  1. I'm trying to throw more top water poppers now, and I want to make them create that chugging sound on the retrieve, but can't figure it out! Please help! Thank you and tight lines.
  2. My opinion is that in the summer there is "always a chance of a Thunderstorm", I go out regardless. Keep an eye to the sky and if the clouds become very dark and it gets windy, you should probably wait for the storm to pass.
  3. First before I get into this story I need to fill you guys on some background information. The weather here in Southern New Hampshire has been crazy for the past week or so. There has been incredible down pours that last for only a few minutes, to bluebird skies for a day or two. To sum it all up the water is very low as of right now (remember that). I also have lost my kayak in a fishing accident and am stuck on the bank for the time being, which isn't too ideal. So today I decided to go bank fishing at a spot that I always bring my kayak too that usually will produce a couple of nice bass. The problem is that today I didn't have a kayak. Bank fishing was terrible after a hour or so, so I decided to just get a cool Instagram picture for social media and leave. Well, as I am crouching down a feel a pressure on my big toe. I didn't really think anything of it, but when I looked down I saw a massive snake with a huge, black and flat head biting on my shoe. My shoe is mesh so I was feeling the "fangs" on my toe. I freaked out and literally whipped my shoe and the snake about 10 yards. I was assuming I got bit by a Water Moccasin and my life was flashing before my eyes. Turns out it was just a massive water snake, but it was most certainly a wake up call to look before I crouch down in the woods somewhere. Lessons have been learned from this fishing experience. Oh, and here is the picture I got when I was getting attacked; nice little spot to fish.
  4. A few weeks back I lost my nice net, which I always brought when I went on the water in my kayak. I literally kicked it out of my kayak without even knowing it until I had a good sized fished hooked up and I was going to "net it". I haven't bought another one yet because of pure laziness. I personally believe that not having a net is hurting my confidence out on the water. Trying to lip a good fish in a kayak is hectic and pretty heart pumping, and most of the time this fish throws the hook. I'm going to buy a next sometime this week. I just found it interesting how not having a net with me on the water is effecting my confidence out there.
  5. Hey guys I know this is the wrong forum, but we are all around southern NH, so I thought this would be the best place to post this. I have two kayaks (sit on & sit in) that have two hairline fractures that could be easily fixed with some marine sealant, I just don't want to. I'm selling both of them for $50 together. I really am just trying to get rid of them and upgrade to an actual fishing kayak. If anyone is interested just message me or post on this forum and I will gladly post some pictures for you guys. Have a nice day and tight lines!
  6. I'll usually help out younger kids who are struggling with catching a fish and look like they will never fish again. I think it is our duty as anglers to help each other out sometimes when the occasion arises.
  7. Welcome to the forums. I suggest picking up the book Clark's New Hampshire Fishing Guide. It can be found in any Walmart and has every single spot known to man to fish in NH.
  8. Today I got skunked, plain and simple. Getting skunked sucks regardless, and nobody ever goes home happy when it happens, but it does happen. It is something that all fishermen have to deal with. Anyway, while I was driving home contemplating about how awful of an angler I was and asking my self the common "what if?" scenarios I realized that it is the "dog days" of summer. I know that I should never have an escape goat for getting skunked, but I do realize that summertime bass fishing is not the easiest season by any stretch of the imagination and being skunked happens a fair amount in the summer. I would be much more disappointed if I got skunked during the Fall or Spring. I'm just curious if you fellow anglers feel the same way I do? Cheers & tight lines!
  9. Had a great day on the water in Amherst and my largest largemouth was 5.3 lb. Here are two pictures of the fish.
  10. Texas Rigged KVD Perfect Plastic on a 5/0 offset shank hook! BOOYA BABY!
  11. Do fish bite with a declining pressure system, a low pressure system, a rising pressure system or a high pressure system? I know bass can be caught in all of them, but there has to be one that gives the angler more advantages to catch as fish, right? Please explain. Thank you!
  12. That's awesome! Great fish!
  13. I use to do that as well, but know I'm actually switching it up. Gotta do what the fish are telling you and not what you want to do. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!
  14. I work at a firework store buy one get one free lolololololol
  15. Alright, here is the scenario. My friend caught a nice 6.1 pound Larry on a white 4 inch swim-bait (pretty sure it was a 4 inch). It is the standard Bass Pro large, white, 5 in a pack, with the hook already made into it swim-baits. Anyways, this kid hooks up to a goliath of a fish on this bait at 4:30 in the afternoon on off shore lily pads in probably 10 feet of water. Now I am going on Tuesday and will be on the water fishing at around 5 o'clock am. I am wondering if I should throw the exact same thing (Obviously went out and purchased the exact same bait). I'm truly curious if that bait will hook into a huge fish like it did even though the time that the lure is being fished is different. I really appreciate any of your responses! Cheers! Also this goes with any lure as well.
  16. Is the goal always to catch a monster of a fish or just catch a ton of great fish. I understand that any bass is a good bass, but what is important to you? I caught my first big bass today, and then hooked up to a bunch of dinks. I still found catching the dinks equally fun as catching the big fish (I did enjoy the picture with my PB though). So what is it?
  17. 5.5 lb with a Texas Rigged Bass Pro Green pumpkin Stick-O in 10 feet of water. HAMMAAD IT.
  18. I drop my kayak in the "Public Water Supply" all the time. If I see a decayed beaver floating in the water, there should be no reason that I can't drop a clean kayak in the water. Lost a 5+ the other day there.
  19. I've read a bunch of confusing articles on what bass do in the summer and I am still confused. I am a kayak fisherman with no technology to find fish. Can someone please just give me a general idea of what a bass will do on a 85 degree day from sun up to sun down. I don't need anything fancy! Cheers, and thank you for the help in advance. The water is decently warm too, nothing insane, but it most certainly isn't cold.
  20. The only thing that has happened to me is that I will find lures hooked on submerged trees and such from bank fisherman because I have a kayak and can retrieve some items. I really love it, but I haven't thrown anything I've found yet. I need to replace the treble hooks on the jointed crank I found. Fire Tiger color too.
  21. JESUS WHAT A FISH! ABSOLUTE MONSTER!
