When Do You Stop?
So lately my friend has been teasing me (as he always has) about how I'm going to be out there fishing in Janurary during a snow storm... I tell him I'm going fish into November and of course he exaggerates in a playful way. But the question is... Is it worth fishing into November if the ponds are not yet frozen??? Last year I did this without any success... Fall is just starting now and I can't wait but I feel like it will be short because it has had a late start... Thanks Welds

I didn't have my phone with me. You can believe what you want but I'll always know that I caught a carp on a senko

I Think I Just Hooked Into The State Record Bass
Hey all! I recently went fishing at one of my best producing ponds . I was using dark colored senkos and working them really slow and allowing them to sink for awhile. The air was humid, at 65 degrees, and the skies were overcast. A slight drizzle had formed as i arrived that morning. The water was murky as it had been raining on and off the past few days and the water level was moderately high. I cast my senko into one of my favorite brush piles where i have consistently pulled out 4 and 5 lbers. My senko lands and I let it sink for about 5 seconds when i suddenly feel a HUGE jerk on my line and i almost lose grip of my rod. The fish i hooked into darts out of the brush pile and takes a long run to the middle of the pond. After i have 15 minute fight consisting of 8 runs back out to the middle of the pond, i manage to get the fish near the shore. I felt like i had hooked into the state record bass, this fish felt HUGE, it didnt feel like a 5 lber... not even close. I get her in and see her side under the water and my heart sinks. Its a massive carp. I land the carp and my senko is lodged deep in its throat. I weigh her in at 18.5 lbs, my biggest carp ever. I thought it was bass at first.... what kind of carp takes a senko and eats it??? I've never had a carp take a lure before like this (besides on a spinnerbait once). Crazy story!! -Welds

Fall Has Finally Set In! 10/1/2014
Hello all! I haven't posted in about a month, because nothing has been really going on during the month of September. This summer pattern to fall pattern transitional period rendered the bass sluggish and only reacting to reaction baits, but still even barely biting those. I went out on the first of october, during a slight rain with low 60s temperature and overcast skies. I landed a small one on a spinnerbait instantly, and continued to toss the spinnerbait around. I saw multiple bass come follow the spinnerbait up, but they were unsure whether they really wanted it. I chucked my spinnerbait under a fountain that had been running, and instantly a 2.5 lber slams it and i land him. Nice, fat fish looking like a fall bass to me. I put my spinnerbait under the fountain again and i get a massive strike from a large fish, but he missed. I was really upset and kept throwing the spinnerbait to see if i could get him. I decided to put on a BPS Sassy sally soft jerkbait on and toss it under the fountain. Suddenly i feel the massive fish and i set the hook, i pull her in with a good fight. As i get her in a see a wolf pack of 2-3 lbers that were under the fountain with her follow up behind her. She weighs 3.25 lbs and was 18.5 inches long. She was FAT. I let her go and wonder if i can get some of those other bass that had been in the wolf pack from under the fountain. I toss my sassy sally back under the fountain and manage to pull out another bass, weighing a bit under 3 lbs. I was so happy! Finally they were eating and not just being sluggish as they had been during the summer-fall transition. I hope to head out soon again and get some more lunkers! Hoorah!!!!

Confusion
Hey all! Went fishing at my favorite pond yesterday and it was SLOW as heck. Caught one just under 3 lbs on a senko and that was it. Caught a few bluegills on spinners and some small baby bass but that was that. Its been 70 degrees during day, and low 50s at night... and it doesnt seem like the fall pattern has kicked in at all.... what's going on???

Summer Pattern Still In
Hey all! I haven't posted in some time because there has been little action here in New York, a few days ago temps dropped significantly, with high 50s at night and mid 70s during the day. This has, however, had little effect on the bass. I caught a small one on a senko, had a ton of others lazily grab the end though. Also got a 3 lber on a chatter bait. Took him a few swipes to get hooked up. Overall it feels that the bass are still in the summer mood. I was hoping they would be ready to feed for the winter, but I guess not. - Welds
