Tackle On A Small Budget
Another tip someone else just told me was to wacky rig senkos with o-rings to keep them from ripping, which in the end, will save money.

Tackle On A Small Budget
I've been browsing that forum a lot lately but have only jumped on some football jigs which I got a good price on. Are their any house brands I should shy away from due to quality or such? What places offer college discounts?

Tackle On A Small Budget
I am a college student trying to work through college, but also enjoy bass fishing. I usually spend, on average, $10 per week, and I want this money to go far as possible. So does anyone have any tips on where to get tackle or gear on a budget? What off brands offer good quality and what brands do not? Any tip is appreciated.

Anyone Want A Custom Signature
I've got some time to kill in the next few weeks so I thought I'd do something for the members of the forum. If anyone would like a signature image like mine post here. Include: -Any image you would like in the signature or description of an image -What you would like it so say. Generally I will do your username and your title. If you would like something else just say -Color or Colors you would like Keep in mind the images are very small so I can't include much detail so macro photos are better.

Shimano Curado Vs. Lews Speed Spool Vs. Bps Pro Qualifier
I've had my Lew's Tournament MG close to two years now and have no complaints thus far. I've used both of the other reels you mentioned and have no bad things to say about either for their price. You can't go wrong with any go them but I myself would go with Lew's.

Reel Backing
I always back both flouro and braid with mono. Mono is cheaper than the other two and your lines will go a lot longer if you back them.

2014 Goals
I always take pics of my bigger fish but I might go this route this year and take a picture for every fish.

Help With Clear Water Fishing
Like others said, light line, long cast, smaller and more natural color lures. If you can see the bass, they can see you and won't bite most of the time so it is key to keep a good distance from your target.

Hey Northerners
I make weekly trips to my nearest Bass Pro to get some tackle. I have bought a new tackle bag, a new Citica and a St Croix mojo bass so far. ...and a pair of Costa Blackfins The more I buy, the closer spring gets. This winter is killing me.

2014 Goals
I couldn't imagine how tough it would be to keep track of fish. I'll fish whenever I can sometimes multiple times a day. Do you just keep a running log on your phone?

2014 Goals
Start fishing more soft plastics instead of just hard lures. Learn how to efficiently fish from my new kayak. Not too worried about my PB this year, I think that will just come with the plastics and the kayak.

Oddest Fishing Spot You've Fished?
Another kind of odd place was a very small creek in my hometown. I used to seine for bait to go catfishing and waded to an area that was about 5-7 feet across and the deepest hole was only about 2.5 feet. I pulled some 3 and 4 pound smalls out of this and some smaller ones down stream. Most of them were water locked to a specific area, so you could always go back and know where to catch a certain fish. There were a lot of tiny creeks like this where I used to live, but this one was the most productive.

St Croix Promo
I already got the hat free. I was just wondering if it was worth sending in everything and then waiting 4 weeks after mailing them $10. Thanks for the help guys

St Croix Promo
i bet they would, but they are closed today.

St Croix Promo
St Croix is running a promo right now, if you buy 1 rod over $100 you get a free hat, and 2 rods gets you a hat and a shirt. My question is: Are rods purchased online eligible for this offer. It says include register reciept, but can I substitute my email reciept instead? If anyone has completed this offer can you let me know.

Topwater Identification
Spot on. It is a X-Rap Walk in Gold Color. I've used super spooks to catch big smallmouths all last summer. I'll probably redress the tail and use it this year.

Topwater Identification
It looks like a subwalk but doesn't have the fins. I couldn't find a skitterwalk in the same color and the skitterwalk don't have the same back hook. The gold color on the subwalk matches it perfectly. I found it in a river known for fairly large smallmouth so I'm kind of curious how the previous owner lost it.

What Do I Still Need?
I had braid on it this past fall and it was doing fine with frogs. I've never had any problems compared to a one piece. And as far value rods does anyone have any opinions on the St. Croix Mojo Bass technique specific rods?

Oddest Fishing Spot You've Fished?
I've fished from Navy Pier a couple years back and didn't catch too terribly much I have two odd places: The first and least odd is the city ponds where I live. There are about 6 and range from 1-4 acres. I pulled my PB out of a little 1 acre pond there on a square bill crank bait last fall. When I first got bored and started fishing them I thought there was no way there could be bass in them. The other place is an old canal that is dried up in the summer except for one big pool on one end. It is still used as by the historic society's canal boat for tours. While wading the river below the canal I got out and found the canal and decided to throw a topwater frog and actually caught a very good number of bass. None really big but saw a couple big ones cruising the open spots. This was when the canal was completely filled.

What Do I Still Need?
Now planning way ahead, what would be my next choice after the 7'+ Heavy action rod? After that would it be more personal preference rather than what I actually need?
