  1. Has anyone tried these rods? I've had my eye on them for a little while now but I haven't really seen any reviews on them yet.
  2. I would have to say Daiwa and Falcon
  3. Those were my thoughts as well. I assume the Tatula XT will probably be a similar model with a little bit cheaper components, but one of the main reasons I mentioned the replacement was the new DX Bass rods that are close to the same price point at $140. I would assume though they are more than likely going to have a new generation coming out soon.
  4. I keep seeing sales for Tatula rods (which has been pretty exciting considering how great of rods they are). Are they about to introduce a new line of Tatula rods or is something replacing them?
  5. I would get the 6'10" MH or the 7'1" MH. The medium could probably handle 3/8 oz baits just fine, but I would still recommend a MH rod. It just handles that size of bait better
  6. I have a 6'6" M and i am very happy with it for most of my finesse applications. Can't beat it for $60
  7. The Tatula Rod is a great choice. It has a ton of backbone and great sensitivity
  8. I'm gonna have to second the tatula rod. For $150 it's hard to find a rod that is as durable and sensitive as this one
  9. I will have to agree with the Daiwa Tatula. They are great rods: sensitive and incredibly durable. I would give it a try
  10. I think you are in good shape getting a lightning rod, I have only heard good things about them. As was mentioned early, I would look into the Ethos rod at Academy. For $60 it is hard to beat
  11. I have a Duckett Ghost in a 7' MH and I have no complaints ( I use it for mostly Texas Rigs). I would also take a look at the Falcon Bucoo. I use this rod for Texas rigs as well and I find it to be a little more sensitive. For $10 more I would look at the Falcon Bucoo
  12. I would look into a Lew's American Hero Combo. I'm not sure if there is a deal you can beat in this price range based on what you're getting for $90. That combo should last you the 2-3 years easily for only $90. Hope this helps!
  13. Also I'm not sure if you've taken a look at the new Carbonlite rods, but from what I could tell in the store and what I've heard that are great rods for $100. I would check those out as well
  14. That price is a steal for what those reels are worth. That being said, I would check and make sure that they are in working condition and that you are not about to buy two reels that have been trashed beyond repair
  15. My girlfriend has the lady's version, which is the same rod and reel with a different paint job (6'6" M). She seems to love the rod and from the few times I have used it I think its a nice set up. The reel is what really stood out to me because, as all pflueger spinning reels seem to perform, it is an incredibly smooth reel. I'd say its a good buy! Hope this helps!
  16. I got my dad one a few Christmas's ago and I almost picked up one for myself. I fished it a little and it is very light weight and sensitive. Obviously everyone has there own feel for what they want in a rod but I think you'll be happy with it. I would play around with the ghost and Veritas in store and see if you like the feel of those too. Hope this helps!
  17. Well first I would recommend getting a spinning set up. That will allow you to throw lighter applications like drop shots and shaky heads. If you are covered on that I would recommend a shorter rod if you wanted something for jerk baits and top water applications (or something along those lines). I would get another reel in the 6:1 range and I would get a 6'6" to 6'9" with a Medium to MH power. I would try to get a softer tip on the rod. I hope this helps!
  18. Ill have to agree with the ethos. It is a great rod for the price and performs like a $100 rod for about $60. You could also look into the Abu Garcia Vengence
  19. I was just curious to here your thoughts on this rod. I have the 7'2" H casting rod and I wanted to here others thoughts on this rod or other models in this line up
  20. I'd say rod over reel. A sensitive and strong rod will allow you to feel out more fish than a more expensive reel on a lower end rod.
  21. Two reels I would recommend right at the $100 dollar price point are the Lew's Speed Spool and an Abu Garcia Orra SX. I have experience with bother of the reels and have no complaints with either reel
  22. I'm usually throwing 1/2 ounce spinnerbaits on a 6'9" MH Kistler Pro Series rod. This rod handles these baits like a champ, but if you're throwing something heavier, you may want a little longer rod. I'm not really sure what kind of waters you're fishing or if you are making tight or open water cast, but I would look into Kistler rods because they seem to have the right action for me. Since your price range is a little bit higher than what I am typically spending on rods, I would look into a Kistler KLX rod. I hope this helps!
  23. Just to stay fairly cost affective, I have a few rods in mind around the $100-$120 range that I personally use in my arsenal and can say they all have a great amount of sensitivity. The Falcon Bucoo packs a ton of sensitivity into a rod at $110 and I can't say enough good things about this rod. The Kistler Carbon Steel (mines actually a pro series but I'm fairly certain they are the same rod and components) is another great option coming in at $120. Last is a Duckett ghost. These rods perform very closely to the more expensive Micro Magic rods and are a great buy at $100. I keep seeing post about the *** Black and I cannot personally speak on that rod, but my father has one paired with one of his speed spools and he has plenty of good things to say about that rod. Hope this helps!
  24. I would look at the Daiwa Tatula. They have great sensitivity and a ton of backbone
  25. I use my Revo SX on my 6'9" spinnerbait rod and I have nothing but good things to say about it. This reel balances the rod perfectly and casts like a dream. I got my reel off Amazon for some where between $130 to $140 brand new so I would check there if thats what you go with. Hope this helps!
