  1. I was told I should buy a cranking battery with at least 1000 cranking amps
  2. I think that's what I'm gonna do
  3. Yea that's what I've been reading too but he said that it's been completely fine. I was wondering if anyone else ever heard of it
  4. Ya they are. That's not what I'm saying. In saying that there's a deep cycle battery being used for starting the boat
  5. Hey guys. I just bought an 08 nitro z7 and it has 3 deep cycles in it. 2 for trolling and one for starting and other applications. My concern is whether I should replace the starting battery with a cranking battery. I talked to the previous owner numerous times and he's assured me that he's never had an issue with starting the boat up at all. I am ok keeping this battery in or should I replace it? This is my first year starting tournaments so I'd like to be issue free. Thanks
  6. Congratulations buddy! I'm in the same boat lol. I bought an 08 nitro z7 in December and I feel the same way! I live in Boston and bought it in December so it's just been sittin inside the carport ever since. I'm trying to get any little thing done I can to it. It's wrapped but I put a zippered door in to get in and out. Unfortunately it's the middle of February and we still got at least a month of waiting. I'm gonna cut the wrap off mid march. I got a few things I wanna do to be ready for April. Well, congratulations, I know how excited you are. Hope you enjoy it!
  7. I think it just comes down to what feels more comfortable to you that's all. I bought a dx704c from dobyns and when I got it I was amazed. It's the lightest, most sensitive rod I've fished with. I paired it with a revo mgx and it feels like your holding air. I'm amazed at how light it is. So the dicks near my house got the st. Croix Legend Tournaments in and I had to have one. I bought it, took it home and was really disappointed. After comparing the two rods I couldn't believe how heavy and unbalanced the LT was compared to the DX. I was extremely let down because I loved the rod. However, my plan for the LT was to use it as a flippin/pitchin stick and there was no way I wouldn't feel the affects of the weight after an hours worth of flippin', maybe less. I tried justifying it any way that I could because I was excited about the LT but for $270 I just couldn't keep it. I went back, returned it, and came home and called Miranda at Dobyns to put an order in for a Champion rod. If I never picked up a Dobyns then I would've thought that LT was the best rod on the market. I know the St. Croix's are built to be a very strong and reliable rod. I don't doubt or question that for a single second. I guess it's just my preference and I don't know what it is exactly about St. Croix rods not feeling right to me but I know I've tried to make them work. This is my 3rd one that I've purchased and brought back. I know it's def A LOT heavier than the DX and I know they're not balanced nearly as well. I'm sure there's an explainable reason for it seeing as how St. Croix has all those new features incorporated into the construction of the rod. I know this was a long explanation but I hope you got my main point of it and that was to BUY WHAT FEELS RIGHT TO YOU cause sometimes just paying $300 for a rod doesn't mean it's gonna come with the features you want. I just want to say that in no way was this meant to downgrade St. Croix in any way whatsoever. I think St. Croix is one of the best companies on the market and their products are some of the best out there, if not the best.
  8. Glenn May has a video on BR showing a solution to this. It was a big issue with me too. So, run to a target and buy some of that non slip material people layer their kitchen drawers with and cut it to size to fit the top inside portion of the Plano box. Then get some spray adhesive and glue the pad inside. When closed, the pad forms to the tops of the dividers and doesn't allow anything to fall over In to other compartments making a mess and puts enough pressure on them so nothing slides under the dividers. Make sure you take your tackle out first before you spray the adhesive. If you don't and some and you happen to get some overspray where the dividers and tackle are it'll form a white type of powdery substance that gets all over everything and is a pain in the bass to get it all off.
  9. Nooo he said there were already threads on the subject I asked about so I quoted what he said and asked him to help me out with where theyvwere
  10. Help me out.....where are they?
  11. Help me out.....where are they?
  12. How do you feel about the zillion then
  13. Chronarc 200e7 or Ci4?? Opinions please! I own all revo's from the S to the mgX but I'm thinking about a Ci4. What do you think??
  14. 2008 Nitro Z7 150hp 2stroke Merc Humminbird 597ci combo at bow Humminbird 898ci hd combo with side imaging and down imaging at console
  15. I bought a revo stx at 7.1:1 for my flippin reel and put it on a 7'6" MH veritas and I spooled it with 50lb power pro braid. I got two questions. 1) should I go with 65lb braid instead? 2) Does anyone have any suggestions for other flippin rods in the $100-$200 range? I'm not comfortable with anything larger than 7'8" in length
  16. I understand they are both better for different things but I'm already buying rods and reels for different techniques. I'm not gonna go buy two flippin sticks and two reels so I can spool one with braid and one with flouro unless/until I start fishing serious money tourneys. So wouldn't the idea of spooling braid and using a flouro leader when needed solve the issue? I know it may not have the sensitivity of all flouro but like I said, my main point in why'd I'd use flouro at all would be because of the invisibility factor. A flouro leader when needed would solve that issue
  17. That sounds good. I lean towards braid. It's what I've been using. I think the only reason I would flouro sounds debatable to me is because it's less visible so I'm gonna spool braid and use a flouro leader when need be. Thanks guys.
  18. Hey guys. Just bought a flippin set up and was wondering what others thought about they type of line I should be using. Should I use braid or flouro? Give me your thoughts
  19. Actually the dual systems are for a more controlled cast and to allow you to dial in more detailed. They say that the centrifugal brakes are for controlling the first half of the cast when the spool is going fastest and the magnetic brakes control the last half, or the descent of the cast. So I guess if you wanna get real specific then you can. As far as how I use it, I explained to you and it seems fairly similiar to the way you use your reel.
  20. Hey guys. I'm looking to join a bass club in Mass. I live in the Boston area and I'm willing to drive up to 1/2 hr to 1 hr for meetings if I have to. Is there anyone out there that can help or needs a member in their club? I'm purchasing a boat this week but I'll join as a boater or non boater if I have to and I'll be extremely dedicated. Thank you very much.
  21. Thank you very much for offering gentleman. However, I decided against this boat due to its location and wanting something a little bigger. Thank you giys
  22. To be completely honest, I've never used my reel with the centrifugal brakes completely off. Whatever I've needed to adjust has been enough with the magnetic brakes that I haven't had to touch the centrifugal. I guess if I wanted to make further casts or wasn't happy with the distance I was getting then I would turn them off but just haven't had to. I also agree with you when you said your so used to it and baitcasting in general that you don't see the point in two. I guess I'm so used to where it's at that I've never had to adjust it
  23. I'm definitely going to. A lot of boats I looked at have them. The boat I'm looking at is being sent to Charleston Marine Friday for a pre-purchase inspection. If everything works out then I'm flying there and driving it back in a week or ao
  24. No hydraulic jack plate, no. Any reason you ask?
  25. I found a 2008 nitro z7 with a 150hp Merc 2-stroke in West Virginia. It's got a 24v 70lb motor guide, a humminbird 898 at the console, the stock finder in dash, and a lowrance 95x on the bow. It's always been maintained and kept inside a heated garage and it's in real nice shape. It's going tomorrow for a pre-purchase inspection. If everything is ok I'm gonna go get it this week.
