  1. unfortunately, I hooked one on a local lake. Didn't t notice it in the area diving, but I thought I caught a rock or a log, and up comes loon. I'm much more careful of my surroundings, especially on lakes with a healthy population of loons. Amazing birds, love seeing them out there, but they make me nervous.
  2. I'm heading there this holiday weekend. Ill be staying on Burton Island State Park. Any advice for fishing this monster lake is appreciated.
  3. I'm heading to Burton Island State Park - St. Albans's VT, this holiday weekend. It will be my first time fishing Champlain. Been off the water the past 2 weeks. Can't wait to get out there.
  4. David, I discovered Mendums when I moved to NH and I absolutely love that place. I usuallly rent canoes from the UNH rec.center. I'm in Maine this weekend, but I'll keep an eye out for your boat next time I'm up there - most likely next weekend! Shane, aprreciate teh recs on the jon boat or bass buster. If you have anything specific in mind wiht your connects let me know. My only issue, like I mentioned is storage, during and after the season.
  5. Shane, I actaully have a F-150. As far as a boat, i'm not too sure. My knowledge of watercraft is fairly limited, but I really dont need anyhting too extreme. Would love to just have something that with a motor that I can take everywhere. My biggest issue is storage as I live very close to downtown Ports. in a 2 bedoroom apt w no yard or driveway - street parking only.
  6. I've been sifting through this thread all day, and def. have found some valuable info. I'm new to the Seacoast area, and I dont know of any ponds or streams nearby w/o venturing up too far Rt 4, that i can hit after work for a couple hours. I fish Medums and Swains on most weekend, in my friends canoe, but it would be nice to have a spot or two closer to Ports to drop a line in after work. Dont want to step on anyones toes, but I'm eager to find some new places in NH to experience. And yes, I'm dying to get a boat, canoe, kayak or pretty much anyhting that can get me closer to the fish. Once again, nothing but nice folks on hear. Much appreciated!
  7. Hi All, I'm new to this site, and fairly new to Bass fishing. Lots of good local info in this thread. Appreciate the knowledge and tips!
  8. Hi All, Stumbled across this site, and Im thouroughly impressed with the knowledge and suggestions people have been posting in the forums. I'm 35 yrs old from Portmsouth, NH. I've only been fishing for about 3 years, and I primarily fish fresh water even though I live on the beautiful NH coast. My PB was as 6lb LM caught at the Quabbin Resovoir in Mass this past spring - my profile pic.. I know you southern fellas won't be too impressed, but it's the biggest LM I've seen pulled out of the water in my short fishing career. Caught another one this summer over 5.5 at a very small discreet pond in the Berkshires - Mass. I fish a lot of ponds and lakes in NH, but suprsingly my two PB's have come from Mass this year. I look forward to learning from you all, and I hope to meet some fellow New Englanders out on the water.
