Shallow Water Ponds In Fall
I really haven't fished swim baits a lot yet at all. Topwater and pig and jig have been my main tools and haven't had a hit on topwater since the end of August. I'm in Boston and the water temps are low 50's here right now.

Shallow Water Ponds In Fall
So come cold weather and water I've learned that after coming into shallow waters to feed for the winter the bass then go back out to their winter holes where they hold up. Mainly in deeper waters. My question is what happens when the ponds your fishing don't have deeper waters? What happens when 90% of the pond is only 3-5 ft? Do you continue to pond banks and shorelines? If so are there certain areas on the banks that are better than others? Or do you look for the small percentage of the pond that's slightly deeper?

Rod Confusion Help!
Just yesterday I ordered a Dobyns 704C. Well talkin with them on the phone they told me that the action in their rods is very flexible. Right now I fish an stx on a veritas MH MFtip but the rod is extremely stiff and feels like a heavy extra fast tip. I bought this rod as my main rod cause I pig and jig most. I was gonna buy the Dobyns In a M fast tip but I want my dobyns to be my main rod so I ended up with a MH fast and decided to replace the veritas with something with more flex but I'm worried I'm gonna get my Dobyns and it be to flexible for jigging. I guess my point is I'd like to know how you feel about the action in the dobyns rods. Idk how many you own or what flex you have but in your opinion do you think a fast tip is to flexible for throwing 3/8oz-3/4oz jigs into moderate to light heavy cover?Basically my veritas is perfect for this but like I said earlier, I'd like my dobyns to be the main rod for this. Btw, the veritas is 6'6" and I ordered the dobyns in 7' which I'd also prefer for jigging. I bought the veritas thinking it was gonna be the most expensive rod I bought, boy was I wrong but now I'm completely confused, especially never fishing a dobyns. Can I get some opinions on what I should do? I'm on my way to Bass Pro now!

2Nd Bait Casting Rod
Is 8lb flouro enough on the spinning reel? I feel like all the videos in watching and articles I'm reading say to go at least 10-12

2Nd Bait Casting Rod
Hey guys Boston Mahhky here. Need a little advice on what I should purchase for my 2nd bait casting rod. I jig and pig mostly and love fishing all sorts of cover so I bought a revo baitcaster and sit it on a veritas 6'6" MH fast action tip with Suffix 832 advanced braid and I really like it. I have another spinning feel I take out with me that's 6' M with 14lb flouro but that's beside the point. I basically want some advice as to what I should buy for a second bait casting rod. I wanna start buying a number of rod/reels for specific techniques but I don't need one for each. So what would the next move be. I guess I basically want the best rod to crank/jerk and dropshot/Carolina if that's a possibility. GO RED SOX!

Yamamoto Hard Baits
I've used the smaller version of the spook, The Tate pencil, and I had a lot of success with it in the summer months. I went and bought the bigger version and had barely any luck with it. This week I bought the med 4-6ft crankbait but have yet to use it. I've been trying to increase my crankbaits and jerkbaits in sizes and brands. In one of genes jerkbait videos he stresses to buy different brands and don't just stick with a single brand cause they each have their own personalities and strengths. I've gone with strike king and rapalla so far and I'd like some feedback on the yamamotos before I spend 8.99 for one

Bass Acting Weird
I've had the same problem. This is my first season fishing at all. I started in July on my buddy's pelican. He handed me a 6ft spinning rod and a popper and I caught one fish after the other. I then switched to a spook jr and continued catching fish until about late August when it seemed like one day someone hit the off switch and the bass just stopped. I've read and read and read about seasonal patterns and the moon and gravity and temperatures and I've gained a ton of knowledge in a small amount of time which I don't mind because I'm OBSESSED with fishing now but In the end I decided all I could do was learn new techniques. I've picked up the pig and jig and can't put it down and I'm slowly teaching myself how to drop shot, Carolina rig, and crankbaits thanks to Gene Jensens videos and bassresource.com. My PB was 5lb 8oz just last week and came on the jig and the same day I caught my 2nd PB (4lb14oz). So until I did my research I was puzzled as to what was going on. In the end the bass do what the bass have always done. It sucked not catching as many fish but the ones I have caught have me more satisfaction than the 10-15 a day I was catching in the summer and This is what seperates the men from the boys in fishing, I feel. If your still setting your alarm for 430am and pushing off at 5 when it's still dark and 35 degrees even though there's a good chance you might not catch a fish, then you know you found something you love to do. If this change presents itself as a challenge to you and not something that discourages you from going out EVERYDAY then not only have you found something you love to do, you found something your supposed to be doing. I've learned that the bass aren't acting weird, their challenging you to become a better fisherman
