  1. Hey there, As the title says, I'm looking for information regarding the new E6X spinning/casting rods. Do you own them? How are they? Any info is appreciated.
  2. I'm gonna go with Lake Dixon in CA since a bass larger than the current standing world record was foul hooked there (25+ lbs)
  3. My brain is telling me it's a raptor species because of the large ocular cavities, but what do I know :/
  4. Would help to have something in the picture so we can get a sense of scale
  5. This! Fair warning though, it's illegal to transport Rusty Crayfish as they're an invasive species (In some areas).
  6. A confidence lure for me is the one lure that I know that I can turn to when times are tough. It's a lure that I know consistently catches fish, and with which I know the subtle nuances of how it works.
  7. Personally I think braid is better for a beginner since it's more forgiving to backlash.
  8. HEAVIER braid will probably result in more wind drag = less distance
  9. Last night I stopped by a local quarry, and right as the sun was setting, a giant school of bass started breaking the surface, chasing shad. At it's peak, there were 5 or 6 jumping out of the water every 2 seconds or so. There had to be hundreds there, some of them many pounds larger than my personal best. This went on for over 45 minutes. I thew a KVD squarebill with no results. Not even a sniff. I thew a Rat L trap that was also completely ignored. I thew a Megabass Giant Dog-X that had two swipes, but I took it away too fast in my excitement. Even having not caught anything, being there for that incredible moment was my best day of bass fishing.
  10. Where are you folks getting these great deals?
  11. In terms of sensitivity, (in my opinion) Fluorocarbon is more sensitive than braid which is more sensitive than mono. I don't do a lot of carolina rigging, but I've heard that that rig is often used to figure out bottom composition. Also, tungsten seems to transfer vibration much better than lead. Try dragging some pegged tungsten T-rigs. Mud feels "mushy", weeds feel, well, like weeds -- being able to discern the difference in vegetation takes experience.
  12. I'm curious to know if the Fogy has a bait keeper or not. That's my main complaint with chatterbaits.
  13. Had an American Kestrel dive bomb my practice casting weight when i was practicing in my back yard.
  14. Varies from state to state. In my state, we're allowed to net bait, but aren't allowed to transport it to another body of water.
  15. Id say that, being right in the path of a major southern migration route, you most likely have more fish eating birds than the average state.
  16. For what it's worth: I fish water with clarity of over 10 feet. I am a bank fisherman, and i use 100% braid for most of my non-finesse applications (t-rig, lipless crank, etc). I still catch fish.
  17. It's possible that the catch per unit effort is in lbs there. If you look at the chart, that seems to make the most sense -- why else would there be 15.29 CPUE of LMB per hour? (Unless they shocked for an uneven amount of time, but then why measure in CPUE?)
  18. The law on trespassing differs from state to state, but in my state, if there is no fence, and there are no "No Trespassing" or "No Fishing" signs, then you can fish there.
  19. Taken from :https://gfp.sd.gov/fishing-boating/tacklebox/lake-surveys/central-lakes/docs/technical-terminology.pdf "Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) is the catch of fish or animals in numbers or weight taken by a defined period of effort. In fisheries most commonly refers to trap-net nights of effort, gill-net night of effort, or catch per one hour of electrofishing."
  20. On a normal cast, I definitely change grips, but there are times where I can make lots of quick successive pitches with no change in grip.
  21. Seems like wasted time/movements to me. I'm a lefty and I use right handed reels.
