That didn't take long. I am not trying to be a smart ass, as you say. Just sayin. Touchy, touchy.

I know that this will tick off some fishermen out there, BUT my Wal Mart 39 dollar combo catches as many bass as your 300 dollar set up. Just sayin.

What Is The One Thing You Absolutely Hate About Fishing?
I think the absolute worst IS the idiot in the fancy 200 HP ski boat that thinks that the spot you are fishing on is his personal ski area. I have had them come within 50 feet of my boat and then have the balls to wave, like he's my friend or something. IDIOT he is

Where's Your Old Lady???
My wife also goes with me quite often. She uses what she calls the " NO TECHNIQUE, TECHNIQUE". She cast's a worm or craw and then just plays at it. She twitches it once in a while and often doesn't know she has a fish on until I tell her. What is somewhat frustrating though is that, sometimes she out fishes me. It's all good though. She has fun and we have a great day together.

Newbie Fisherman Needs Advice..
Wow, Ft Yargo. Great spot. I fished it a lot when I was living in Lawrenceville. Best bass there was 5 lb. Work the heck out of those lay downs. We also used spinner baits in and around those lay downs. Plastic worms as well. You might try Lake Lanier. Very deep clear water but the bass can be had the mostly on back bays and lake points. Tight lines. Jman

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
OK, y'all are making me crazy. I have been out for two days throwing everything at them and only had one hit. crank baits, spinner baits, worms, swimming baits, senko's, all kinds of modified baits to increase flash and entice reaction bites but nothing. My river has gone on vacation. Bass are not on the bed here yet in my river. Going to Tarpon lake tomorrow to see what's up there.

Lou, don't know about the titanium ones but I have had several of my wire ones break over the years due to fish bending them up and making adjustments to straighten them back. The wire only takes so many bends.

It can happen to all of them Lou. They only take so many bends and each time they get bent, the metal weakens. Not the product generally but the use.

Hard To Get Bites Lately Any Help?
99, a lot of it has to do with the ever changing weather. For a long time I didn't get any myself but now the bite is coming back. where are you fishing over there? I'm in NPR, FL.

3 has got it. The lake Underhill runs under the 408. Lots of bass in there. We caught dozens on the airport side but the really big ones came from the south side near the grass shore and there is a deep hole just off shore where I got the 5 lb. bass. Lots of fish there.

Would that pond be lake Underhill. It's full of bass. Fished it often when I lived in Orlando. My biggest there was 5 lb.

Great job Lou. I was going to the lake today but the wind kept me off so I'll go fish the river in back of my house where I got the 6-1/2 lb. the other day. Tight lines, Jman

With a 3' leader I can easily cut 4-5 times when using a Palomar knot. but because I generally only use it on my worm rod, I don't cut that often. I usually tie on a #3 o r4 EWG hook and use it for all different plastics. On my hard bait rod I don't use it, as I am looking for the reaction strike and the bass don't have time to think about whether they are going to hit it or not.

Here's a tip. I generally use a 2-3' leader with flouro and a knot that pretty much guaranteed not to pull out if it's tied right. the knot can be cut flush with the line and you can still cut and re-tie several times at the hook. Plus, the knot is so compact, it will cast through the eyes with no problem.

MCS, true that you need to impart less action with the braid as there is no stretch. AND I use about 15# fluorocarbon to lessen the chance of break offs. If you notice, the pros some times talk about lite lines in clear water as the fish can see mono. BUT the fluorocarbon is pretty much invisible under water. Let me know what you think when you decide to give it a try.

Good deal 1987, go get em. They're hitting pretty well in central Florida right now.

One thing I forgot D. I proved to myself that the bass can see the braid and that will put them off.... ie. I was fishing with my wife one time on an under water island and I intentionally set her up with hook attached to braid while I was using a fluorocarbon leader. I was pulling in bass after bass and she was getting nothing. I then took her line and attached a fluorocarbon leader and she started catching the same as I was. Nuff said. I always use a fluorocarbon leader. I see that some folks in here do not use them but I proved to myself at leas,t that bass can tell when you have braid attached to the hook and it definitely puts them off.

D, you will find out that braid will work much better on the casting reel than mono. I use power pro 30# on mine and it cast's great.

Right MCS. I fished yesterday with my co angler (wife) and we got 7, biggest was 6-1/2 lb. and the rest were good size. Most all came on watermelon worms. The big one caught on a watermelon rage recon worm. I do see that they don't hold up too well though. That 6lb. totally tore it up. Kind of soft plastic. I prefer the yamamoto 5" watermelon W/ red/black fleck. Going again tomorrow to Tarpon lake to see how the spawn is going. I'm getting some hits on a silver jerk bait as well. Tight lines. Jman
