River monsters
I am surprised that no one else has mentioned "Chasing Monsters" with Cyril Chaquet. Its a really good show. The host Cyril Chaquet is a really good fisherman, and he actually gets into some of the angling aspects of what he is doing. He'll sometimes try to catch huge fish on hand-lines such as sailfish, goliath grouper and bull sharks. That looks intense! Chasing Monsters is essentially the same as River Monsters, only with a little more information regarding the angling, and a lot less dramatic undertones that turn some people off to River Monsters. There is also "Monster Fish" on NatGeo, but the host isn't a fisherman, he is a biologist that sometimes uses rod and reel. A lot less of a "fishing" show, but seeing more huge fish is always entertaining.

Thoughts on Seaguar Red Label fluorocarbon
Tried a couple spools of 10 and 12 pound test, and I couldn't do it any more. Even as a leader, the stuff is just garbage in my opinion. I'm a seaguar fan, but the Red Label I just can't do. I since switched to Yo-Zuri fluoro leader material and have never looked back. That is some good stuff.

Definitely bummed that baseball season is over. But the good thing, like every year, is that baseball and fishing will be starting up right around the same time next year!- First time
The first hard bait I caught a bass on was a 2.5" Storm Chug Bug. It was when I was a kid, and we were fishing for smallmouth around an island. I tied on my chug bug and cast towards the island and after a few pops, a 2 lb smallie nailed it.- Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
That's what I'm talking about. Nice haul!- rest in peace momma
Wow. I am truly sorry. I can't even imagine the grief this must cause. You absolutely have my sympathy.- River monsters
Love the show. I'm also a fan of the show "Chasing Monsters", which is pretty much the same as river monsters, just not quite as dramatic.- Catching the same fish multiple times.
A few years back I stayed on Black Lake in St. Lawrence county NY, for a week. My buddy caught a bass from the dock on day 2, and we quickly took notice of its mouth. It's had over a dozen holes all over its face, and the outer top jaw was one large hole. This fish had obviously been caught over and over and over again. Day 6, my buddy caught it again.- Guess the weights of my bass!
I enjoy the "guess the weight" threads. At the VERY least, its just another picture of a bass, which I enjoy looking at. If you don't like these threads, then the solution is about as simple as it gets. Don't read them Makes me chuckle that it takes 10x the amount of typing to voice one's displeasure than it would to guess the weight. And even more than it would take to not read the thread at all lol And my guesses: 1. Looks like a fish with a big head and skinny body. I'll say 3lbs 2. Maybe pushing 2? 3 & 4: both look like very solid fish and wouldn't be surprised if they both went 4+.- Catching the same fish multiple times.
Caught the same smallie twice in one day. It was an 18" smallmouth that went 2.55 lbs the first time I caught it, and an hour or so later it weighed 2.66. It was easily identifiable by 2 scars on its side and gill plate. Caught pitching the same lay down.- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
Already screwing with Lester.- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
The Indians are somewhat speedy, they could really take advantage of the fact that Lester can't throw over to first. Hopefully they do. He is lucky he's a lefty. He can just stare them back to the bag!- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
Can't wait. On one hand, I'm really pulling for Kershaw and the Dodgers. But on the other hand, if the Cubs win, we get to see Wrigley go absolutely rabid.- Adjustable Handle Rods?
Not a bad idea. I could see this having some practical use.- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
If it was Bumgarner, I think he would have been starting game 5. But because its Kershaw, I think Roberts felt Maeda gave them as good of a shot for a win. Kershaw's last start was far from his normal playoff self, and giving him an extra day's rest can't hurt. If the Dodgers were facing elimination or advancement in game 5, Kershaw would have been the starter I'm sure. In my opinion, Roberts' and Francona's managing have both been incredible this year, but ESPECIALLY this post season. Francona is doing what he has always done, winning. And Roberts is looking like a genius. I'd pick him over Maddon for MOTY in the NL, simply because the Cubs were extremely healthy, and the Dodgers set DL records.- The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, and The Race For The Pennant Is On!
