Do You Support Your Local Bait and Tackle Shop?
Do I support my local bait & tackleshops? Nope.. BPS, cabelas ran them outta business. The two strongest held on for 2 years after BPS opened & ultimately closed doors.. I hate it too. Miss those places.

Need advice on gear ratios.
Why isn't it? I've done it for twenty years. Only the last 7 years have I used 7:1 To be honest, I rather enjoy that torque when I'm punching with 1 1/2 ounce of tungsten. The reel needs to have a durable clutch above all else in my opinion, after that, it's mostly a line holder. I'm still curious why you won't advise it. Do tell..

Need advice on gear ratios.
Should be ideal for deep divers.. mid divers or shallow. Heck, you can flip and pitch with it too.

Best Lure for Suspended Fish
I use a kalin grub & a 1/8 Oz jig head, I might bump the weight up a bit. A 4" to 6" ribbon tale works as well. Oh, don't forget a Senko..or a Tube bait.

Red Colored Lures - Are They Really That Effective?
Interesting comments thus far. I had one day trip with a red hook on the rear of a limetruese 1 Oz deep diver cb. I was fishing off my Cajun at the dam ( rip rap, chunk rock, banging that bait in 8' to 3' of water. I caught 15, 2 to 3 pound lmb the last hour of daylight. All were nailed by the trailing red hook..I haven't been able to duplicate the red hook theory since, but it mattered that day, at least I think..

Help me out smart people
How do you know the entire bottom composition? If you suspect their might be a drop, but haven't truly determined it, then what proof do you have their isn't hard bottom somewhere on the lake/pond bottom. A C-rig can help you to feel lots of structure types, as in gravel, chunk rock, sand, pea gravel, hydrilla, as well as any wood that may be in the area. The better you know the bottom contours & structure, the better your odds at making contact with fish..there could be some sweet spots out there. You need to learn this.

Help me out smart people
Try a light weight Carolina rig and learn the bottom contours & structure. A C-rig can tell you alot, as well as catch you fish.
