  1. i thought kistler had a "no hassle limited lifetime warranty"????
  2. since i started fishing senkos (knockoffs) in the last year. i have found that i like fishing them on my spinning outfit. i use 8lb mono. and i find on long casts i miss alot of fish (due to line stretch and not getting a good hookset) so i was thinking of putting some say 20# braid on my 2500 sedona. do any of you guys use braid on spinning reels???
  3. stick w/ the front drag. they are smoother and more reliable
  4. i would stick w/ shimano reels in the 2000 or 2500 size. you can get a sedona for $50 or a sahara for $60.....both are fine reels. this leaves you more for your rod. which with finese tactics sensitivity is important. i can't really recommend a rod for finese fishing since i don't do it much.
  5. i agree with flechero. you spent all that $$$ on a light sensitive rod. put a reel on it that will keep it light. i love my 50 mg....but i would probably like it better if it were on a loomis
  6. i know that the kistler heliums and "upper" class stuff is good. but he was wondering about the graphite plus series. and all of these rods have limited lifetime warranties. has anyone ever had to deal with any of these comapanies' customer services??
  7. i'm not a froggin expert. but i would think a 7' MH or H / Fast action rod would work fine. and it would also double as a jig/worm rod.
  8. 6 lbs 6 oz. caught on a baby bass super spook jr.
  9. so now that the Techna is out....which rod in that price range is the best???
  10. that depends on which of those you do the most. a MH/fast will word fine for all but the crank. but if cranks aren't your "go to" technique and you just occasionally throw them it will be fine. i would say get a MH because i think it is more versatile especially if you throw jigs and soft plastics
  11. everywhere i have seen the techna AV they are $200+
  12. i think you have just been having bad luck. the people that i know that have citicas absolutely love them
  13. i've edited this to add the shimano crucial
  14. i throw terminators too
  15. nice fish man!!! congrats
  16. well i posted earlier.....but i didn't know this was going to be a contest....lol 1 Calcutta 200 1 Cardiff 100 1 Chronarch 50 MG 1 Curado 200 DHSV 1 Sedona 2500 1 Spirex 2000 i know it's not a list like SCbassin's but it's a start for a college kid... 8-)
  17. wow....what a purchase. i have a 50 mg and the high speed curado and love them both....you will be very happy with them
  18. we use road runners alot in ponds. and have caugth many bass over 2# and a few over 4#. i think they are a great lure for ponds and a good cold front lure in lakes
  19. a buddy of mine asked me for a rod reccomendation. he wants to spend in the $150 range. he is looking at a falcon cara, kistler graphite, or loomis gl2, or shimano crucial in a 7' heavy, fast. which would you guys reccomend?
  20. "selective harvest" is how we manage all of our small bodies of water around.....or at least me anyway. i have some friends that keep and eat 3 lbers regularly, and keep anything over that. it makes me so mad!!! i can't stand it. i grew up eating bass. we catch and eat a bunch of 10"-13" bass. but anything over 2# is thrown back into the water....unless they are gill hooked or somthing else that i think hurts it's chances of survival. people have to realize that if you want to catch 8-10#ers that taking out some of the fish will reduce competition for food which will in turn increase the size of the fish. and a 3-4#er is alot closer to 8# than a 1# and will get there faster
  21. i had a small scuff on my 50 mg last season and i used a silver paint pen to cover it. it worked, was pretty durable, and almost matched perfectly unless it was in just the "wrong" light
  22. i have read on tackletour and i believe on here that the zillion didn't throw lighter baits very well. is this true?
  23. i have been looking at a reel with a 7:1 ratio....mostly because i don't have one. i have always been a shimano guy. so of course the curado is being looked at. but when i held this reel it seemed pretty big. (i have fairly small hands). but when i held the revo (stx) it palmed very well. (i think using my 50 mg has spoiled me and gotten me used to smaller reels). they both felt smooth, the curado was probably a tad smoother, but it is always hard to tell w/ demo reels. there is no telling how many people have handled (and mishandled) these reels. do any of you have real life comparisons of these two or recomendations? thanks, jason
  24. i went to my local academy last night set on buying a new shimano symetre 2500. well they were out, so i started looking at other options and the stradic caught my eye. they both have 5 bearings, and the stradic is about $40 more. so here is my question, is the stradic that much better than the symetre, and if so how? thanks in advace jason
