Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Leaving for Nashville on Thursday. I'm fishing Center Hill Lake Sunday and Monday. I'm told the fishing will be tough down there, so we'll be heading out super early to beat the heat. Hoping to crush my PB down there. Will post some pics for sure when I return. I hope everyone has a great holiday and has a chance to do some fishing.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
There must have been a very recent hatch because there were fry all over the place. I think they were perch, but not sure. I noticed an antennae in a SM belly so they are obviously munching on craws. Just an insane day of fishing for me. My mind was blown and I have been completely believe in the power of the jig, esp in bodies of water known for large fish. I don't think you can go wrong with one tied on.

Quabbin Opener
Great fish man!! I crushed it again there yesterday. 8 SM over 4 pounds, including 2 that hit 5. Only one 2 LM caught the rest were SM monsters. Here are some pics. Can't say enough good things about this body of water. My only negative, it's a 2 hour haul for me, but well worth it.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Had my best day fishing ever yesterday. Was on the Quabbin Resovoir in Petersham, MA at 6AM. We fished for about 2 hours with top water baits with no luck. Finally around 10 AM we started catching fish. My buddy hooked on to a 3.5 large mouth then seconds later I caught this 4.5 pound smally. We then got 2 at the same time. A 3.5 and 4.5 respectively. We caught 8 SM all over 4 pounds and 2 that just hit 5 on the boga grip. Pretty incredible day. All fish were caught close to shore but in deep pools 15 to 30'. Used a drop shot and 1/2 oz jig with craw trailer for most of the day. My buddy used jigs and worms all day. The smallies were schooling and hitting our lures hard. I'm going to try and get back there again next week. I cannot say enough great things about the Quabbin. Here are some more pics including my 5 pounder.

Quabbin Opener
Was there on Wednesday. Smallies were close to shore, but def in deeper water. We drifted with the wind about 20 feet from shore and caught some very nice fish. Not great #'s, but the quality was amazing. Catch of the day belonged to my buddy - 4.5 pound SM. Biggest one I've seen this year. Drop shot is helpful, but any weighted plastic rig should work. We caught em on T-rigged worms and craws, and some topwater early AM. I'll be heading back next week before the bass head deeper for the summer. What an amazing place to fish. A Massachusetts treasure for sure.

Been getting into some nice fish the past few weeks. Nabbed my biggest smally of the year - 3.5 pounds. This is from a NH lake. But my best day came on the Quabbin on Wednesday. Got a bunch of nice fish, nothing under 2 pounds. But the catch of the day belonged to my buddy. Beautiful SM tipped the scale at 4.5 - pic doesnt do it justice. Biggest one I've seen this year. I know this is a NH thread, but the Quabbin is simply amazing. Just a peaceful pristine place to fish. I'll be going back next week before the bass head deep for the summer. If you've never been, I highly recommend it.

I just booked my flight for Nashville Jul 3rd thru the 8th. My brother in law owns a house on Center Hill Lake, and he doesn't fish. The lake is 64 square miles. I dropped a note in the Southeast section looking for a good guide. I'd like to fish at least 2 days with a guide while I'm there. Should be interesting, as I've never fished down south. Gonna bring some heavier line for sure!!

Thanks for the words. I've been with the same company for 6 years, so it's probably time for a change. I haven't hit Mendum yet this year, but I love that place. Such a fun lake with hardly any boaters. Maybe I'll see you out there over the next few weeks. If you see a green Nucanoe, that's me. Feel free to say hello. I've yet to meet anyone on this board in person.

Chatterbait Fishing
I've been crushing it this spring with the Rage Blade. Craws, grubs, and flukes as trailers have all worked. I've been sticking to the green pumpkin color and its been producing some good fish. Like everyone said, if you can feel that blade moving, fish will bite. Seems I've had a chatterbait or rage blade tied on every outing this spring.

