  1. I know it's probably been mentioned before buuuttttt Rigids or Bluewater LED? I am also open to any ideas of any other brands. I am buying a new boat and want to know everything from price, dependability, brightness, and anything else important. thanks!!
  2. I have one for the front of my boat. I normally don't keep it on but when it's on it's pretty much just something to lean on. It's good to have one at least.
  3. I am the founder and former president of my middle school. I had the same problem, many students didnt know much about fishing as well as the patience problem. In the beginning I would often get angered by students not having the same knowledge as me. I was not a "people person" as some would say. As the club progressed on I became more patient with new anglers because we have to remember we were all at that place at some point. I also came into the club with my nose stuck up like I was the best. When it was all said and done I did turn out to be the best but I was learning from other anglers too. That was something I didnt expect to happen, I thought I would be constantly teaching. I have to say that through that club I started, I learned more than I ever had before. I think school affiliated clubs are great! I really encourage you to start one at your school through TBF (a division of FLW) or B.A.S.S. because they host great middle school and high school tournaments as well as a college program. Best of luck to you!

  5. I finished well my first few tournaments. It really comes down to knowledge before you start fishing tournaments. If you start fishing tournamnets shortly after you start fishing you dont have that much background knowledge of fishing. Of course you have to know the tournament layouts and get adjusted to finding 5 good fish but for me it all boiled down to my knowledge before starting tournaments.
  6. yep. bouncing them off rocks and sometimes wood. I probably just need to spend more time with them.
  7. I just cant seem to catch fish on a crankbait. I spend days fishing them shallow-deep it doesnt matter. I have only caught a few fish on them. I am pretty good with lipless cranks but cant figure out the other cranks. Any advice or something I may be doing wrong? I cant figure it out.
  8. This is a topic my dad loves to make fun of. He has always been a live bait fishermen so he always says "why would you want to go throw a lure 5000 times and only catch a 2 pounder?". He has always been a striper fishermen so he is use to bigger fish. But back to the topic, I usually make 30-100 before hooking up. I have always wanted to count how many cast I make in a day.
  9. Started fishing for striper as a child. I have always used the same rods I use for bass when I fish for stripers. I have caught 15+ pounders on my regular bass and even 10+ on light spinning. I use bass lures often for my lure striper fishing. My uncle is a guide and he uses bass gear often when he is lure fishing.
  10. Happens often to me. I dont use them much though. I am a hard caster so that may be the issue. I use more bandit, storm, and a few more. Rapala is the only ones ive seen to break like that. May just be a weak one but in that case all of mine are weak ones. haha.
  11. Agreed on the Berkely Havoc the jerk. They are great and have great action.
  12. I have a tournament here May 16. I have never fished here before and know NOTHING about this lake. I fish Lake Hartwell every weekend. My questions are: Any similarities with Hartwell? What baits? What stage of spawn are the fish in, if they are still spawning? (Hopefully done by then). Also would like to know some general details about the lake. Any added information is great. I appreciate anything you can give. Thanks!!
  13. I love the shadow rap!! I fish Lake Hartwell and I am throwing same colors as the guys in the Classic were throwing and I am KILLING the fish. I caught 2 on back to back cast. I have never fished jerk baits much before this year and I have fell in love with the shadow rap. It is amazing!
  14. I personally store mine at my familys boat storage on Lake Hartwell. I think it is great to find something like that because where its stored it is locked up and gated. Its really cheap and easy. Find something like this and you will be set!!
  15. I always start from the shallows usually right on the bank and work my way out until I can find fish.
  16. I am trying to get a team started and I will need support. Anyone know of any high school programs for fishing teams? I know a few but anything to help out our team.
  17. The bass will be chasing the trout. Find a bait that is generally the same size (as mentioned above possibly Huddleston) and throw that. My lakes around here have very few if any trout in here but if they did, this is what I would do. Go give it a try!
  18. Stripers(or hybrids)! I grew up fishing for them and my family is the striper kings on Lake Hartwell. I love the fight and the taste!
  19. I was very happy to see Casey Ashley win!! I am friends with him personally and he is a great guy. Something that disappointed me was that the bait he was using was a bait I planned to use all winter long but I threw in the beginning of winter had no luck so it sat in the bottom of the boat. On top of that I fished the same area with that bait and I guess it was too early or something but I have been beating myself up about this. Sucks for me!! Also I had great coverage especially of the Japanese guys like Takahiro because my uncle is a guide and knows the lake well so he drove a cameraman around and he was able to get me some updates before anyone else could. It was great.
  20. I have used several different cameras and even my phone. My GoPro makes shots I could never get with anything else. These pics dont come from a regular camera!
  21. i wear crocs even when its raining except in winter I wear my muck boots. I even wear the crocs when its ot raining in winter aha.
  22. Yes! The coldest day recorded that year and I have no idea what I was doing fishing but... anyways I was getting into a little jon boat and I hopped off the dock onto the little 8 ft boat and their was another guy on the boat and I got on and fell in and lost my crappie rod. I froze all the way back to the house! Always carry a change of clothes with you in case you are not near home.
  23. Thanks guys just got a text and they said to bring it in and they are gonna check the fuel line and fuel pump.
  24. I have been having problems with my boat running. its a 1987 glasstream and it wont idle. I crank it and it cranks up pretty good but wont idle for nothing. When I finally get it running it only goes about 5 mph and really slow. We have cleaned the carbs and changed sparkplugs and everything but just cant seem to get it running. I took it out over the weekend and took it to my grandparents store because they work on boats so we installed my new trolling motor and it ran good at the shop. I just cant figure this out.
