  1. I think about a lot of different things, usually where I'm heading next. One thing I've noticed is I seem to catch the fish when I'm deepest in thought.
  2. Congrats! I'm with bolivier, the unique carpet makes it cool! Plus it's in good shape.
  3. MO_LMB: Since it appears that you have already started fishing this lake today, I hope you don't mind if I post under your topic with the same question but different lake... http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/9/Images/fishing/Lake%20Maps/pub274.gif How would you fish this one?
  4. I had to pass up a nice 17 foot Javelin Venom for $6,000 because total length with trailer included was too long for my storage. You are right where my price range was and I found at least three nice boats that I could have purchased.
  5. I bought this for $4,650.00 "for sale by owner" and am pretty happy with it.. 1995 Skeeter 1650, 75 HP Mercury, 50lb TM and basic fishfinder included.. I have since then put new tires on the trailer and replaced the two Optima TM batteries along with general maintenance.
  6. From my understanding, most states natural resource departments use license funding to protect wildlife and the fisheries we enjoy so much. That is the one time I do not mind paying the government money.
  7. I see/feel the tap, bring in the slack and put my whole body into arching backward and pulling the rod up on top of me. My friends give me crap but eh, who cares
  8. I'm fairly new around here but I'm definitely planning on going. Looking forward to finding out where it will be.
  9. I fish rocky fork in hillsboro, Ohio. Its not too far from cinci. I'm in need of a fishing partner too, if you're willing to meet me there.
  10. Fished rocky fork yesterday with the nice 80 degree weather.. I fished from 4-9 pm with no luck. It didn't help that there was a huge tourney just wrapping up when I got there. Rocky fork is a 1,9xx acre lake here in southeast Ohio for those who don't know.. I fished last week and could only pull two off a submerged log with a white trick worm, weightless. Water temp was about 73 degrees. Yesterday I spent most of my time on a spinnerbait, trick worm, tube, and spook.
  11. Not to change the subject, but Wayne P- what is that on your wacky rig?
  12. I too am not a fan of fishing alone. Just yesterday I took an Amish man and his two sons out to our local lake. I usually only fish for bass, but I worked to put them on bluegill all day. It was fun getting them out there where they can't usually go. Plus I owe it to him- he stores my boat in one of his barns for $25 a month! That's a steal in my area!
  13. I typically make a few trips to DHL in the summer months. It's not the greatest time to fish there and I typically only go out at night. I'm planning a trip in early December this year, which is supposed to be a good month to fish DHL. Unfortunately, I have never fished in the winter before and already have enough trouble trying to figure out a deep, clear lake like DHL. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm very excited to try this out!
  14. I fish out of Sunset Marina. I suggest going out at night from Dusk to 3am. At least that is what I do now. I used to go out at 6 am and fish til 11am in the summer months but it's not worth the sweat for all the more fish I was catching. It's a tough lake if you aren't accustomed to those clear deep lakes. I've been targeting the points all through the Obey river area and do pretty well. I typically use a Carolina rig. I'm planning a four day trip this December there. I've only ever been down there in the summer months, so I am looking forward to mixing it up. They say that December is one of the best months to fish DHL.
  15. I had no rules until I took my friend out this spring and he pulled out his iphone and set it on the console and had it playing rap over the speaker......I apparently have to have rules now.
  16. Lol, I believe I will start using your method from here on out.
  17. My lake wasn't too bad today! I don't regret going. But I think the scattered showers helped keep the rec boats and less dedicated fishermen away.
  18. I'm winging it today. I despise the summer weekends on my home lake but it's been too long since I've taken the boat out... I planned on getting out early this morning but as we speak I'm still sitting in the driveway waiting for my fishing buddy. So much for beating the crowd.
  19. How often do you replace the aforementioned items? I just bought a used boat and plan on replacing the impeller. I'm considering having the lower unit seals replaced too even though I don't have any noticeable problems in the seals as of right now. Typically I'd say if it isn't broke, dont fix it, but id like to see how often , if at all, you all replace those parts
  20. I love those tacomas but I am wondering how well they tow..i have a 16.5 foot skeeter right now so weight is not an issue, but down the road I may want something larger.right now i have a 06 dodge Dakota, 4.7 liter v8 6 speed manual.
  21. A nice bass pro shops baitcasting rod bobbing up and down in the middle of the lake with the plastic still on the cork! I ended up breaking the tip in transit months later..easy come easy go
  22. There is an additive sold by our local fish hatchery that is like a die packet that is used to give the water a blue color and control algae.. I convinced my father to stop using it.. I read that it destroys the biodiversity of a pond and kills off the tiny organisms that make up the bottom of the ponds food chain. of course, now he uses a different algae control that I suspect is leaving the pond very stained, there is almost no weed/algae growth which I believe is causing expedited bank erosion and muddy water.
  23. Prayers sent..Keep up the progress, one day at a time until it's gone. Jeff, thanks for posting the updates on here.