Center Hill Lake, Tn - Nh Guy Needs Help!
Hey TN anglers, I'm from NH and will be heading to TN July 3rd thru the 8th. I'll be staying at a friends house on Center Hill Lake. I don't know much about the lake other than its massive compared to lakes I usually fish up here, and from what I've been reading, it appears to be an excellent fishery. My friends family doesn't fish - can you believe it?? I'm going to try to bring a couple rods and some tackle, but since I always get such great advice from the board here, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good guide in the area. I just want to have some fun and catch bigger bass than I've ever caught. I'm looking to get out on a boat at least 2 days. My brother will most likely be joining me. Any info. is appreciated!!

Traveling With Rods And Tackle
One more tidbit, my sisters husbands family has never caught a fish on this lake. I don't even think they own any rods. Seems like a waste of a lake house, if you ask me.

Traveling With Rods And Tackle
So, I'll be in TN for the week of the 4th of July. My sister's husband has a house outside Nashville on Center Hill Lake. Its 64 sq miles, and will def. be the biggest and surely most overwhelming body of water I've fished - besides the ocean. I was wondering if you guys have advice for bringing gear on a trip. I don't want to overpack but I want to bring at least 2 rods with me, and as much tackle as my weight limit will allow. Any advice??

So, I'm officially laid off as of Tuesday. Kind of a shocker, but I guess I have the next few weeks, or months, to beat my PB. I was hardly getting out at all this summer, due to the job, so may be this is a blessing in disguise. I'll be doing plenty of fishing during the week, so maybe I'll see some of you on the water!

Lost my 2 biggest fish this season on a Rage Blade. I hate guessing weight, but they were both big girls that I'm sure would have come close to the 5lb mark. Both from buddy's dock on his lake house in southern Maine, and they both threw the hook in mid air in front of a crew of my friends. I recently switched to a right handed retrieve on my baitcaster. I'm suffering from some tendonitis issues in my right wrist, that are only getting worse so I'm fully committed to reeling with my right hand and jigging with my left. I'm assuming I didn't properly set the hook. Maine seems to be where it's at this Spring. In addition to seeing "Maine's" posts on the board this season, I witnessed a bunch of 4 pounders and two 5's caught this weekend. Never have I seen that many bass, that size, in a weekend, on a New England lake.

I'll be heading further north this weekend - not sure where yet. Should be on the water every day, rain or shine. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and looking forward to seeing what everyone catches. I have a feeling some monsters will be posted on here next week!

Who Wants In New England: May
Its great to see all the pics. I'm just not getting out there enough to add to the board. I am looking forward to a full weekend of fishing. I'll be heading a little further north than normal. Rain or shine I'll be on the water all weekend.

Maine, those are some beauties. Glad to see people landing some great fish this early in the season. Hoping to get out for a few hours this afternoon.

Yeah man, it was me and one other canoe on the water. The other guy didn't see one bass. I def found a little honey hole. Had em chasing up to the boat on almost every cast. Sometimes 2 at a time. I was using the natural perch color. It was the only color that worked. The rainbows were devouring a red eye shad in the same color as well. I gotta say, despite the broken rod, and crazy wind situation, it was an awesome day to be out there.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
So today was a little rough out there. I managed to snap the tip of my brand new Cumara about 15 mins into my day. Also, I almost got stuck out there, as I lost track of time, and started losing juice on my little trolling motor. The wind blew my on the opposite side of the lake, far from the launch spot. I had to dock my kayak at a random cabin. I flagged down a lady, who gave me a ride back to the launch - i was 2 miles away by car. A fellow angler helped me get my kayak out of the water. All in all, a hectic day, but I did manage to find a nice area of the lake holding a bunch of smallies - 5-10 ft of water. Got 3 good sized ones and a bunch of rainbows. Smallies were chasing my KVD squarebills right up to the boat. Oh, thanks to Bob for recommending Lovell Lake. Will be going back there for sure - with a bigger battery!!

What's everyone thoughts on Pawtuckaway? Haven't been there in years. Not a huge lake, but plenty of water to explore. Also it may be little easier for us seacoast guys as far as travel. I'm open to any suggestions, just my 2 cents.

Thanks Bob. I'll be in my yak, so I think I'm leaning towards Lovell.
