I was out last week and did some smallie fishing that actually worked! Caught 8 on a trout lure, biggest being 3.5 lbs. The creek I was fishing was loaded!! My buddies caught a good amount also, can't wait to get back and hit em again!!

Thanks guys, I went out expecting dirty water and the water was stinking clear!!! Got a couple hits but I think they were just swatting at the bait. Didn't get any in the boat, but fun none-the-less!!

Thanks! I have a couple dark buzz baits and a popper or two. I also have a dark colored frog that I might try to throw at them. I was told that the smallies are suspended in about 4 ft. of water but haven't moved into the shallow water just yet. I'll give it a try and let you know how I make out. Do you think I should swim the jig or fish it slow off the bottom??

I'm new to small mouth bass fishing and I'm planning on getting on the water here soon. My problem is my only day off that I can get out is suppose to be a day after rain/front comes through. I've been told the smallies are really hitting hard on this body of water, small river/large creek. With the water temps being around 50 some degrees what do you think is the best baits to use. Thanks guys, and no I don't have tubes, am I still going to catch fish??

I started fishing lipless cranks here recently and I was having the same problems. Like the others said in the forum. Hook sets are free, so....SET THE HOOK. I do anytime my bait feels like it is running different, or I "hit" stumps, logs, weeds, etc.... you get the point I'm sure. Good luck and tight lines.

Thanks guys, it's been too long since I've been away from "home". This forum is the only one that has really helped me figure out the fish. I'm still shooting for the big one and I've got some good places to try this year. CAN'T WAIT till the weather breaks and I can start fishing again!! Just to fill you in I got out of the Academy, had a baby...well my wife did, I just watched.....and I've been working like a mad man. My cousin and I are like Bo and Luke Duke....always getting in trouble, pulling pranks, etc. Example....A.J. says "hey look at the snake", Me "where?" Right in front of you A**hole!!! "OH SH**, what the heck....(as the snake tries to attack me). Then I tirp over a rock trying to get the heck out of dodge. Snake laughs and swims away. Next time out I throw a fake snake at A.J. and he falls in with his brand new chest waders on.....ruins his wallet and money, plus his smokes. I'm just that good! ;D

LBH-being new this is the first I heard about this. I really hope that they actually consider this challenge. What a good cause man!! If you need any help setting up a CAST program in the south central PA area let me know. I'll do what I can. BM7- The funny thing about the whole incident was that I was doing 80, saw the cop and tried to slow down. Just didn't get slowed down in time. The guy in front of me was clocked at 92.....OUCH!!! I don't know what he got out of the deal but he never even hit the brake pedal. Two birds with one stone I guess. The officer had a good day! ;D :'( Live and learn. If the warden didn't take your friends stuff then he probably won't lose it, unless he fails to pay the fine on time. Then that is a whole other story.

Here's my take.....Derrikp said that he never fished legally....so therefore he WAS fishing illegally. If he was fishing "private" ponds and did not need a license...then he should have said that he never "needed" to purchase a license. So by him not wording the question correctly he let us assume that he was doing it illegally and also put us under the assumption that he "knew" that what he was doing was wrong. Hence the responses. IF Derrikp did mean that he never "needed" to purchase a license, then I can see your point MF. Is the law the same in TX as it is in FL? Whatever the case may be....get the license and save yourself some trouble....just my 2 cents. Is the lake behind his house public or private....he never said?

DNR testing and water quality board!?!? Hmmmmmmm that one I will have to look into! Doing good for all mankind....thats a tuff job. Boy the wife will be proud! The wife knows not to call when I am fishing....wouldn't want to drop my cell phone in the water now would I?? (Note to self....never leave cell phone with hookers....) ;D

Rolo-you, my friend, are the EXCEPTION!!!! Your like that guy all the others are envious of. My wife thinks that hunting/fishing are "mean" to the animals....but I still get permission to go....a lot. I'm begining to think that my wife doesn't like me :-[ HAHAHA J/K Rule #3 (since there are two rule twos) Forgiveness is often easier to obtain the permission!!!! ;D

Well all I have to say is that they do take your DL for a first offense...at least here in PA. I was doing 77 in a 65...lost my DL for 15 days!!! First offense....never had an accident.....no speeding....NOTHING on my driving record. I broke the law, so I paid the fine (over $100) and lost my DL, thats what I get. Do you think I speed now? HECK NO! So taking your gear I think is acceptable. I don't think your friend will lose his stuff if he hasn't already, and the judge can have your gear returned to you after your hearing. It all depends on the judge and your ATTITUDE!!!

When you get all stoked to fish with your relatives and the wife says we are going to see your niece.....not go fishing. Then she says "What's more important....your niece or FISHING" in that sarcastic tone of voice. And you think to yourself....what a stupid question.....has she seen that pond by Matts house? GUILTY!! ;D

I just heard an add that JC Penny's has skirts on sale. Maybe you can stop there before you go out fishing. Tell him he has to wear the skirt until he's "man" enough to take the hooks out. ;D Boy I'm gald I don't fish your buddy. He'd be swimming, not fishing if he went with me!!! HAHAHA

If your fishing in the moring, try to throw some top water stuff. Nothing else will get someone "hooked" like seeing a bass hit a top water! Also I would try to throw some spinners. That way he will stay active. If those aren't working....I don't know what to tell you. But that is what I would start him out on.
