Many yak people wear either the NRS Chinook or the Stohlquist Fisherman. I use the Stohlquist. Check them out and try them on to decide which one is for you. It has to be comfortable for you to ALWAYS wear it. Even strong swimmers can't swim if they are knocked unconscious.

I hope that you were wearing a PFD. Gear can be replaced. Lesson learned. Congrats on the new PB though.
