  1. Does anyone know how to catch gar in clear lakes with no weeds? I know about rope lures and that is about it. Thanks Ben Eipert
  2. I normally do it with 3. I start with one at 30, leave the next guide out, then the next one at 160. I string it up with line and put it under load and move the middle guide around until it keeps the line the farthest off the blank. Then just continue spacing as normal.
  3. The only thing I can think of to do is to go with a rod from around 7'6¨ to 8'. I would look for something really fast action- like a popping cork rod used on flats, and find one that is around 8-14 test. The length should make it easy enough to cast light baits for perch but should still cushion the line enough for a striper.
  4. I would give a tube a shot. I have a lot of luck with those in clear water. My personal favorite is a smoke with blue flake or smoke and chartreuse. Just cast them out and jig or swim them back.
  5. This is all I use on my bass rods. It is absolutely fantastic when it comes to weight reduction but still being able to pull fish in. I have had the most luck using the PacBay Minima 4 guides in size 3 and 4 as runners. Ben Eipert
  6. Alright. Thanks again. You have cleared things up quite a bit. Ben Eipert
  7. Thanks! The roundhead with screwlock keeper has the hook sizes that are a little bigger. Only issue is I do no like the screw lock keeper, I think ther tear up baits more. Can I use the wire keepers in that mold or just go with the roundhead with wire keeper. Also would smaller hooks be that much of an issue anyway? Thanks, Ben Eipert
  8. For the price you cannot beat the Minimas or the Nano Micro Guides. I haven't had a problem with them ever.
  9. I have been spending a lot of time on it. I have narrowed it down between the worm nose with screw-lock, the round head with wire keeper, or the shake it jig with screw lock. I just was wondering if anyone had recommendations. Thanks, Ben Eipert
  10. I am wanting to start pouring jigs and need advice on a good mold to start with. I will be fishing the Powell side of Lake Norris in TN. It is a deep clear lake, I fish mainly sparse brush and rocks. The visibility is between 12-8ft most of the time. I love to throw tubes on light heads, flukes, light jigs, and worms. I already have a friend that I get traditional jigs from (jig and pig) and just need something that is versatile and can be used to fish a tube. Mostly just lighter finesse tactics. Thanks ahead. I know this is a bunch but I have had a hard time figuring this out. I am looking at the screw lock worm jighead and the ball head with the wire keeper. Thanks, Ben Eipert
