  1. as if being a "columnist" for an athletic apparel company (?) or having "special credentials" for wearing a ballcap isn't a reach? My comparison is spot on. Wearing medals your didn't earn and wearing a jersey you didn't earn implies to others that you are something when you are not. Nobody is going to see me in a nike shirt and confuse me with Phil Knight. If someone added sponsors to a BR jersey, I wouldn't have a problem. that's "my opinion", which was asked for by the OP, so stop with the snarkiness.
  2. Maybe I'll push my local tackle shop to look at getting their lures from them. Their markups now are a bit hefty and their selection is mediocre.
  3. are you putting on that football jersey and stepping on the field? For your sake, I hope not. Sorry, but if I see a guy wear a biker shirt/ fishing jersey but aren't actually sponsored, I'd have a negative first impression. What about those guys who wear military medals but never served? Displaying national pride and attracting new recruits, or a toolbag looking for attention? If I ever wear a jersey, it will be because I earned it. Until then, I'll stick with BR sticker on my truck and hope someone I pass see's it and visits.
  4. Sorry, it is Gawdy Publish some articles or videos for BR and then wear it.
  5. Not bad, spend about $400 retail for products and only spend 300. I'll have to keep my eye open for deals on their gift cards.
  6. I imitate small bluegill especially when punching Lily pad fields. bluegill "pop" bugs off the undersides of pads so when I bounce a watermelon blue/orange flake plastic under the pads it imitates something bass see and eat every day. On the river bouncing a jig n trailer in brown across bottom gets hit a lot by smallies. throwing a white swimsenkos across a point imitates a shad being ambushed. you can imitate prey and it does work. It matters less with reaction style baits. However the right color on a reaction bait can be useful in the lure being spotted and struck.
  7. I'm saying they don't care. If it takes a discount for you to buy product then they'll do it. and with 20% sale you'll end up saving roughly 90 bucks not 30.
  8. financial wizard. like tw cares. you are spending money with them. what's your total savings. I'm poor in math.
  9. shell cracker always seemed too bulky on 3/8 for my tastes
  10. 3/8 revenge swim jigs work year round I use missile twin turbos and swimsenkos trimmed down.
  11. Anyone know what size bearings the Lews Laser MG Speed spool uses? They aren't listed on Boca's website. I'd like to upgrade this reel along with my lexa 100. Speaking of the lexa100, will I have to go with the boca bearings? I wanted to support hawgtech, but it doesn't appear they have the right size. Boca shows that their lexa100 pack has 2 bearings in different sizes.
  12. 1/8th and smaller. 5' is vital in getting through the brush and hiking.
  13. I need to upgrade my trout fishing gear for the upcoming season. I'm looking at a 5' UL st croix with a lightweight reel (7.2oz) I've trout fished a long time with 4# mono throwing super dupers, panther martins and drifting the occasional egg. I'm going to start targeting bigger brown trout (14+ inches) in small rivers with jerkbaits along with lures listed above. Does anyone have suggestion on what brand/type of line I should get? Pline copolymer got good reviews on tackle tour, but poor reviews on TW. Should I go pure fluoro? Will the sub 40 degree temperatures effect the fluoro?
  14. 3/8 brush similar to 1/2 but slower fall
  15. Should I go swept handle or straight? What is lexa100 weight with the 94mm?
  16. Have you got your hands on that Lexa yet?
  17. I agree, but was just posting something I had read when searching for swimbait info.
  18. I just got the 7.1 Lexa 100 for christmas and since it's still the off season, I was just wondering what kind of modifications can I make to it? I could upgrade the bearings, but I'm under the impression that many daiwa parts are interchangeable...am I mistaken? I'm not dead set on modifying the reel, but I am curious as to what is possible.
  19. I just got a *** *** 7'3" H xfast action. Probably out of your price range, but I'm going to use it for punching and frogging as it has length, power and a good action to fling the frog and walk it. *** comes in a 7'3" H for 130 bucks with a fast action. I'd also suggest looking at Daiwa and Lews rods as they have a large assortments at various price ranges. My 7' Team Daiwa T rod in MH also works satisfactory with punching and good with frogging and is under 80 bucks.
  20. I've considered picking up a trout swimbait...reason being, trout are stocked often around here and surely a big bass will pound some of the smaller ones. But I've read that California bass are really the only bass that are conditioned to eat trout. Another concern is that when they stock, the bass are inactive and unlikely to chase down a trout...before the musky kill them all. As for swimbaits under 6 inches and <1.5 oz....I don't see any reason not to use them as that's not an outrageous size for a bass's meal.
  21. I'm not sure who produced the m1. it's at my parents (shared gift with my dad) I'll have to ask for serial. my girlfriend got me a lexa100 reel...goes great with the ***
  22. m1 carbine that my dad restored and a 7'3" H *** ***....After I asked for an ***. quite the surprise.
  23. never considered a d-bomb on a shakey
