  1. Downright depressing...that is all. I have no other hobbies...this is all I have. 10 day forecast for my area (Sanford, ME) calls for snow Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with the high for the week being 43.
  2. I don't need complete ice out, I only need a soft ice and I will take care of the ice out part, just like I did in early January. I have an aluminum bass boat with a 150HP engine that I will use to make ice disappear.
  3. Thank you. I appreciate that. I am scared to hell, I am really addicted to fishing and I know that it will change, but I hope I can get out enough to keep me sane when the time comes.
  4. I got plenty of water to fish via canoe, fishing season starts for me when the boat is out.
  5. It's Maine's version of the Delaware River...I don't mind it because I feel like everybody is gonna struggle and I have a shot, but it's tough for sure.
  6. No trail? Why not? Im gonna start fishing the trail, but might not end up being able to finish due to my wife be pregnant with twins, due in August. We will see.
  7. 2lbs and half of a limit will definitely get you some cash on that lake. Arrowhead will be different for sure. If we ice out soon, it could be a slugfest. If the ice lasts another 3 weeks, it will turn into a tough bite.
  8. I don't think anyone will be, but if it happens, then yes I am fishing it.
  9. If thats all it is, I will be happy. Last year I think that I was out the first week of April on Mousam, much earlier than that on Sebago.
  10. Sebago is always the first to have open water. The big bay didn't freeze over until February so it won't take too long to ice out.
  11. Im hoping with this weeks weather, maybe Sebago will open up a bit near the pressure ridge on the big bay. If so, could be fishing by first weekend of April. Wont be the ideal location, but will be better than staying home and wishing i was fishing.
  12. That model St Croix is the dedicated Drop Shot model, so it will work just fine. It's all in the eye of the beholder anyhow. I drop shot 95% of the time and ive owned and used the Mojo rod and it was fine. I bought a $35 Daiwa Laguna rod that is so comfortable and the right action that I end up using that a lot of the time. I have also owned in the past 1 G Loomis DS rod and I didn't care for it at all, sold it on Ebay.
  13. Vertically when im trying to fish slow, horizontally when I am trying to mimic baitfish, or when the water temps warm up.
  14. As far as feeding the bait Monkey, I do it almost on a daily basis, sometimes twice in one day as I work at Cabelas and frequently purchase from TW. I get fair discounts on everything from work so I am consistently bring home a few items after each shift. As soon as a new item hits the shelf I always buy 2. It definitely helps, but cant be my only solution.
  15. I wonder what a comparable feeling would be to the one I start to feel in early March late February. It gets a lot worse when i see a snow storm in the forecast for the weekend. Just another blanket for the ice to hide under. I can only describe it as claustrophobic, like I need to get out of my skin if I don't get to fish soon. I also have been researching what types of saws the dive teams use when they practice rescues through the ice, im thinking if I can find a friend to drive my boat, ill lean over the side and start cutting the pond open. Nothing I do this time of year makes me happy, because I am constantly wishing I was fishing.
  16. Matching outfits is so 2012...we're beyond that, just looking for bass fishing related baby clothes. Thanks guys!
  17. Thank you all! I appreciate the help and kind words.
  18. Sorry in advance, not sure where to put this topic. I just found out that my wife is pregnant with twins. Please spare me the "sell your boat", "say goodbye to fishing" routine because I will certainly fish less, but I certainly won't not fish. This is why they made babysitters and responsible dogs to give you a break from parenting to do the things you want to do. So my question is-- does anyone else out there have twins, or even a single baby that they purchased fishing outfits for at some point. Im not looking to buy them off of people, I just want to know where people have been buying outfits for babies that are fishing related. Thanks in advance for your input!
  19. I get claustrophobic just thinking about how much time is left until I can get in the boat, it hurts.6 weeks is a long ways away, and that seems like the early shot at some fishing.
  20. I already own a bunch, but out of curiosity I checked TW and some other similar sites and they are sold out. I know thats an obvious discovery, but still cracks me up every year people don't have confidence in what they are throwing themselves on their home lakes.
  21. Casey Ashley rigs them on a under-spin that his dad made for him. If I recall, he caught a couple fish in a tournament this past weekend.
  22. Don't even get me started on Thompson Lake. Its hands down one of my favorite lakes to fish, and I think it's largely overlooked due to its less than average largemouth population. It sets up well for me because I am a deep fisherman and the water is deep and clear. If my schedule is open during that time I could definitely take you out and put you on fish for sure. I've fished several tournaments on Thompson and had 0 largemouth weighed in. I have caught them there before, but its a smallmouth lake for sure. Mainebass nailed the month of May. Pre-spawn to spawn period is crazy out there, gets tougher from then on, but if you have good electronics and dont mind fishing 30ft of water, you'll do just fine.
  23. Both fish in my avi came off of the 3" stick-o drop shotted. I also dip my sticks in a clear JJ's Magic.
  24. Light action is fine. I would go the braid w/ a leader route. Braid will compensate for the lack of power in the rod to a certain extent.
  25. Thanks for the info KD...I might opt to go with a really cheap one to start, incase I dont like it. Im throwing KVD cranking classics right now. They are plenty powerful, but when I throw big swimbaits, I wanna spool it up with heavier line and the spool isnt big enough on those reels.
