  1. flechero so you use the burl cork for the whole handle? do you have a picture of a finished rod or just the handle so i can see what that looks like? the pics of the burl on mudhole are kind of hard to really make out what they look like. and is there a significant difference in the look of burl and the rubberized cork. i really like the look of the rubberized end cap on a split grip handle, but if there wasn't much of a difference there would be no need to. thanks in advance jason
  2. thaks guys reelmech's steb-by-step was easy to follow and very helpful now i have a couple more questions. im looking at prices on components to see if this project will be in my budget. which guides, and reel seats are the best for the $$$??? and i was looking at mudhole and what si the difference in the cork grades? i know that the higher priced ones are better (or at least supposed to be) but what is the difference in say the SCR1 select and the SCR2 select? texture, durability?
  3. where can i find a basic overview of rod building. something w/ basic step by step procedures
  4. does anyone know where i could find some All Star blanks??
  5. im not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but i was looking for a inexpensive depth finder for my semi-v aluminum boat. it's just a small boat that we push around w/ a trolling motor. i was looking at one of the bottom line fishing buddies, so i wouldn't have to mount a transducer. what do you guys think of these? the lakes i will be fishing are going to be shallow watershed lakes, maybe 20' deep at the most. would one of these work for this? or would one of the more inexpensive humminbirds work better? im open to any suggestion
  6. hey justtrying, looking good. those split grip handels look sharp. i just have one question? how exactly are you doing them? just sanding them down?
  7. i want a 8+, but one in the 5-6# range is probably more realistic. my PB is just over 6, caught tons 5-5.5, but only one over 6. had a buddy lose one that looked to be 7+ last spring in my home lake, so hoping she is still in there
