^^ This ^^ !! ... In order to get a good ZMan chatterbait you have to go to like the $9.00 Pro Premium Delux Model ... To heck with that , the Foggy by Seibert (Mike) is solidly made , uses good materials , awesome color selection and fair price . The ONLY time I stray from the Seibert Foggy is occasionaly when I need to find something quick locally I will go to WM and get a Rage Blade .

Many good choices listed - however being from Georgia I use a lot of Zoom soft plastics (Zoom is based here in Georgia) ... My favorites from Zoom : Trick Worms , Finesse Worms , Baby Brush Hogs , Super Flukes , Fat Albert Grubs , Ultravibe Speed Craws , Lizards and the Centipede make for a well rounded offering . , I do like Yum , Berkley , Strike King , Yamamoto , Big Bites , V&M , Roboworm and Reaction Innovations offerings as well ... Like everyone else - I have my favorites from each supplier - but I find Zoom the best over all soft plastics I have found for my needs .

T-9 : No cover here much .. Mostly clear , rocky bottom . Would a short leader of FC be ok - or better to stick to copoly for leader ?

Thanks for replies ... I have a few trust issues with my current coploy choice (#6 lb. Fluroclear) and may take a look at P-Line regular CX (not CX-X) or maybe the YoZuri coploy in #6 lb.as a main line when it's warmer ... For colder weather , Power Pro #8 lb. with a short leader of copoly with a ML rod and a looser drag setting I should be ok - if I remember to practice good "reel set" hygene !

I have a new 7' ML action rod mated with a new President 2500 series spinning reel . Now I need to choose a line for the set up - currently I have the following in my home inventory : * P-Line #6 Fluroclear Copoly * Seaguar #6 InvizX FC * Power Pro #8lb. Braid (which I would run with a copoly or FC leader). If it helps , I mainly fish shallow from shore - so good casting distance is a requirement BUT I want to minimize hurting the action of the 1/16th oz. mushroom head TRD on the fall and while gently working the bait ... Curious how you lose so many Ned Rig Jigs if you are swimming them without making bottom contact ?

The best place to find Ned rig jigs is in the KC , Missouri area ! If you don't live there just order the Z-Man Ned Rig Jigs from BPS or similar stores .

For your bass jigs (football , pitching , flipping , & swimming) do you fan out the weed guard bristles OR leave them alone in a single clump of bristles ? Any advantages you find to fanning out the weed guard or leaving them alone in a single clump (i.e. stock) ?

I think the key to a Neko rig set up is a worm that is approx. 6" ~ 7" length , with a nose large enough to accept a weight and lastly with enough action and flexibility to giove good action ... An old timer I met at DSG recently likes the 6" Strike King KVD worm - but then he looked around and said he was going to hoard all of the 6" ElazTech worms from Z-Man in GP and Junebug colors for himself for the Neko rig (too funny !!) ... I would have to think that a 6" ElazTech worms would stand up great and perform well with the Neko rig ...

Good replies and considerations - yes the nose of the worm can't be too skinny to accept the Neko weight !

No problem - will add I saw a couple of worms that might work on a Neko rig : a Robo Fat Worm 6" or 7" length and a Reins Swamp Mover 6" and Bubbling Shaker 7" worm ...I have not used any of these three worms yet though .

What brand , series and length worm do you like best for using with a Neko Rig ? I'm after a worm which is a little softer , has more fluid movement and at least has some semi-floating capability versus the current Zoom Finesse and Trick Worm I currently use .

While Green Pumpkin (and Black & Blue for that matter ...) are always mentioned as favorite jig head colors - brown as a jig head color is rarely mentioned . Just curious how many throw a brown football jig or brown arky jig on occasion and what decides your choice between throwing green pumpkin and brown ? Thanks in advance ... I have a fair amount of pumpkin colored trailers which might do well with brown color jigheads .

^^This^^ ... While the 2.0 is slightly lighter within each action - they still tend to run closer to the next stiffer action than other similar rods . This is why I believe the 2.0 M is closer to a MH than it is to a M or ML .

Dypsis is rigging the Neko as I learned to rig it with the point of the hook facing the tail not quite half way up from the head of the worm . The way Ike stated to rig the worm is a bit different then how others rig the Neko - you will find more examples of people rigging the Neko exactly as Dypsis shows ...

What attributes do you believe make for a good football jig rod ? ... Length , action , bend profile , grip style ? Anything else you would like to add would be helpful ...

1 . Wacky Rig either on a drop shot OR a small 1/16th oz. wacky jig head . 2 . Rig with hook exposed on a 1/16th oz. Ballhead Jig - cast out then use lift , drop , retrieve method on or near the bottom. 3 . Slip Shot Rig : 8lb. FC line , 3/16th oz. pegged bullet weight (up 14" ~ 18" from 3" Stick-O) , finally T-Rig Stick-O using a #1 EWG hook. The above will get you started ...

I'll chime in - Big Head Wobbler skirt color intricacy / detail is outstanding ! Bluegill and craw skirt colors are more difficult to pull off than shad color skirt colors ...

^^This^^ ... The only modification to add is trying a 1/2" ~ 3/4" piece of clear shrink tubing , heat slightly for firm fit and finally run your hook perpindicular to the worm right through the middle which can assist in making a worm last longer .
