  1. I just went thru the same thing you are. I ended up getting the tracker 195 and couldn't be happier. When I looked at the Rangers the 198 had not be released yet so I was comparing to the 188. My thoughts are, the ranger will definitely sit flatter while fishing. The tracker sits a little nose high at rest , but even with my buddy in the rear it is still very stable and not bad at all to fish from. Rangers will hold shallow water anchors better in my opinion where the tracker being nose high naturally could just increase with 2 of them mounted( i will find out soon). I really liked the storage of the 195 and the ride is great even when there is some chop. The ranger i saw did not impress me with the finish off it. I installed all my finders, LEDs, merc moniter and trolling motor( that can save you alot). I have not had any issues with the transom like some have had, but it has happened and is something to think about. Either boat will perform, it's kinda like if you like apples or oranges. Only you can make that call.
  2. I was thinking about putting some on my 195. My concern was how the weight would affect the nose since they sit so high stock. but after all these transom problems, I decided to hold off. I may try 2 power pole micros.
  3. I had the same issue. What you have to do is start a new TRAIL once you get on the lake. Make sure save log settings are time/1 sec. When your done for the day just stop the trail log. Go to files, then waypoints/routes/trails, hit export and then change file type to gpx exchange, hit export then choose location. Choose whatever name for it and then hit save. When you put your SD card in and sign into navionic chart installer it will let you upload the log.
  4. I've used one with the kvd sound package for about a year now. First impression was it was kinda gimmicky. decided to give it a chance and used it for a while and still am. My take on it is it can be a very good "TOOL". By no meens is it a be all end all. I mainly run two sounds, the power pattern and schooling shad. My go to techniques are spinner and chatterbaiters. I do see on my graph that while I have the power pattern playing that I get a lot more marks rising under the boat compared to it being off. Now does it translate into more fish??? I feel it gets the bass at least curious to the sound and give me a better chance to possibly catch them. During the winter I used the schooling shad sound over 40-50ft depth and saw again marks rising in the column and was able to catch them on dropshots ( by far my worst technique). So my verdict is I will continue to use it. I do think it helps at least draw some basses attention and gives me a better shot to land them. I don't use most the sounds on it( I'm a power guy and there's quit afew finesse sounds) but am going to experiment more with it this year.
  5. Heading there for the weekend. Any info or tips on what part to fish will be appreciated.
  6. Going up to pine flat for the weekend with my son. Any info or tips on where and what they're bitting on would be great. Will be fishing from my boat.
  7. I had the same unit. It does take a while to load the map pic when zooming in. I believe it has to do with the processing speed. I ended up upgrading to hds gen 2 and night and day difference. It take 1-2 sec and the maps uploaded.
  8. Just placed a order for these and wanted to double check on somethings. Will the sonar hub take the place of my structure scan hd box? With using the tm150, is there a update I need for my hds gen2 8 to be able to use the chirp technology or setting I will have to change to enable it?
  9. I think the max hds units can take is 32gb. I have a 32gb in my hds gen 2 8 and it shows I can record 4.5 days worth of sonar logs with all channels recording. As far as type I don't see a difference between the high end sd cards and just the regular ones.
  10. Went fishing this weekend. Was up the river and caught a unusual one. It had bright red eyes and a redish tint to its fins. Kinda resembled a smallmouth but not one i have seen. Didn't think much of it till I was reading a bass book and it talked about redeye bass. A guy at the marina said they didn't have any bass like that there, just wondering if anyone else knew or caught anything like it?
  11. Ya i was kinda leaning that way. Does the shaft length really matter?
  12. According to the site it should be the 50 lb model, but I remember reading somewhere that 50 should be the minimum for a 16-17ft boat. I know either will be a big leap from what I got but I don't want to buy one to regret not getting the other later.
  13. I have a 85 bayliner 1710 trophy. It's 16.25 ft long and dry weight is 1445 (may be a little more since I rebuilt the front to have a new full casting deck). I believe the trolling motor it has is the original. It's a MK all terrain 33 lb thrust 12v with a 38in shaft. I am planning on getting a MG Xi-5 with gps but am unsure on the length of shaft and how big to go. I put all new 8g wiring in so I could run the 24v 80lbs thrust model. But would I need that much or just get the 12v 50 lbs model. Also as far as shaft length it would be between 48 or 54in. Any thoughts will greatly help!
  14. I have the elite 7 hdi which is basically the 4's big brother for my main. Great unit and pretty simple to understand and use. I had to get the hot maps lake chip for my area and it is well worth it. I can imagine that on the 4 the only downside would be the screen size when viewing all 3 features at once ( gps, sonar, downimaging ). but you won't be disappointed As far as battery I would think that it should work for you, but I'm not 100% sure.
  15. I have a lowrance elite 7 hdi with the hotmaps platinum gps chip. I am thinking about getting a elite 4 dsi for the front while I am trolling but was wondering if I would need another hotmaps gps chip for that one, or could I network the two and have the charts I get on the elite 7?
