  1. st croix triumph, these specs: TRS70MLF 7' ML Fast 1 4 - 10 1/8 - 1/2 4.2 4 $ 90 you dont need MH that will be stiff, lack of action in rod. ML is fine in florida, thats what i fish in florida and i have been in some heavy muck, its perfectly fine. Once pulled a bass stuck around a solid pipe out, no problems http://www.stcroixrods.com/products/freshwater/triumph/
  2. Everytime i go there I get nothing.. probably because i fish from shore at the boat launch and the dock...
  3. I'm going trout fishing as soon as I can. I haven't had something on my line for weeks!!!
  4. Hickory shad or Golden shiner?? Or what...?
  5. Hey all, I am searching all over the web for a list, or documentation, of species present in this stream that I fish. I know there are brown, brook, rainbow trout and perch. I have seen this fish on lists on the DEC website. However, I have caught golden shiners and other panfish, and they are not listed. Im trying to find a list of all fish species present... Where should I look?
  6. Hey all, Made one final hoorah at my favorite pond today, water temp was 50 F. Sunny and the air temp was 63 F, last warm day of the season. It was perfect that today was veteran's day- no school, last day of warm weather=last attempt at bass fishing for the season. Started off throwing jigs, then tried dropshot, and then to soft plastics. As a final resort I tied on a spinnerbait. Then I basically went through the rest of my tackle box trying just for a single bite. Nothing. Not a fish in sight. Tried for some panfish and small bass which I usually always manage to get even if the larger bass aren't biting... Skunked. Not a single fish caught or seen. Sad way to end the season.. I couldn't even manage a bass in November.. Its a hard feat here in November. We never really had a fall bite, I mean, when do we actually ever have one here? After summer ends, the fish just slowly slump into winter, with a few bites in between. Last bass I caught was on October 26th, on a hollow body frog: Time to go trout fishing!!!! And bird watching And buying new lures And watching endless bass videos And looking at photos of past catches And buying more lures And watching more fishing videos And getting some extra lures for the spring And... Going bass fishing in Florida in late December
  7. braid for everything, use a leader if you feel necessary or if you have toothy critters, but in florida I always use straight up 20 lb braid
  8. I've switched to that rod when i saw it yesterday. Fits my purposes better
  9. You need Suffix 832 advanced, best braid out there
  10. Thanks for the input! Glad i found someone who used the exact setup! Great!!
  11. Hey all, Im looking to get the St croix premier spinning rod with ultra light power for trout fishing in streams and creeks. Anybody have any experience with this rod? http://www.basspro.com/St-Croix-Premier-Series-Spinning-Rod-6-UL-1-Piece/product/74392/ Also i am looking into pairing this rod with the Shimano Sedona FD, http://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Sedona-FD-Spinning-Reel-SE1000FD/product/10203500/ I was thinking the SE1000FD model would fit nicely. Looking for opinons/experience with this reel Thanks Welds
  12. The line they may care about if its a t rig, crankbait, or swimbait etc.
  13. Lol yea i do. Ive gotten some 5lbers out of terrible muck, 20 lb braid is enough though, 40-50 is overkill
  14. When talking about how braids visibility affects the bite, i am refering to baits other than frogs, i.e. t rigs, swimbaits, cranks, etc.
  15. Ok, the only allure for me to fluorocarbon is how it is clear... I hate how my braid is visible to the fish, i feel like it can in some cases prevent a bite.. also, i use spinning gear so i can go low on # test
  16. Hey all, I've always used 20 lb braid and tied direct for all of my lures. Im thinking about switching to 16lb Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon because i feel the braid sometimes deters the bass from biting. The question is, can i still frog fish with this fluorocarbon? I see no reason why I can't....or is it better to stick with the braid? Thanks, Welds note *i am not considering getting a second rod and reel just for frogging
  17. Its not a joke, they are just showing off how successful of an angler they want to be
  18. switch to dropshottttttt
  19. I have pretty much all of this stuff now. This thread is from June 2014, some time ago.
