thanks!
  8. Congrats, I am glad you enjoy it! I don't use an anchor yet so I can't knowledgeably speak to that but you should be able to do a set up like you described. Scupper holes are absolutely safe to use. I just fished with two guys today who have Ride 115's and they both used scupper plugs on all the holes. I have a jackson cuda which has a storage area with a bucket in between my legs/feet and I pack my lunch and drinks with a ice pack into an insulated lunch bag and keep it in there. Lastly, I bought a small dry bag where I keep my wallet, keys and some other valuables. Good luck and enjoy, it's a great way to fish!
  9. Thanks for the input, just pulled the trigger on the 714 and a Lews TPSS 7.1:1.
  10. I am looking to buy a new plastics/jig rod. I am pairing it with a Lews TP SS 7.1:1. I was pretty set getting a *** black 7'3" MHF. However, I keep getting tempted by the Powell Endurance 714c or Powell endurance 723c. My question is if the XF action on the Powell will be too fast for the type of fishing I will be doing with it paired with 50lb braid. Also, which Powell would suit the type of fishing I am going to do better? Is there a downside to me getting the 714 vs the 723 or vice versa? Most of the weights I will be throwing are going to be 3/4 oz and under but I may occasionally toss weights up to 1 oz. Thanks in advance!
  11. I have decided to get a Lews TP. It will be paired with a 7'3" MHF rod mainly used for jigs and plastics. I am trying to decide between a 6.4:1 or the 7.1:1 ratio. From what I have read the 7.1:1 most likely is a better ratio for what I am doing but I have never used that ratio before and want to ask advice before I pull the trigger in the next few days. Thanks!
  12. I wanted input on this spinning setup. It will be used for dropshotting and light weight plastics. I am looking at getting a *** Black 7'1" Medium rod with a Lews Tournament HS 300 reel. I like the pricepoint on that reel and I am pretty set on that rod as I have recently had the ability to handle one. Let me know what you think, thanks!
  13. I am trying to decide between the two. It will be mounted on a 7'1" MHF mainly used for plastics and jigs. I am just trying to figure put if the Tourney Pro is worth the extra $100. I would appreciate input from any owners or people who have used them. Thanks in advance.
  14. Jackson also makes the Big Rig and Big Tuna for people looking for maximum stability. They also have the most comfortable seat on the market IMO. The seats also comes with an inflatable lumber support for additional back support. I have a cuda and I really like it.
  15. I am in SE PA and have been skunked every time I have been out this year. Water temp is still only 52 and I have been throwing a little bit of everything shallow, deep, around structure and some rip rap. Hopefully it will pick up soon!
  16. Just wanted to give people a heads up on a pretty good deal. I was at my local Wally World (SE PA) and they had the a Falcon Bucoo Micro's on sale for $100, down from $130. I just wanted to pass on a good deal in case someone was in the market.
  17. I have the 12 as well and I really like it. I have had it for a couple of weeks and I really like the way it is laid out for fishing and it has a great (comfortable) seat with the ability to go to a high and low position. Plus I find standing in it easy. My biggest recommendation is to find somewhere you can test it and test some other boats too. I tested the Cuda and the Wildy 115x. Going into the test I was pretty set on the 115x. The Wildy had better stability (to be expected) but I like the seat, tracking, standard options, and layout of the Cuda better. So, for me, it was a better option. HOwever, YMMV so I would try to get some butt time and figure out which you like best.
  18. I just got a Jackson Cuda 12 and I really like it. Good stability, hi and low seating adjustability and it has a 350 lb. capacity. I think the biggest thing is to try to get some seat time before you buy a kayak or canoe and see what feels best and works best for you. Good luck!
  19. I bought this one from amazon. It is supposed to arrive today. I decided on this one due to it receiving good reviews and being about $100 less than Thule and Yakima racks. http://www.amazon.com/Rola-59759-Roof-Honda-Civic/dp/B009QRWHYK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397916491&sr=8-2&keywords=Civic+rola+roof+rack
  20. Heavy, I think you will like it, jackson makes some quality products. I recently bought a Cuda 12 and have loved every minute of it. One thing I would recommend though is to buy and actual roof rack. I too have a Civic Si sedan and I used the Hobie speed foam (or something like that) roof top system. After 3 days of back and forth to the lake I noticed a small flat spot forming on my roof where the back door straps were. This was with my cuda that weighs 68 lbs. I have ordered a roof rack and it will be in tomorrow and I think I will be much happier with it. Have fun and be safe with the new yak. It is awesome being able to hit all the spots in your lake/ river and start having more success.
  21. Correction, my current paddle weighs about 40 oz.
  22. I just bought a Jackson Cuda 12 and I am really enjoying it. However, the paddle I bought is not great. In store if felt good but on the water it is heavy. It weighs 54 ounces and after being on the water for about 10 hours this weekend I discovered that I want to get a lighter paddle. The ones that I have been looking at are the Bending Branches Angler Pro and the Werner Camano and Werner Shuna. The only issue is I don't have access to a store to handle those paddles. I also do not know which Werner would better suit my needs. Length will either be 240 or 250cm though. I am 6'3". Thanks in advance for any input.
