  1. They have also done a bassmaster classic sale in the past in March. It was never very big, more of a clearance type deal where they discounted a bunch of specific baits, rather than a site wide discount. The tax stimulus sale is the big one though, but it is in April.
  2. Texas rig and Carolina rig which are "rigging methods" are acceptable, but dropshot isn't acceptable because it's a "rigging method?" Apparently I have no idea how to use this forum.
  3. Im only speaking for myself here, but if I locate brush piles in 15+ft of water, i can hover over the top of it using my electronics, drop down to the area above the tree and work the drop shot. More often than not, the fish come out of the tree to hit the bait.
  4. Blade choice is just as important as the color choice imo. After ice out, up until the spawn, I throw double colorado blades on my spinnerbaits. From that point forward, its willow leaf blades, or a combination of willow leafs and other blades. Colors are the same as other bait choices, natural colors in clear water, bright colors in stained water.
  5. Im offended that nobody has mentioned the drop shot. 98% of my tournament winnings last season came from the drop shot in 25-50ft of water.
  6. Strike King Red Eye Shad. Close the thread. End of topic. Don't need other answers.
  7. I doubt this also, but if you do a search on "speed shad" in this forum, there is a user who says "Anyone with a little knowledge of Bass Pro knows that their speed shad is made by Keitech." Ive sent private messages to the user to ask where they got their info from, but no response. Im assuming people "think" Keitech makes them because they look like swing impacts, but I have no proof either way.
  8. Oh believe you me. I had a sandwich bag full of those before they were even available in retail stores, they are dynamite. I got them from a friend of Steve's. I am just looking to settle a disagreement with a friend of mine.
  9. I have seen a few instances where people have said that Keitech makes the speed shad for Bass Pro Shops. Im just wondering where people are getting that information from? I have googled it and can't find any results. Can anyone back up the statement with proof from a website? Thanks for the help. Im not really looking for a response like "I work at Bass Pro and that's what they told us" The only reason why im not interested in that as an answer is because I work at Cabelas and I am told all sorts of things about products by management that arent true.
  10. Depends on the lake in Maine. Small bodies of water that have grass I will throw a Strike King 1.5 shallow and a double colorado spinnerbait. The deeper clearer lakes I will throw a jerkbait, a drop shot, and a jig. I am about a week away from being able to launch a small boat to fish. CANT WAIT
  11. I always downsize baits first off as some others have mentioned. Without knowing how big of a river we are talking about, its tough to give great advice. Does the river have bridges that are fishable? Where did you catch them when it wasnt cold, and what were you using?
  12. Dan, you can PM me anytime you would like in regards to fishing onshore near the Biddeford area. I live in Sanford which is about 15-20 minutes west of Biddeford. Sanford/Alfred area is loaded with great shore fishing opportunities for young and old anglers alike. Estes Lake is the first one that comes to mind. Look at it on a map and find the 2 bridges on the lake. Lots of room to fish from the bridges. Lots of safe areas for children to fish also. You dont "have" to stand on the bridges to fish. I am a teacher and I take a group of school kids fishing 3 or 4 times a week in these locations. As far as the fishing there goes, its chock full of bass, perch, and crappie. Both smallmouth and largemouth bass. If that is too far of a ride for you let me know and we can go over some other areas, but I have friends who travel from Windham down to Estes to fish off the bridge because the fishing is that good there. Let me know and welcome to the forum!
  13. Im not sure this could look any more like the original S-Waver. Has anyone tried them yet?
  14. Nobody can separate me from my Top Shelf Custom swimbaits. They have some line thru models that are just flat out fish destroyers.
  15. Have our club championship tournament this weekend and I blew a tire this morning on the way home from the lake. I need 2 new tires for my trailer and I can not get the same tires that are on the trailer now anywhere. I can save a little money if I order them online, but the shipping cost will even out what I would save, plus to have them on time, I would have to expedite shipping. I was told by 2 different tire stores that dont have my tire in stock that I could put on 205's instead of my 215's and it would be just fine. My boat only weighs maybe 2,000lbs with the engine, its a Tracker Avalanche. I wanted to get you guys opinion on this as I have more faith in my friends here, than a stranger at a tire store.
  16. Does anyone have any tools or tricks that they use to clean the weeds out from the joint of the bait where it spins? Personally I blow very hard on the area and it gets the grass to expose from the joint and then I can pull it out by hand, but I can never quite get it all the way clean. I am not fishing the bait in weedy areas at all, its just that windy days like today stir up the water and little tiny blades of grass get sucked up so easily with the bait. Its very frustrating to fish with when every other cast you have to operate on the bait to get it to work again, but boy is it worth it. Definitely a big fish bait in the 130 and 190 size.
  17. Maybe throwing it on too fast of a reel? If you are burning it with a 7+ ratio reel along with braid, it might just be too powerful of a combo. The other solution would be to use pliers and bend the line tie, not the split ring, in the opposite direction that its side rolls on. If i had to guess, its one of those two, or both.
  18. whatever you do, do not google roman made mother.
  19. No need to. You guys are right. Fluoro has more stretch than mono.
  20. Ok no biggy. I was just responding to your notion that I google "fluorocarbon being more stretchy than mono" When I did that, I found videos and blogs from those guys talking about how fluorocarbon has a lot less stretch than mono. I'm sure if I dug deeper I would have found something that said the opposite, but I will go by the words of KVD and other pros. I don't need to try and disprove the theory.
  21. So you're saying that Aaron Martens, Kevin Vandam and Jason Christie are wrong?
  22. The color is meant for the fishermen, not the fish. Go for it as long as you are using a leader.
  23. Wally World sells my favorite fluorocarbon for $10 a spool. Red Label by Seaguar is on 15 out of my 20 setups, the other 5 have braid (dropshot, flipping, topwaters all get brid). I choose fluoro because of the minimal stretch and the transparency of the line in the water, also the fact that it sinks makes it a must for me with crankbaits.
  24. Since when did Strike King go to a Trokar hook on their swim jig?
