What is your favorite and or most succesful Lure?
My favorite, without a doubt is a popper. Pop-X, Pop-Max or Chug Bugs. It’s pretty close to being my most successful lure if it isn’t. I have extreme confidence in poppers. Some popper fish:

Rules of Your Lake
Amen. Wish everybody would follow this rule. I could drop anchor in the middle of the lake over 90’ of water and people would still crowd me.

Need some help with a fish ID.
This looks nothing like any rock bass I’ve ever caught. And I’ve caught a million.

Fishing alone
I usually fish alone. I have some buddies who like to fish, and we’ll go sometimes but most of the time I’m alone. Fishing solo definitely has its perks, like getting to stay out as long as you want. If there are more than one person in a boat, they won’t always agree on when to leave. Fishing solo allows me to stay out as long as I want without worrying about if the other person started getting bored 4 hours ago. Fishing with a buddy has its benefits too. Like having a net-man, and it can be a little more fun on a slow fishing day when you have someone to talk to.

Thoughts on Booyah SuperShad spinnerbait?
By far my most productive spinnerbait is an old Strike King one with 4 willow blades just like this. I don’t believe SK still makes their 4 bladed spinnerbait, but it’s good to know 4 bladers are still on the market.

Travel Rods (looking for recommendations)
If you can still find Methods, I highly recommend those. Took a couple with me to Baccarac, and they are really nice rods. I was very impressed with how they felt.

Are Dressed Treble Hooks Cosmetic?
To me, they are cosmetic. I’ll switch out a feathered treble to a better hook without feathers or hackle without a second thought. Especially on smaller baits for when I’m downsizing, I like a non-feathered treble.

Why do bass follow other bass that are hooked?
I’ve noticed this with smallmouth very frequently, and I’ve even had 4 or 5 smallmouth chase a hooked one right to the boat. Interestingly, it doesn’t seem as though the fish in pursuit are any easier to catch if you drop another bait in front of them, in my experience anyway. I havent noticed this behavior with largemouth very frequently, but I have caught 2 bass at the same time on a topwater lure and I suspect that the second fish got hooked trying to take the bait from the first one. There is one lake though, that I fish occasionally, where the largemouth do this very frequently. 1 or 2 will chase a hooked one to the boat. This is the only lake I’ve seen largemouth exhibit this behavior. Worth noting about this particular lake, it’s also the only body of water I’ve fished that the largemouth also behave somewhat like northern pike, by following baits right to the boat, attacking or swiping at it right before it gets lifted out of the water.

Becoming a trashman
I love to read things like this. It’s great seeing others care enough to pick up someone else’s garbage. Any trash I see on the boat launches or in the water and I can reach it with the net, I will dispose of. Won’t always confront people, because that can create bad situations, but sometimes I literally can not help myself. At the very least I will report a litterbug. In my opinion, littering is one of the most selfish, ignorant, scummy things a human can do. What really makes my blood boil is seeing trash strewn across my favorite lake’s boat launch and park, when there is a huge garbage can right there. How can someone not feel guilty or embarrassed about leaving their trash to clutter up a public place, or for someone else to clean up. I can not comprehend that mindset.

LMB without the black stripe?
Yes, it’s fairly common in some of the waters I fish. A lot of bass I catch are silverfish or all green, and lack the usual dark horizontal stripe.

All about the Top Water today! Some good fish. MegaBass Pop-X did most of the damage. A few came on spinnerbaits as well.

First Time Brook Trout Fishing - Think I'm Addicted (6-19-18)
Nice report, and beautiful wild brookies. Always great when a trek into the woods is rewarded with some fish, and wild ones at that.

Great rods that get no love
I love my Fenwicks. Not as big a name as some others.

Which do you use more: Baitcasting or Spinning?
Casting, 90/10 for me. Don’t think I’ve even picked up my spinning gear yet this year. I’ve had spinning set ups on the boat, but I don’t think I’ve actually used any of them this year.

All I know is it drives me crazy to hear someone refer to a non-Rebel brand popper as a “Pop R”.

Got a nicely colored rainbow this morning. First rainbow in years. Normally mostly browns in this river, but occasionally it will give up a ‘bow or a brookie.
