  1. That's a great hat. Know where I can get one?
  2. I concur. That's all I've thrown this year so far
  3. It was definitely on a pause, right after a small hop. I didn't even feel a bite, the line just got heavy.
  4. I do believe you're right. Thanks Turtle!
  5. Well as the title states, this is my first bass of the year. Water temps still in the low 40s here. I was able to get out on my lunch break today. My guess is between 3-4 lbs. My second ever jig bass, and now i'm hooked! PS: Can anyone identify the jig? Can't remember if this is a Siebert Outdoors product or not...Green pumpkin/teal
  6. I also thought the old Mojo felt tip heavy which is why I never purchased one. They feel completely different now and much more balanced.
  7. It was a St. Croix rep who was on site demoing rods. He mentioned that the avid and the mojo are the same blank. I misspoke in my original post.
  8. Perhaps the St. Croix rep I spoke to as Bass Pro was misinformed, but he told me they're built on the same exact blank!
  9. Ah, you're right. That's what I initially wrote then edited it.
  10. Has anyone tried the newest models of the St. Croix Mojo Bass line? Apparently they're built on the same blank as the tournament legend Avid now. I held one in my hand at Bass Pro and they're definitely lighter than past models... Any insight into how they handle etc would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  11. One of the St. Croix reps was in my local BPS and let me hold his personal Legend Elite. I should have never picked it up. Definitely my number one choice right now.
  12. You're definitely a better fisherman than me!
  13. I tried for a long time on mono. I missed so many fish and I didn't understand why. I switched to braid and my hookup success increased by 80%. Frog fishing went from being a frustrating activity to my favorite technique overnight.
  14. Mind letting me in on where you found these and how much you paid? I found a place that's pretty cheap, but they don't appear to ship to the states :/
  15. Hey folks - Looking to get some insight into your thoughts regarding using straight shank hooks vs wide gap hooks. I've been mostly throwing all of my t-rigged plastics on straight shank hooks with bait keepers. I'll do this whether I'm flipping, or making long casts. I can see some of the pros and cons of doing this, but i'd like to hear your thoughts. Recently I've tried throwing the same plastics on wide gap hooks, and while the lighter wire hooks seem to have better hookup ratios (so far), the baits seem to always need to be adjusted after every few casts. Willing to hear anything you guys have to say on the topic. Thanks very much in advance.
  16. I have one. They're extremely light (I would call it surprisingly light), with good backbone. I have mine paired with a Revo sx and 30 lb power pro. No complaints so far.
  17. What lake is that? I went to HSHS and lived right down the road from Central
  18. Had an American Kestrel make several tries for my frog that I was practicing with in my back yard.
  19. I just bought two Daiwa Procyons (2000 and 2500) last week. No complaints at all. I already lost a small washer on the reel handle, and after emailing Daiwa, they're sending me a replacement free of charge. Their email response was within 5 minutes of the original message. So far they're batting 1000 with their customer service.
  20. Officially in the club. I plan to catch my first jig fish ever on one of these next week. Will update if I do.
  21. Pulled the trigger and bought a medium 7' 842SJR (and another Procyon because I am in love with them). It is also a little tip heavy, but I still really like it.
  22. Just bought my gf the new Daiwa Procyon EX. It's one of the smoothest reels i've ever had the pleasure of using.
  23. Appreciate the reply. Thinking about the 842 now, since you mention the tip heaviness of the 852. Please keep me updated. I'm really on the fence about this one. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday, but thought I'd wait for your update. Now i'm not sure what to do :/
  24. Curious to know how the 852 works out for you. Please keep us posted!
