  1. I fish with Curado I's and I like the reels for a lot of reasons, but is it just me (go easy here!) or does adjusting the Infinity Cast Control dial not make much difference in casting? Great concept, but I'm not sure that it's that effective.
  2. Nice going! What time of day and about what water temp and depth?
  3. Fished Grove this morning tossing a white chatterbait for about and hour and a half. Didn't get any fish to take interest, but did get to watch the guy geese chase the girl geese all over the pond. Spring is here!
  4. I own the Avid MH/F and M/F casting rods, both 7 ft. First of all, you're looking at two great rods -- light, well balanced and excellent build quality! I use my MH/F for jigs, worms, topwaters, and even frogs. The very versatile M/F gets about everything else -- light jigs and worms, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, square bills, and jerkbaits. You won't go "wrong" with either choice, but by your description of techniques I'd suggest the M/F, as I think that it's the most versatile of the two choices.
  5. Now I can assure you first-hand that GP holds some very nice - but alo very fickle - bass!
  6. Nice catch! You have me beat at Daycare. I'm skunked there most of the time and thought it was pretty barren -- at least until your post!
  7. About as strange as FedEx's contract to fly USPS mail.
  8. Nice fish Basstracker! Road Warrior might know her by name.
  9. Where is Appling Lake located?
  10. What's your "affordable" price range?
  11. You can't go wrong with 12# clear. A great all-around baitcasting line.
  12. Double Uni (my preference) or Alberto each work well.
  13. I have two of these reels. I like them a lot, but I do think the SVS infinity brakes suffer from marketing hype. A good design in theory, but I don't find much (if any) difference in casting with different adjustments. On a pickier note, I wish the spool tension knob had a clicker adjustment like many other reels at a similiar price point.
  14. My Dad taught me a modified clinch knot years ago, which is just a standard clinch but with a half-hitch tied in the tag end and snugged up against the wraps (insurance to prevent the tag from slipping through). That version is virtually fail proof, but I don't trust a standard clinch without the added half hitch or, better yet, with the tag run back through to make an improved clinch knot.

I just started fishing chatterbaits this Fall. I'm throwing a 3/8 oz ZMan Original (sharpening the hook) on a medium/fast Avid. A ton of fun to fish with different retrieves and trailers, and it seems to me more versatile than a spinnerbait.
  16. There weren't many behind the counter, but he said they were loaded up in the stockroom in all the ratios.
  17. A trusted salesman at my local BPS (Memphis) today told me they had stocked several hundred PQs for the sale.
  18. If not, just order one from the store. They will still honor the trade-in discount.
  19. I think you made a good choice. I've thrown square bills on the Premier MHM and it handled great.
  20. So nobody liked the one with the Doritos guy on the airplane??
  21. You might want to also consider a St Croix Avid AVC70MHF. Around $190 retail but discounted soon at the BPS Spring sale.
  22. Hence my question. Thank you and all for your responses!
  23. That makes sense -- thank you.
