  1. this 5.5lber was caught on a 90 degree day last August in a tiny private pond in the Berkshires. 1st cast right off my friends dock.
  2. Thanks Shane. I have some cheaper Shimanos that I've been very happy with. I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it. I think it might be time to step up to the Cumara. Just wish BPS had some to touch - brought my reel with me and everything. Somehow I remember the Foxborough store having a better/larger selection of casting rods. It seemed like everything in Hooksett was spinning. Might be time for a trip to Cabelas.
  3. Looking to pair my new Chronarch 200E with a 7' MH baitcaster for jigs. I own a couple of Shimano Rods that I love but I'm open to any suggestions. Was unimpressed with the selection of casting rods at the new BPS in Hooksett.
  4. what would be the best overall gear ratio for a crankbait specific rod?
  5. i have a little trolling motor on my yak so no problems going some distance. I just checked out that area on google maps and there is a put in over near the apt. buildings. Bough my yak in late september, so I'm itching to get it back out on the water. Thanks again for the advice, and if you feel like PM'ing me the details on the that old hatchery in Northwood, I wouldn't complain. Saw your post in the NH thread. I can keep a secret.
  6. will check it out for sure. thanks!
  7. meant to say bought a SOT kayak btw
  8. Anyone have any experience fishing/paddling the rivers on the NH coast? I live in Portsmouth and have yet to fish any of the rivers around here. Bought a SOT last fall and plan to use it quite a bit this spring. Any advice for the Lamprey/Piscataqua/Cocheco? Best places to put in. not that familiar with the area so any advice is appreciated.
  9. I bought a Nucanoe Frontier 12' last fall. A little expensive, but I couldn't be happier.
  10. is anyone else going stur crazy with this weather? i'm really hoping for a short winter. would love to take a trip down south to ease the pain.
  11. thanks for the advice. I'm leaning towards the St. Croix Avid, but may change my mind once I check em out in person.
  12. My brother got me a Shimano Chronarch 200e6 for Christmas. Would like to pair it with a MH rod, something versatile. Looking to keep it under $200. I'm open to any brands.
  13. found this on youtube and thought it was pretty cool. Hand feeding bass on lake winnisquam. bass come in at the 1:10 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piqpX3I8VUk
  14. Been fishing Swains the last few weekends with not much sucess. I'll be out on the water tomorrow, but not sure where to go. Any suggestions?
  15. well i guess i don't need too much arm twisting. I'm gonna dress warm and see if I can catch one last lunker before the season is done for me. will definitlley be using my arsenal of cranks. have yet to land anything on a crank this fall.
  16. so it's just started to get cold here in southern NH. I'd like to get out on the water a couple more times before winter, but I've been having such terrible luck lately. should i call it a season, or should I get after it a few more times this weekend?
  17. Ok thanks. The rec. center is open to UNH students only after Sept. I don't mind carrying in, but I may be solo, so I hope its not too far of a hike.
  18. I'm heading out in the AM, but I will be on the water all day. Not too often I get a day off from work. Where can i put my boat in at Mendums? I always go to the UNH rec. center and I believe they are closed after Sept.
  19. So i pulled the trigger on the NuCanoe. Picked up a trolling motor and battery today. I'm taking her out for the first time tomorrow. I usually hit Mendums or Swain's - I live in Portsmouth. Anyone have any other rec. of lakes off 16 with good boat access? always get great advice on here.
  20. So I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on a Kayak this weekend . I've used Native's before, but I'm gonna test out a Nucanoe Frontier. Anyone have experience with Nucanoe's? I've received some advice in another thread, but it seems this thread always delivers for me. Any help is appreciated!!
  21. I really appreciate the info. and the offer, but i think I'm going to head to a shop this weekend and test a Frontier and possibly 2 other boats before it gets any colder. It seems the shops I've talked to are all looking to make a deal for the end of the season here, so I'm hoping I can get a few bucks off retail. Glad to know you recommend the transport wheels, as it does seem a little heavy to handle out of the water.
  22. So I've been looking at some models, and I'm leaning towards picking up a Nucanoe Frontier. Anyone out there know anything about these hybrids kayaks. They look really cool, but I'm not sure if there are any downfalls or other brands people on here would recommend. I laways get great advice on the forums, so I figure I'd ask.
  23. It feels untouched way up there, especially being so close to the border. I really like the Northeast Kingdom as well, however, I've only fished a few smaller ponds in that area. I'm going to plan a few trips next summer, one being Wilgus State Park on the Connecticut River. It seems like a really cool park with direct access to the river.
  24. So I caught my first big small mouth on Champlain this weekend. No pics.(phone was dead) and no witnesses as my friends were still sleeping when I took a stroll around Burton Island Sunday morning and fished solo. It came in slightly over 4 pounds and fought all the way to the shore. The bite was tough all weekend, and other than my "phantom" fish, as my friends called it, we only caught 2 bass over 2 pounds - although we did have a few decent sized one's throw their hook. We fished Lake Carmi on Saturday. We knew nothing about this lake and just needed a place to crash on our way to Champlain. We only fished their for a couple hours, we got their late Saturday, but I have to say it was one of the coolest places I've ever fished. Caught my first Pike and Walleye within the fist half hour on the lake. Amazing experience, and although I wont stop fishing in Southern NH, I will certainly be doing a lot more fishing in VT next summer. Tip of the cap to VT State Parks.
