  1. I asked about P-CX not P-CXX (which I'm familiar with) ... As always though Tom - I appreciate you chiming in .
  2. How many rig hook sideways vs. straight up & down ?
  3. *Moderator* : Please move to Rods, Reels & Lines ... I accidently placed in wrong category - Thanks !
  4. The description on these two lines from P-Line is very similar : Fluorocarbon coated co-polymer lines ... For those that have used both - what differences in the two lines have you experienced ? Do you favor one line over the other ?
  5. ^^This^^ ... Great size for drop shot or shakyhead - I only have to learn one line now and buying in a larger spool saves $$ !
  6. ^^This^^ ... I have three of them - awesome reel for the price and often go on sale for $39.00
  7. As always DVT - very informative reply ! Thanks ...
  8. I use Green Pumpkin , Water Melon Candy Red and Black & Blue (depending on water clarity and sky conditions) ... Use a C-Rig or T- Rig to drag the bottom in short bursts or slowly raise & drop retrieve using a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook , add some scent and you will get bit - cool hook slot and good basic action without being over the top plus good durability. I would also have no quelms throwing it weightless or with a pegged bullet weight to flip & pitch with it into light to moderate cover . Very under rated bait - I have great confidence in it and consider it to be in the top upper third of ALL lizard baits available. Although it doesn't come in all the colors of say Zoom lizards , the construction (hook slot) of the Boss Dog allows for a more streamlined , better look once rigged . For me , a soft plastic that is easier to rig and looks better once rigged is a confidence booster - hope this review helps !
  9. Never had a casting rod with micro guides before : Any tactic , technique or line type that is a disadvantage for using a casting rod with micro guides ? For a first casting rod with micro guides I am considering a Veritas 2.0 M or MH to try (i.e. top water , spinners , soft plastics and jigs) .
  10. 12lb to 15lb. Mono (Sufix , Big Game , Stren , etc.) Nothing fancy here - just a good mono with a little line diameter to it so it floats high . 30lb. Braid (Power Pro , Sufix , etc.... take your pick - with or without a mono leader ) . 12lb to 15lb Co-Poly (perhaps McCoy if you can find it - No to C-XX) For top water, mono and braid are better choices and certainly easier to find !
  11. Thanks guys - I believe bass get a bit of lock jaw on a rising barometer and sunny cloudless days can make them stay a bit tighter to available cover or make a more finesse approach more appealing under tough conditions . Early & late though could provide an opportunity for top water action where perhaps I can be a bit more aggressive ?
  12. After a cold front with rain during pre-spawn / spawn when you get those two or three straight days of warm up , cloudless , sunny , bluebird conditions - what are your favorite lures and techniques to use on these bluebird days ? * Again I indicate the current season (pre-spawn / spawn) which most of us are now encountering ...Thanks in advance !
  13. Braid = smaller spinning reel spool size FC Line = larger spinning reel spool size
  14. I just saw where Lew's has introduced a larger spool series pro spinning reel with nice features for $99.00 ... Looks like it would be ideal for 6lb. to 12 lb. FC line applications . Has anyone seen or handled one yet ?
  15. The new Tatula T-Wing level wind system is the one feature(?) that I am still undecided over which is delaying my purchase. For Tatula owners , what are your thoughts & experiences to date of the Tatula T-Wing level wind system ?
  16. Just curious : Did TW ship your rod using a heavy duty cardboard tube - or just a rectangular box ?
  17. Rick Clunn has a similar model out for about $8.00 and Academy Sports has a similar model out for about $5.00 . Will the Academy Sports versison suspend or behave exactly like a 110 ? Perhaps not , but in a faster cadence jerk suitable for Spring conditions - you can do very well .
  18. Fav Seibert Jig colors ? ... ALL of them !! ...I'm now making a home made 48 color jig super umbrella rig which I plan to throw for bass on a salt water rod & reel set up using 100lb. braid !! ... Seriously , I know I need an intervention when it comes to Mike's awesome jig colors and I know the first step is to admit I have a problem - but I don't want to !! The next color jig I buy from Seibert's is going to be THE one I can't live without ... That is until the next color and then the next color and then ...
  19. Mono good for baits with treble hooks : Top water poppers , twitch baits , wake baits as well as sub surface baits such as jerk baits and crank baits . 8lb. for sub surface baits and 12lb. for surface baits (thicker diameter floats better) ...Works for me .
  20. From what I can find it appears the Gunfish is best if there is a breeze / ripple on the surface while the Sammy is perhaps better for calmer conditions . Perhaps on any given day the opposite is true - but at least a place to start ...
  21. While both above Lucky Craft baits are notoriously good - what condiions dictate which one you will choose to throw ?
  22. Between a Spook , Vixen , Sammy , KVD Sexy Dawg , etc. - what do you believe are the easiest to use walk-the-dog top water baits ?
  23. When is the best time of year to throw your bigger soft plastics such as 10.5" + 'Ol Monster worm , Rage Lobsters , Pit Boss 5" , etc. ?
  24. Best Value : Daiwa Tatula ; Lews a solid choice. About the time the Tatula came out Shimano's quality had definately slipped . A number of people now say Shimano had their "wake up call" after the competition brought their A game against Shimano - now word is the 2014 and 2015 Shimano offerings are a better built product .
